Catherine Whiteford urged those persecuting UOC believers to cease the persecution and repent, warning that “time is short.”

On January 20, 2025, during Donald Trump’s inauguration day, Catherine Whiteford, leader of the youth wing of the Republican Party, delivered a statement promising punishment for all persecutors of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church (UOC).

In her address, Whiteford noted that the inauguration of President Trump has filled people with hope, with many eagerly anticipating swift action from the administration.

“This moment is historic for a number of reasons, but more than anything I believe history will remember this as the moment when everyday American Christians finally had enough and took our country back, it is the beginning of the end for the illiberal godlessness which has reigned for too long in the Christian Wes,” she said.

According to Whiteford, “Trump’s inauguration also serves as a ray of hope for suffering Christians around the world.”

“This is especially true for Orthodox Christians, whose persecution is an issue of key interest to the administration. Today, the United States reaffirms once more its role as the global defender of Christians; we are united behind the administration in this mission, and the tyrants of the world are being put on notice,” Whiteford emphasized.

“To those oppressing Christians, especially to those who are persecuting the faithful of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church, the UOC, I would like to deliver this message: Retribution is coming. If you stop the persecution and repent now, you may spare yourselves from the coming justice, but time is short,” the politician declared.

At the end of her address, she turned to Orthodox believers in Ukraine:
“Orthodox Ukrainians, faithful to the UOC, fear nothing! The Lord is with you, your time will come soon!”

Earlier, the UOJ reported that Trump had promised not to forget about God.

  1. I wouldn’t put any stock in this. Who put the Nazis in power in 2014 and has financially supported and armed them with the purpose of destroying Russia and let’s be honest destroying Orthodoxy…who thought this all up and executed it, including doing whatever was necessary to have Bartholomew excommunicate himself.

And let’s not forget get the Orthodox Christians and all Christians who suffer in Israel and are being murdered in The West Bank, Gaza, Syria and Lebanon. Who put the Zionists in power…to distinguish the followers of the Talmud from the true followers of the Torah.

If the U.S. isn’t in control, then at the very least, it’s the enforcer.

Christian’s are being beaten in Ukraine, beaten, bombed and shot in the Middle East and behead by the terrorists put in power by the U.S.

    • Many of the things you say are true. However, this is a start. As Christians I believe we are to be hopeful, not pessimistic.

  2. Stop the money flow and it will all be gone very, very soon… I am grateful to anyone that speaks up on this situation. Those people over there are really suffering. I thank Catherine Whiteford for speaking about this. I am astonished how many OCs still have no clue about this at all.

  3. God bless this beautiful young lady and her powerful voice! I ask every faithful Orthodox Christian who reads this to set aside what time you can over the next week to amplify her voice! Send her statement to your Senators and Congressmen. Send it to the appropriate people at the State Department and National Security Council. Thanks be to God for her witness!

  4. Glory be to God! We already mostly know all their global, geopolitical motives (imagine what we really don’t know that’s worrisome to say the least), but must never give up hope in Christ. The more we complain and get the word out, and place more pressure on these pseudo-politicians, the more justice for the suffering all over the world not just Ukraine. It’s a start to say the least…. Greek American parishes need to end their woke agenda and help. Let’s see if the Sunday collection baskets will go around for the UOC, Gaza, Palestine and Syria? I pray they do.
