EDITOR’S NOTE (Nick Stamatakis): I could not believe my ears when I heard Telly Savalas speak perfect Greek without an accent! These were different times, you may say… And you are right. Savalas was born in the heart of Long Island in Garden City in 1922 and grew up in a tight family and community… But do not tell me that it is not “possible”! It is possible, especially nowadays, with so many “apps” and language-teaching videos. Especially if the extra motivation of the “Classical Education” (Greek, Lain, STEAM) is now regaining ground in Europe. At some point, we will all have to face the harsh reality that the failure of the West is mainly a failure of our Educational system. We produce leaders like the plagiarists Kamala and Joe Biden and in Europe like Ursula Von Der l.eyen, Olaf Scholz and the rest of the EU circus… If our educational system is to improve, it needs to return to the classical foundations…

I miss Telly. What a “man’s man”.
He reminds me of the late Anthony Quinn, who was asked several decades ago about machismo. The tenor of the question was that it was somehow wrong to be macho. He answered thusly: “All machismo means is that this is what it means to be a man.”
Hopefully, the pendulum will swing back to the right in the West.
