Operation Timber Sycamore was a classified program initiated by the United States Central Intelligence Agency (CIA) during the Obama administration, with the objective of training and equipping Syrian rebel groups to overthrow President Bashar al-Assad’s regime. General Clark recounted being informed of a Pentagon plan shortly after the September 11 attacks, which outlined intentions to target seven countries within five years: Iraq, Syria, Lebanon, Libya, Somalia, Sudan, and Iran. A former commander of NATO’s forces in Europe, Clark claims he met a senior military officer in Washington in November 2001 who told him the Bush administration was planning to attack Iraq first before taking action against Syria, Lebanon, Libya, Iran, Somalia and Sudan.
The general’s allegations surface in a new book, The Clark Critique, excerpts from which appear in the latest edition of the US magazine Newsweek.
Clark says after the 11 September 2001 attacks, many Bush administration officials seemed determined to move against Iraq, invoking the idea of state sponsorship of terrorism, “even though there was no evidence of Iraqi sponsorship of 9/11 whatsoever”.
Ousting Saddam Hussein promised concrete, visible action, the general writes, dismissing it as a “Cold War approach”.
Clark criticises the plan to attack the seven states, saying it targeted the wrong countries, ignored the “real sources of terrorists”, and failed to achieve “the greater force of international law” that would bring wider global support.

There is no doubt that Israel controls most if not all of American foreign policy in the Middle East. That is nothing new, and while the CIA operates covertly, much is already known. And this pro Israel policy is not followed by one political party or some administrations, democratic or republican. As a matter of fact, both parties attempt to outdo each other in their devotion to Israel. We all know why that is so. Because of the Jewish American lobby.
While I wouldn’t waste my time listening to Tucker, from the article itself, I surmise that the so called “Arab spring” is portrayed as a doing of the American Jewish lobby. I’m sure that Jews had a hand in the flaming of passions, as they never waste a chance to improve their lot. But change of regime in the Arab nations did not guarantee peace in the region. With Syria being the longest lasting conflegration. However, it weakened them enough to leave Israel alone for a long time, while precious resources were expanded in internecine wars. Of course, no outsider can start a revolution, unless there is oppression. And there was plenty of that in the Arab world.
Looking at the situation from our vantage point, Israel did come out on top. Her biggest enemy, Saudi Arabia is ready to make peace. Iran itself has been hobbled and has given up its trouble making policy. I wouldn’t be surprised if Iran itself changes its anti-Israel, anti-Western outlook.
