EDITOR’S NOTE (Nick Stamatakis).  This is remarkable!! Klavdia (Papadopoulou), a granddaughter of Pontian refugees (you can read her fascinating biography at the bottom of this post), won first place in Greece’s Eurovision contest with a song that resonates 4-5,000 years of Hellenic cultural tradition… It takes us back to her family roots in Pontos –  and not simply the Anatolian Pontos but to the Russian Pontian refugees – the same people that the “siding with the winning side of history” utterly stupid Mitsotakis government ignored… Because it is a well-known fact that Hellenic and Pontian culture dominated what is now Southern Russia and Ukraine for thousands of years!! In the end, the song laments the worst part of this history – being a refugee and being violently uprooted from your ancestral lands…

The song is fantastic; both the vocals and the lyrics are world-class!! If you look online, you will see tens of raving reviews by people who have never heard a Greek song or one word of Greek!!  This song is a testament to the power of our culture!! A culture that any shallow and self-interested globalist machinations cannot eliminate!! A culture that created the Politics, Philosophy, Science, and Arts of Western Civilization for the last three thousand years!! A culture that will come back one way or the other to define the future of humanity – which just started being reshaped – with the revival of peaceful Hellenic Cosmopolitanism, away from the destructive and exploitative crusaders/colonialists/ imperialists that led humanity to the brink in the last 1,000 years…

Turkey has already reacted by threatening they “will express their discontent at the highest diplomatic level” (link here), because the song supposedly references the Genocides… In essence, they can do nothing to prohibit the song’s participation in the Eurovision finals (This May 13 in Switzerland – very close to the date we commemorate the Genocides on May 19!). The song’s effect will be mostly felt inside Greece and among the Diaspora: it will be a clear signal of the revival of our culture and ethnicity, very much in tune with the wave of patriotism now sweeping the Globe!! The first sign of such revival was Marina Satti’s “Mantissa” (link here). I am sure others follow the same cultural trend, so I would like your suggestions.

By the way, “Asteromata” (“the starry-eyed woman”) was an adjective given to women around Smyrna… Most of the western analysts – and now entousiasts – of this sound do not realize that the word “star’ comes from the Greek (Ancient “astir”, modern “asteri or astro”)…

Η Klavdia με το τραγούδι “Αστερομάτα” είναι η μεγάλη νικήτρια του Εθνικού τελικού για την Eurovision 2025

Η Κλαυδία Παπαδοπούλου, γνωστή καλλιτεχνικά ως Klavdia, είναι η μεγάλη νικήτρια του Εθνικού τελικού και η καλλιτέχνιδα που θα μας εκπροσωπήσει στη φετινή Eurovision 2025, στη Βασιλεία της Ελβετίας. Η νεαρή Klavdia κατάφερε να κεντρίσει το ενδιαφέρον του κοινού με τη συμμετοχή της στον εθνικό τελικό για τη Eurovision 2025 και παρά το γεγονός πως είναι γεννημένη το 2003, δείχνει έτοιμη για την μεγάλη διοργάνωση.

Μεγαλώνοντας στον Ασπρόπυργο Αττικής, από πολύ νεαρή ηλικία έδειξε ιδιαίτερη κλίση στη μουσική. Το 2018, σε ηλικία 15 ετών, συμμετείχε στο μουσικό διαγωνισμό “The Voice of Greece”, όπου με την καθοδήγηση της Έλενας Παπαρίζου έφτασε μέχρι τον τελικό, εντυπωσιάζοντας με τις ερμηνείες της.

Το 2020, η Klavdia έκανε το δισκογραφικό της ντεμπούτο με το τραγούδι “Lonely Heart”, το οποίο αγαπήθηκε ιδιαίτερα από το ελληνικό κοινό. Συνεργάζεται επίσης με την Panik Records και την ομάδα παραγωγών Arcade, με την οποία έχει κυκλοφορήσει επιτυχημένα singles όπως τα “Χαράματα”, “Βασανίζομαι” και “Μαγεμένα”.

Το 2023, είχε επιχειρήσει ξανά να εκπροσωπήσει την Ελλάδα στη Eurovision με το τραγούδι “Holy Water”, χωρίς όμως να επιλεγεί. Φέτος όμως επέστρεψε δυναμικά με το τραγούδι “Αστερομάτα”, το οποίο της έδωσε και το πολυπόθητο εισιτήριο για την Eurovision. Μάλιστα πρόκειται και για ένα ιδιαίτερα συναισθηματικό τραγούδι, το οποίο αντλεί έμπνευση από τον ξεριζωμό των Ποντίων -θέμα που αγγίζει ιδιαίτερα την ίδια, λόγω της ποντιακής της καταγωγής. Το κομμάτι έχει έντονα ελληνικά στοιχεία και συγκίνησε το κοινό από την πρώτη στιγμή.
