EDITOR’S NOTE (Nick Stamatakis): The European press has been filled with reports the last few days about the major shift in German policy to start once again in history, arming the Turks (here is a small example). The following is from pentapostagma.gr and, in addition to the German policy shift, it offers the Russian point of view.  We have stressed many times here that geopolitics rarely changes its major trends overtime: Germany, as a land power, was always an ally of the Turks and Greece, a sea power, always an ally of Gr. Britain and America. Russia is a historical enmity with the Turks which persists to this day.  The Russian leadership has a very hard time trusting the “Ottomans” and it shows every step of the way.

German Anti-Aegean Weapons Package – 100 Heavy Missiles and Torpedoes For the Turkish Navy

The German Security Council, meeting in secret, recently gave the green light to the supply of German weapons worth several hundred million euros to our NATO partner, Turkey.
These include 100 anti-aircraft missiles and torpedoes for the Turkish navy as well as large packages of materials to modernize Turkish submarines and frigates.

The approvals come from a list of the Ministry of Finance for Parliament. Similarly, German arms company MBDA is allowed to supply Turkey with 100 guided missiles for the air defense of Turkish warships. The financial scope of the deal is not specifically mentioned in the list, but the price of the RAM missiles is likely to be around 100 million euros. The German Security Council also approved the delivery of 28 SeaHake torpedoes from the naval department of Thyssenkrupp for 156 million euros.

In addition to this, the list also contains two other arms deals. Various consortia of German defense companies are allowed to supply material packages for the modernization of Turkish U209 submarines, with a budget of 79 million euros. The delivery of engine components for Turkish corvettes and frigates worth EUR 1.9 million was also approved. euro. In total, the arms package for Turkey is likely to amount to around EUR 336 million. euro.

The Turks are in a hurry to equip their Navy, and the question is why?
The Aegean Sea and events in the Eastern Mediterranean prompted Ankara to move quickly to strengthen its Navy. The issue of the negotiation of the Greek side with the French for the acquisition of a 4th FDI Frigate and the installation of a SCALP NAVAL cruise missile launch system (A-50) on at least two Greek Frigates, but also on the 4th after the negotiations with Paris, has worried the Turkish deep state.

The reason for Turkey’s concern is that the Turks see that their plan to dominate the Aegean Sea with Corvettes, Frigates and Reis-class submarines, equipped with ATMACA cruise missiles, is literally going for a walk. Turkish policy strongly reminiscent of the Ottoman Empire, threats in Israel and the Eastern Mediterranean, and especially Ankara’s application to join the BRICS, gave Greece the green light to acquire strategic weapons with which any Turkish attempt to challenge in the Aegean will have a terrible response for Turkey.

Dugin: Turkey is controlled by an uncontrollable high authority, the deep state

Putin’s Russian adviser and philosopher, A. Dugin, was enigmatic about Turkey, prejudging possible developments between the two countries. Apparently there in Moscow they have noticed Erdogan’s double game with the West and themselves, and they fear a new Turkish penetration into the Caucasus, combined with pan-Turkish plans that suit the Westerners.
Dugin says: “From this plot of the political history of modern Turkey some general conclusions can be drawn.

So a deep situation exists and makes sense in Turkey where there is a democratic electoral system. Above this system there is an unelected military-political power, which follows a very specific ideology (independent of the victory of one party or another). There is a secret society (for example, of the Masonic type) that unites the Turkish military-political elite.

The deep state becomes obvious, especially when obvious contradictions begin between the formal rules of democracy and the power of this elite (otherwise the very existence of the deep state is not obvious). The deep state is only possible in a liberal democracy, even nominally. When dealing with overtly totalitarian political systems, as in the case of fascism or communism, there is no need for a deep state.

Here in Turkey, we have a strictly ideological group, openly recognized as the highest authority, which places itself above official laws. The one-party rule underscores this model of governance, and no ideological or political opposition is expected. This deep state appears as a phenomenon of “hidden totalitarianism”, and not only does it not reject democracy and the multi-party system in general, but manages it, manipulates them with discretion.

Communists and fascists openly recognize the need for a dominant ideology, and this makes their political-ideological power direct and overt. Liberals deny this ideology, but they constantly seek it. This means that they influence political processes based on liberalism as a doctrine, but only implicitly, secretly.

Liberalism reveals its openly totalitarian and ideological character only when there is a contradiction between itself and the democratic political processes in a society. Liberalism and democracy are not the same thing, since democracy in some cases may not be liberal at all, as is the case in Turkey,” he said. Hidden political and military elites control Turkey, with hidden plans, which in this case directly target Greece and Cyprus, which is why Hellenism must be ready for anything, especially from now on.
