EDITOR’S NOTE (Nick Stamatakis): As I watched this beautiful documentary about Manos Hadjidakis, it was hard to believe that such a productive, multi-faceted life could be contained in just 18 minutes! If you can understand Greek well enough, enjoy it!! It starts with the reason why he did not go to Hollywood to accept the Oscar for “Never On Sunday,” a song (“The Children of Piraeus”).  That song was among the 10 most commercial songs of the 20th century globally!! But for Manos, it was a disaster because it misrepresented his talent and destroyed his relationship with the public!!  When Melina Mercuri heard this statement, she responded: “Well, this song does not have a father, but it certainly has a mother!!!
