EDITOR’S NOTE (Nick Stamatakis). It’s not only Esfigmenou anymore, it seems! We are now hearing reports (newswire.gr – reproduced by size.live – READ BELOW) that the Greek Police are preparing an operation not only against Esfigmenou Monastery but against the Russian Monastery of Panteleimonos and the Bulgarian, Serbian, and Romanian monasteries. Also, exapsalmos.gr (Link here) reports that a series of meetings between the Greek Authorities and the self-governing committee of Athos (consisting of the leaders of the monasteries) took place the last few days.
My evaluation of the situation is as follows: The Mitsotakis government has received clear orders from their globalist puppet masters to eliminate the self-governance of Athos, in place for over one thousand years. The Western Globalists cannot achieve their goals of reducing Orthodoxy and Christianity to an absurdity (as they attempted to do in the Paris Olympics) until they eliminate the bastion of Orthodoxy, the true Ark of Christianity at Athos. Furthermore, the degenerate Patriarch Bartholomew will NEVER achieve to unify Orthodoxy with Catholicism as long as Athos exists. This explains the urgency.
Of course, the excuse for the Police operation is that “Russian agents” operate in Athos. There may be a few of them – nobody can deny this possibility. But they can be in many other places. This is not enough reason to desecrate and destroy Athos.
Ultimately, this looks more like a “testing of the waters”… They want to see what reactions it will cause and where. Already, we have had demonstrations by hundreds of people in Ouranoupolis (right at the border of Athos) supporting Esfigmenou with the main slogan, “Orthodoxy or Death.” There will be many more right outside Athos and elsewhere. However, the fact to keep in mind is that nothing can be done without the consent of the “Superintendency of Athos” (the Self-Governance Committee of the 20 monasteries). And the monasteries will NEVER agree for the Police to enter the Holy Mountain.

Σήμερα πηγές του Newsfire.gr αναφέρουν ότι υπήρχε μία συγκέντρωση στην Ουρανούπολη όπου συγκεντρώθηκε αρκετός κόσμος διαμαρτυρόμενος για την κίνηση αυτή της αστυνομίας προφανώς έπειτα από εντολή της κυβέρνησης Μητσοτάκη.
Οι νέες πληροφορίες όμως που καταθέτουν οι πηγές του Newsfire.gr είναι ότι η κίνηση της αστυνομίας δεν θα είναι αποκλειστικά απέναντι στην Ιερά Μονή Εσφιγμένου αλλά ότι θα υπάρξει και κίνηση που θα έχει ως στόχο την εκκένωση του ρώσικου μοναστηριού της Ιεράς Μονής Αγίου Παντελεήμονα καθώς επίσης και στο βουλγάρικο, ρουμάνικο και σέρβικο μοναστήρι.
Επομένως φαίνεται, εάν ευσταθούν οι πληροφορίες, ότι πρόκειται για μία προσπάθεια γενικευμένης εκκαθάρισης από τις διάφορες δυνάμεις όπου μέχρι στιγμής ήταν οι «εγγυήτριες» δυνάμεις του Αγίου Όρους και που εκπροσωπούσαν την Βουλγαρία, την Σερβία και την Ρωσσία και καθίσταται αντιληπτό ότι εάν και εφόσον οιαδήποτε τέτοια κίνηση λάβει χώρα ιδίως ενάντια στο ρώσικο μοναστήρι οι συνέπειες θα είναι ισχυρές σε επίπεδο διπλωματίας.
Τέλος, αξίζει να αναφερθεί, ότι σήμερα φέρεται να ανακοινώθηκε σε έναν μοναχό της Ιεράς Μονής Βατοπεδίου να εγκαταλείψει το κελί του ο οποίος ονομάζεται Πατέρας Ιωσήφ χωρίς να φαίνεται να υφίσταται κάποια αιτιολογία – τουλάχιστον μέχρι στιγμής – αλλά από ό,τι φαίνεται η κυβέρνηση φέρεται να προβαίνει σε κάποιου είδους «κατάληψη» του Αγίου Όρους με αυτού του είδους τις εκκαθαρίσεις.
Άραγε ποιο είναι το συμφέρον της κυβέρνησης Μητσοτάκη εάν ευσταθούν οι ως άνω πληροφορίες; Αυτήν την στιγμή λέγεται ότι υπάρχει ήδη μία αντιπροσωπεία του Πατριαρχείο στο Άγιο Όρος όπου προβαίνει σε επαφές με τους αντιπροσώπους των Ιερών Μονών. Η Τρίτη λέγεται ότι είναι μία ιδιαιτέρως κρίσιμη ημέρα καθώς θα κληθούν οι υπόλοιπες μονές με την υπογραφή τους να εγκρίνουν ή όχι τις όποιες κινήσεις οι οποίες θα είναι πρωτόγνωρες για τα δεδομένα του Αγίου Όρους μέσα στο Περιβόλι της Παναγίας.

The Greek authorities intend to clean up the monastery of St. Panteleimon on Mount Athos, mass media
A rally against the actions of the authorities was held in Ouranopolis.
On July 21, a rally was held in Ouranopolis against the authorities’ actions, Newsfire. gr reports. The authorities plan to evict monks from the Esphigmen monastery with the help of the police and special equipment.
Moreover, according to the publication’s sources, the power scenario of the clean-up is also provided for the Russian monastery of St. Panteleimon, and the police will also enter the Bulgarian, Romanian, and Serbian monasteries.
According to an editorial source from Mount Athos, the situation on the Holy Mountain is as follows: “Washington set the task of changing the status of the monastic republic. There should not be an uncontrolled hotbed of free-thinking and independence in Greece. And for this you need to take the last place in the country where the power belongs to monks – the monastic republic of the Holy Mount Athos. The first step will be the opening of a new police station to monitor the situation in the monastic republic. Both criminal and political. Basically, the task of the Greek authorities is to reform the monastic republic. The government needs to remove its autonomy and independence so that everything is under control and there are no places where even potential opponents of the government can be.”
As SPJ reported, the police on Mount Athos are preparing to storm the Esphigmen monastery.
I hope that the Greek people will protest these infringements not by the hundreds but by the thousands and tens of thousands. Mountain Athos survived many attacks and sometimes it was protected by the Holy Virgin. I hope the satanists that are set to destroy our faith will be put to shame once again. This is too serious to ignore. All orthodox people should protest.
Ironically, Panteleimonos monastery “became” Russian, in the very late 1800s / early 1900s, when the Patriarch of the time was reportedly eagerly accepting a lot of Russian money (bribes), allowed the arrival of many Russian monks (many were czarist government agents in disguise). Under those conditions, back in the day, at some point, the Russian population of Panteleimonos exceeded the Greek one, making it easy for a Russian abbot to be elected. When elder Daniel vehemently complained to the Patriarch about the incremental arrival of Russians that were not being vetted through the normal monastic novice-to-monk process of Panteleimonos, the Patriarch reportedly asked to “stop complaining”, and threatened him with imprisonment, as well as to turn him over to the Sultan on charges of espionage (Mt. Athos was not liberated until 1912). Elder Daniel’s embittered response was to ask for a hermitage, and the rest is history about how he established the brotherhood of the Δανιηλαιοι, whose masterful “diakonima” of chanting made them the pre-eminent chanters at monastery vigils on all monasteries of Mt. Athos for the next 100+ years. The 3d in succession Elder Daniel passed away a couple years ago at the age of 90 or so, but there are plenty of youtube recordings of the Δανιηλαιοι from the past 30-40 years that you all can listen to. He was actually a very solid and spiritual monk too, not just a great chanter.
Nevertheless, it would be ironic for a Patriarch today to be “accepting Ukranian money”, and removing Russians who had “taken over” Panteleimonos about 130 years ago when the Patriarch of the time was “accepting Russian czarist money”… Perhaps Epiphanios has put in a formal request for a Mt. Athos monastery as well these days?…hmmm…Esphigmenou would be quite convenient, wouldn’t it (even though only 7 out of the 20 monasteries had agrred to send a delegation to Epiphanios’ enthronement, which means such an “invasion” probably wouldn’t fly yet)? :)

Esphigmenou has a a 20+ year history of court cases with Bartholomew that led to the “authorization” for police intervention. As of now, there is no known similar judicial paper trail that can be used to enforce action upon any other monastery in Mt. Athos. However, there does a general decree that Bartholomew issued several years ago, threatening that any Athonite monk that “defies” or publicly criticizes the Patriarch would be evicted from the Holy Mountain…yet, that remains a spiritual matter for now, not necessarily a court matter, and it’s hard to generalize a mass eviction on those grounds as well, especially without widespread resistance and protest, let alone gather sufficient paperwork to involve the police and a government that has limits to how much “political cost” they are willing to invest in (as we saw on TV how “decisively” the citizens of Mytilene were assaulting the riot police in their hotel rooms when Mitsotakis tried to enforce the expansion of refugee camps on their island)…there are limits to “forced obedience”, even in Greece…attempts for mass evictions on Mt. Athos would likely trigger worse phenomena, in my assessment.
More than likely, this article is written by someone that is speculating about “what if” the next targets are being planned, vs. concrete information that they are already being targeted for imminent action…
