EDITOR’S NOTE (Nick Stamatakis): This must be personal for Greek Foreign Minister George Gerapetritis, who comes from Karpathos (actually from the island’s South). He and his family could probably watch with their own eyes a few miles to the south the Turkish warships violating Greek sovereignty rights in a very crucial area, connecting the Aegean to the Eastern Mediterranean.  This is precisely the area Turkey aimed at when, a few years ago, they signed the Turkey-Libya “memorandum of understanding” when they declared a connected EEZ – passing over the Greek islands and Crete!!.  What was this act? A totally illicit effort to claim Greek sovereignty east of Crete and South of Karpathos, Kassos, and Rhodes. According to the Turkish claim, Greek Islands have no continental shelf and no exclusive economic zone (EEZ).  This irrational claim is against the UNCLOS (United Nations Convention for the Law of the Seas) but also against recent decisions of International Courts.  

The Mitsotakis government, obeying their masters in DC, chose an appeasement posture towards Turkey instead of taking actions to reaffirm the Greek rights at the United Nations, NATO, EU, and everywhere else.  Four summers ago, Greece managed a huge naval victory when the captain of the Greek Frigate “Limnos” displayed to the whole world what 4,000 years of Greek maritime tradition means: Without using any weapons, Limnos touched with her bow the Turkish frigate “Kamal Reis” forcing her to abandon these same waters and spend many months in the yard for repairs!! Only a Greek captain could achieve such a feat!

The Turkish Navy and Air Force have no chance against the superior Greek naval and air forces. At some point, the Greek Government should show Erdogan that such behavior against international law is unacceptable. What the DC swamp wants to do with Turkey should stay out of these considerations—it is Greece’s interests that the Mitsotakis government should serve. If we have learned anything from history, Turkish leadership understands only the language of force and nothing else.  There are many ways to show force without causing any further escalation – the Greek captain of the frigate “Limnos” showed the way.

Turkish warships “besiege” Kasos! Silence from the Government
Mitsotakis “drowns” the dignity and sovereignty of Greece in the calm waters of the Aegean

Under Turkish…surveillance, the Italian ship “levoil Relume” was carrying out investigations for the laying of underwater cables (for the Crete-Cyprus electrical interconnection project) south of Kasos, just outside the territorial waters and the limits of the coastal zone between Kasos and Karpathos.

Five Turkish warships gathered there (two frigates, two missile boats and one corvette), setting a scene of tension and siege of the Greek island, under the pretext of… violating the Turkish continental shelf!

According to “Kathimerini” which made the revelation, three ships were sent from the Greek side (a frigate, a gunboat and a Coast Guard patrol boat) and “it was chosen not to give an escalation signal”!

That is, in a period where Turkish provocation hits “red”, with the nationalist crowns by Tayyip Erdogan, the revelations that irreparably expose Kyriakos Mitsotakis and the policy of appeasement and servitude, but also Ankara’s furious attack on Defense Minister Nikos Dendia, the Government’s reaction is… silence!

We remind you that just yesterday, in a video-document published by newsbreak.gr, Turkish fishing boats seem to have invaded the Greek waters in Samos and arrive a “breath” from the coast!

Complaints by citizens on social media, they spoke of the detection of 20 Turkish wind turbines on the island within 24 hours!

After all, Turkey’s “fishing boats” have for years proven to be a very successful way of invading Greek waters…

What happened to that rag of the “Athens Declaration”?

Did it get lost somewhere between the “gift” of the TurkAegean made by the Mitsotakis Government in Ankara, the top diplomacy of the Greek Prime Minister and his “training” to be able to lower his head to everything Turkish?

Υπό τουρκική… επιτήρηση το ιταλικό πλοίο «levoil Relume» πραγματοποιούσε έρευνες για την πόντιση υποβρυχίων καλωδίων (σ.σ. για το πρότζεκτ ηλεκτρικής διασύνδεσης Κρήτης-Κύπρου) νότια της Κάσου, ακριβώς έξω από τα χωρικά ύδατα και τα όρια αιγιαλίτιδας ζώνης μεταξύ Κάσου και Καρπάθου.

Εκεί συγκεντρώθηκαν και πέντε πολεμικά πλοία της Τουρκίας (δύο φρεγάτες, δύο πυραυλάκατοι και μία κορβέτα), στήνοντας ένα σκηνικό έντασης και πολιορκίας του ελληνικού νησιού, υπό το πρόσχημα της… παραβίασης της τουρκικής υφαλοκρηπίδας!

Σε μια περίοδο δηλαδή όπου η τουρκική προκλητικότητα χτυπάει «κόκκινα», με τις εθνικιστικές κορώνες από τον Ταγίπ Ερντογάν, τις αποκαλύψεις που εκθέτουν ανεπανόρθωτα τον Κυριάκο Μητσοτάκη και την πολιτική του κατευνασμού και της υποτέλειας, αλλά και τη λυσσαλέα επίθεση της Άγκυρας στον Υπουργό Άμυνας Νίκο Δένδια, η αντίδραση της Κυβέρνησης είναι η… αφωνία!

Θυμίζουμε ότι μόλις χθες, σε βίντεο-ντοκουμέντο που δημοσίευσε το newsbreak.gr, τουρκικά αλιευτικά φαίνονται να έχουν εισβάλλει στα ελληνικά ύδατα στη Σάμο και να φτάνουν μια «ανάσα» από την ακτή!

Καταγγελίες πολιτών στα μέσα κοινωνικής δικτύωσης, έκαναν λόγο για εντοπισμό 20 τουρκικών ανεμότρατων στο νησί μέσα σε 24 ώρες!

Άλλωστε, τα «αλιευτικά» της Τουρκίας, εδώ και χρόνια έχουν αποδειχθεί ένας πολύ πετυχημένος τρόπος εισβολής σε ελληνικά ύδατα…

Εκείνο το κουρελόχαρτο της  «Διακήρυξης των Αθηνών» τι να έγινε άραγε;

Μήπως χάθηκε κάπου ανάμεσα στο «δώρο» του TurkAegean που έκανε η Κυβέρνηση Μητσοτάκη στην Άγκυρα, στη… διπλωματία κορυφής του Έλληνα Πρωθυπουργού και στην «προπόνησή του» για να μπορεί να σκύβει όλο και πιο χαμηλά το κεφάλι σε οτιδήποτε τουρκικό;
