Helleniscope has information that General Poppas will not participate in the Parade…
By Nick Stamatakis
Philp Christopher, Yiannis Stroumbakis, and the rest of the Parade Committee made every possible effort to show that all was OK last Thursday and that everything was going as planned. The money was coming, the participants were registering, and the details were taken care of. But an objective observer could see from far away that things were not as “picture-perfect” as the organizers wanted to project…
- The meeting was clouded by the prohibition on Maria Karystianou’s participation in the parade, and the disgust in the audience was palpable. Yes, it was a prohibition “just because” some did not like her to overshadow the parade with a worthy message, and they called her likely participation “political”.
- But when the PASOK leader Timoleon Zionghas announced that PASOK President Nikos Androulakis would participate, nobody was concerned at all!! Just a minute, gentlemen!! Wasn’t it you and all of us who, a few years ago, agreed that NO political leader from Greece is welcome to our Parade? Because they betrayed our national causes, particularly the “Name of Macedonia”? Has anything changed? No, nothing changed… If anything, things are worse now… Mitsotakis, Androulakis, and Kasselakis – the three “leaders” who bring shame to Crete – have cooperated on several issues. They cooperated in passing the same sex marriage bill, and they still seem to cooperate on a globalist foreign policy that renders Greece with unprotected borders, flooded with illegal migrants, and subject to all kinds of threats on its sovereignty by Turkey!! They do NOT belong among us!!

- Theodore Pavlakos, a well-respected leader with 4-5 decades of experience in the Community and the Federation affairs, president of the Epidavrou-Limiras Association (Laconia), announced that his association will withhold participation and funding from the Parade. Why? Because they disagreed with allowing Vangelis Mariakis, who is CURRENTLY under criminal investigation, to be a Grand Marshall!! Finally, a leader who has the courage to come out and say things like they truly are!! The rest are hiding behind their fingers!! They know this is wrong but they keep silent…

- Finally, Helleniscope received information from credible sources that 4-star General Andrew Poppas will NOT participate in the Parade as originally announced. I asked the Parade Chairman, Yiannis Stroumbakis, if he could verify it, and he answered that “he had not heard such thing”. Hopefully, this coming Thursday, he will be able to…
- But let’s try for a minute to walk in General Poppas’ shoes: He has an impeccable record and a 37-year career (link here to see for yourselves). He is dealing with a new administration that is dramatically changing EVERYTHING in the Pentagon and foreign policy. How does it help him to walk down Fifth Avenue next to someone, V. Marinakis, who is indicted (or about to be) for racketeering? It does not look right… And from what I hear, the General has second thoughts. Would the Parade Chairmen find out and explain to the rest of us? If true, please be specific about why he might not be with us.
- Finally, as I was leaving the Stathakeion and heading towards my parked car, I was once again confronted by the main “Orangutan,” Tassos Karagounis. Holding in his right hand something that looked like a stick, he started cursing and threatening me. He stopped only when I told him that I was calling the Police. Will the Parade Committee and Nomiki control this thug? Or should I call the Police during the next meeting? Why does a thug like Karagounis have a place in any function of the Parade? Mrs. Nomiki, he belongs to your side… This is the second time in two months that he has threatened me… All of you, keep him away from the Parade functions. You don’t want to spend the next meeting at the Police Station, do you?
