EDITOR’S NOTE (Nick Stamatakis).  Last Sunday evening, we had the opportunity to enjoy an excellent presentation by Lou Katsos on the context, the historic events, and the consequences of the Fall of Constantinople in 1453. Below you can watch the whole video – a very informative and lively speech.

The event was accompanied by a performance of “tzouras” by Mike Savvas who wrote a composition inspired by the “Fall of the City”.  Also, Stelios Taketzis of Cosmos FM presented his memories of growing up in Constantinople…

Finally, I could not help but notice the complete absence of ANY members of the side of the Federation headed by Nomiki Kastana. This was a perfect opportunity to demonstrate their orientation to reconciliation: a speech by next year’s Parade Chairman, Lou Katsos, whom they have already voted for… The occasion was the definition of a “unifying moment” for all Hellenes. What is their problem? If they fail to do the right thing in such simple situations, what will they do when their choices are more complex? It was yet another failure to demonstrate leadership in our community…
