EDITOR’S NOTE (Nick Stamatakis). The destructive foreign policy followed by Mitsotakis reached one more landmark: The Greek prime minister is set to deliver the S-300 missiles (currently protecting Crete and much of the air space between Greece and Cyprus) along with other Russian-made air defenses (currently protecting the Eastern Aegean Islands) to Armenia!! It is truly an atrocious decision that filled the Greek online media the last 2-3 days, starting with Enikos.gr while many others followed. The excuse offered by the government is that Greece plans to set up an “Iron Dome” over the whole country, especially the Aegean, provided by Israel, which will cost over $2 billion.  Let me enumerate the problems with Mitsotakis’s decision here:

• Just a few years ago, Israel was begging Greece to let its Air Force practice on the Greek S-300 systems stationed in Crete, and Greece accommodated (probably violating its contractual obligations with Russia).  Why? Because Iran had and still has (!!) the same systems. These S-300S were successful (along with the S-400 and other systems provided by Russia) in defending the recent Israeli attack against Iran with three waves of F-35s.  It is now a known fact that these systems locked in the last two waves of F-35s attacking Iran and forced them to turn around and hide in their bases.
• How did the Greek S-300 suddenly become obsolete? Greek engineers, known for their ingenuity, made extensive improvements on the Russian missiles fairly early on. The missiles were advanced. Yes, Greece cannot order parts from Russia because of the sanctions but the solution would be to find parts from countries like Bulgaria and Armenia and not sell them!!
• The Israeli Iron Dome has proven to have many holes in the last few months.  Even the Houthi “goat herders” from Yemen shot missiles through it – not to say anything about Hezbollah and Iran.
• In addition, Mitsotakis plans to sell short-range air defense systems TOR M1 and OSA AKM, also from Russia. Although these may be aging, they can still effectively defend the Eastern Aegean islands.
• Russia will likely deal decisively with Armenia and force it to abandon any idea of aligning with the West. Since Russia already has expansive military and air force bases in Armenia, this will be much easier than, let’s say, Ukraine or Georgia.
• Russia has already expressed “dissatisfaction” with Mitsotakis’s decisions. Does Mitsotakis think Greece is too far away for the advanced Russian missiles?  Please take a look at our main photo, a map released by Russia with possible European targets of a Russian response to NATO hitting deep in Russian territory with missiles. • Talking about Souda Bay: Those of us who know Crete can tell you that the Mitsotakis family compound in Agios Matheos in Chania is overlooking Souda Bay.  The “Family” considers Souda Bay “their backyard” and they have been “exchanging” it with the American Deep State since the early 1960s when George Bush Sr. was CIA director. A notorious proverbial phrase in Greece refers to the “dolmadakia” by Marika (Constantine Mitsotakis’s wife) the Bushes enjoyed in Crete overlooking Souda Bay!!
• Lately, we see resurfacing online the old idea that NATO nukes should be stored at Souda Bay.  It’s a horrific idea coming from sick minds.  Here is the repost on “X” by our friend and experienced diplomat Jim Jatras:

What’s going on with Armenia? Kremlin’s dissatisfaction with Greece’s intention to “de-Russify” the equipment of the Greek Armed Forces

Athens’ intention to deliver Russian-made weapons to Armenia seems to have provoked Moscow’s anger at the Greek government’s intention since there are wild plans for Armenia and the current Pashinyan government. The main reason is that the Russians fear Pashinyan’s moves towards the West, and have bluntly warned Yerevan long ago that in the event of a turn to the West, Armenia would become Ukraine. We recall that outside Armenia’s capital, Yerevan, there is a very strong Russian base that controls a large part of the country.

Athens was suddenly embroiled in Russian and US military plans for Armenia

Greece, according to the Greek press (Enikos.gr), has the delivery of S-300, Tor-M1 and Osa-AKM missiles as an option. in Armenia, i.e. almost all Russian equipment of the Greek Armed Forces. But Moscow does not like this at all, and through the state-controlled newspaper Gazeta.ru, it communicates its dissatisfaction with Athens’ possible move towards Yerevan regarding the delivery of Greek S-300, Tor-M1, and Osa-AKM systems and, generally, the “de-Russification” of the Greek Armed Forces’ equipment.
The Russian newspaper even cited a statement by Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova on June 19, 2024.

The same newspaper reports that “the possible supply of Caesar wheeled guns to Armenia from France is another step that provokes a new round of conflict in the Transcaucasus.
Earlier, Zakharova called on Yerevan to stop the “endless fuss” around the CSTO organization of countries. According to the Russian newspaper, “the command of the Greek army intends to resolutely continue the “de-Russification” of its arsenal and completely replace the existing old systems with new Western technologies.
Therefore, the Hellenic National Defense General Staff will provide Armenia with Russian S-300, Tor-M1 and Osa-AKM air defense systems. Instead, Greece will buy new Israeli systems worth about $2 billion. They will become part of the “Iron Dome” that is being created throughout the Aegean region,” he concludes.

Armenia will become Ukraine if it joins the West.

Russia has long warned Armenia not to ally itself with the West and expressed concern that if that happened, the country would follow the same path as Ukraine. Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov has previously said Armenia has the right to choose its own political direction, but Moscow hopes to avoid a repeat of geopolitical change in Ukraine.
Russia used to be seen as Armenia’s “protector power” in the Caucasus. However, relations between the two countries have cooled due to Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan having a pro-Western policy. Peskov has stressed that Russia still sees Armenia as an ally and wants to continue cooperation with it, but Pashinyan has opened up games with France acting as a precursor to the US.
