How are the teachers (and the parents!) supposed to explain to the students “who exactly is Kasselakis” and what he represents? Are the teachers of the only Orthodox high school in America supposed to assume that our Church blesses homosexuality? Why Is Elpidoktonos so persistent in his pursuit of making homosexuality “normal”? Does he think he is more powerful than Christ?

If you needed more proof that the “Kasselakis phenomenon” is part of a broader globalist agenda aimed to erode any religious beliefs or traditional morality among the Greeks in Greece and the diaspora, you should not have any illusions anymore. Not only did Kasselakis return to the U.S. to marry his partner, Tyler Macbeth, in a ceremony in the richly Hamptons today, but he plans to have a complete set of meetings with the Greek-American community, starting with Saint Demetrios School in Astoria, where he will visit tomorrow. We have also learned that GOARCH and the Consulate General of Greece are involved in Kasselakis’ visit to the school. The Greek Consulate knows very well that such visits to the school happen when officials from Greece are on a state/official visit to the US. Kasselakis is here privately to have a wedding with his gay partner. Why is he supposed to visit the school? There is only one answer to this: to promote his personal agenda of “acceptance of homosexuality”… Does GOARCH think this is the right time and place?
Unfortunately, yes. In a development that is beyond reprehensible, the presiding priest of Astoria, Fr. Anargyros (Stavropoulos), announced to administrators and teachers today that he had received directions from GOARCH “to welcome Stephanos Kasselakis for a visit Friday morning in the School with full honors”!!
First, let’s be clear: This did not come just from anyone in GOARCH; this is the kind of “directive” that only the Archbishop can give. Second, even if we assume (but we cannot “assume” anything anymore) that Kasselakis will have the decency to “leave Tyler home,” how are the teachers (and the parents!) supposed to explain to the students “Who exactly is Kasselakis” and what he represents? Are the teachers of the only Orthodox high school in America supposed to assume that our Church blesses homosexuality?
To understand the full magnitude of the GOARCH decision to openly “bless” Kasselakis instead of denouncing him, you should take into account some basic recent facts about the school:
FACT #1: The Enrollment in Saint Demetrios School has fallen 20% since last year to just about 400 students – and just a few days ago, we heard many parents removed their children from the weekly (evening) school.
FACT #2: This loss of enrollment is compared with a gain of enrollment in Catholic Schools across America by about 4% (link here) and an even bigger gain of enrollment in other private or charter schools. Why are these other schools gaining enrollment? Because parents seek better education for their kids compared to the atrocious situation in public schools. Not only do the kids get a much better education in a parochial/religious/private school, but they grow up in a healthy family-friendly environment, free of any direct or indirect indoctrination in homosexuality.
There are wider issues beyond the strictly theological or educational ones: Why should we promote and celebrate a tiny minority of 1-2% of the general population as worthy to be an example for our children? Did GOARCH see what happened to Disney Co. after they decided to promote LGBTQ rights and become “woke”? They lost billions in share value and are now forced to sell ABC News!!
But GOARCH does only need to look at their internal numbers which we learned from a trustworthy insider just a few weeks ago: membership across America’s 550 parishes has fallen from 550,000 to just 140,000 today!! These are devastating numbers directly related to the lack of projection of Orthodox faith by the leadership and their mismanagement at all levels. Elpidoktonos has been seeing empty churches all over the country for over two years now: the faithful specifically avoid him and they do not participate in any event he is present!! Below is the half-empty dinner he attended just a few days ago in one of the most populous communities of the Metropolis of Chicago… If you guessed that Eleni Boussis and the gay couple whose children were baptized two summers ago in Athens by the Archbishop were among the “hosts” of the Archbishop, you are 100% right…
I will close this short article by calling on all of you to raise your voices against the corrupt, faithless, “woke” GOARCH leadership and close your pockets. Email to them, call them, send letters, talk to them: do not be afraid to confront them with the basic tenets of the faith. This is what the Holy Fathers have asked us to do and this is what we should do. It is a simple choice.
Finally, I will repeat again and again: I truly have no patience for “politically correct” comments about us being “homophobic,” etc. I have noted repeatedly that modern Greece had her biggest poet (Cavafy), her biggest composer (Hadjidakis), and her biggest painter (Tsarouhis), all known homosexuals. But they respected the public, and they respected themselves. They never made their homosexuality a flag like Kasselakis.

The introduction of this personage to the impressionable students of this high school is a political stunt to subtly advance the repugnant homosexual agenda. It will be another day in the long march of perversion through the institutions. If St. Demetrios were a public school, the display would be reprehensible, but because it is a Christian school it’s a downright abomination. Elpidophoros should be condemned for promoting it.
I agree. Why would Elpi or the school administration want an atheist homosexual communist to make an official visit? Parents should keep their kids home that day, or better yet, protest the visit.
