It’s a compelling biographical TV series that chronicles the life and spiritual journey of Saint Paisios the Athonite, one of the most beloved Orthodox Christian monks of the 20th century. The series takes viewers from his humble beginnings in the village of Farasa in Cappadocia (modern-day Turkey), through his family’s forced migration to Greece during the population exchange, and finally to his monastic life on Mount Athos, often referred to as “Heaven on Earth.”
Set against the backdrop of historical upheavals and deep faith, the show explores themes of sacrifice, divine calling, and spiritual transformation. It gives a touching portrayal of Saint Paisios’s unwavering devotion, the miracles attributed to him, and the profound impact he had on those around him. You can watch below Episodes 1-3 of Season 1 with English subtitles, and episodes 4-9 in Greek only. The series opens in Farasa, a village in Cappadocia, where Saint Paisios is born on July 25, 1924, during a period of significant turmoil. His birth coincides with the forced migration of Greek Orthodox Christians from Asia Minor to Greece, following the Greco-Turkish War and the subsequent population exchange. This upheaval sets the stage for the family’s arduous journey ahead. Led by the revered elder Arsenios, the villagers, including Saint Paisios’s family, embark on a challenging journey toward Greece. Throughout their travels, they face numerous hardships, including displacement, uncertainty, and the emotional toll of leaving their homeland. Despite these challenges, their unwavering faith, combined with the guidance of Elder Arsenios, provides them with strength and hope. This inaugural episode establishes the foundational themes of the series: faith, resilience, and the profound impact of spiritual leadership. It sets the tone for Saint Paisios’s life journey, highlighting the early influences that shape his path toward sainthood.

Plex cannot show in the US. I have just posted all 9 episodes in the same post. Unfortunately the last 6 do not have English subtitles.. I am working to find the best solution. I am sure in time we will have all of them in English subtitles.

Hi, I think YouTube can make subtitles appear in other languages, like Spanish. Please.
I usually use YouTube videos preset in English. But if something goes wrong you can arrange it your selves by going to settings and changing the language.

Obviously there are copyright issues. We shall see how this can be corrected. May be the Mt.Athos website (pemptousia.tv) can publish them later? Mt.Athos financed the series. I am sure the holy fathers can make such arrangements in time.

The series was (at least partly but likely primarily financed and produced by the Institute “St.Maximus the Greek”, which is supported by Mt. Athos monasteries. I have emailed them, a few months ago, to make the series public. No response so far. I think they are likely limited by copyrights and other legal issues.
