Mitsotakis Government In Panic! The Ground Is Shaking Under Their Feet!
EDITOR’S NOTE (Nick Stamatakis). In a powerful and critical speech at the War Museum during the presentation of Stavros Lygeros’ book “The Invisible Aspects of the the War In Ukraine” (YOU CAN WATCH THE FULL VIDEO BELOW) former Greek Prime Minister Costas Karamanlis argued that the West has strategically lost in the war in Ukraine and urged Greece to pursue an independent, interest-based foreign policy. While condemning Russia’s invasion, Karamanlis sharply criticized the Western “war party” for escalating the conflict and turning it into a Manichaean ideological struggle, while failing to account for their provocations and missteps, including ignoring Turkey’s aggression in Cyprus and the Aegean.
Equally influential were the speeches by former PM Antonis Samaras and former Minister of Finance Alekos Papadopoulos. But the impact of Karamanlis’ speech cannot be underestimated.
Karamanlis noted that Ukraine and Europe are the main losers of this war, with Europe paying a high price for following Washington’s lead, sacrificing its energy stability and credibility. He described the European Union as incapable of formulating an autonomous strategic direction, improvising its way through a crisis that should have been an opportunity to assert leadership. He highlighted the hypocrisy of the EU, which demonizes Russia but appeases an aggressive Turkey—despite the latter’s occupation of EU territory in Cyprus and constant threats against Greece.
Despite Greece’s complete alignment with the West in supporting Ukraine, Karamanlis emphasized that Athens received no reciprocal support on its national security concerns. Turkey, meanwhile, has emerged “upgraded” by playing the “cunning neutral,” securing a mediating role in the conflict and positioning itself as a pillar of Western security, even as it continues its regional aggression. Karamanlis warned that this misplaced trust could result in Greece falling into a position of regional subordination, where nothing could happen in the Eastern Mediterranean without Turkish approval.
He denounced the Greek government’s strategy of “calm waters” with Ankara as dangerously naive, criticizing its silence on Turkish provocations, such as maritime planning that encroaches on Greek sovereignty. The suspension of energy interconnections in the Aegean, he said, signals unacceptable compromises that threaten Greece’s territorial integrity.
Karamanlis concluded that Greece must stop outsourcing its security to unreliable allies, expose the EU’s duplicity, and act decisively to assert its sovereign rights. In a rapidly fragmenting world order defined by spheres of influence and brute force, he warned that only a clear-eyed, independent, and assertive foreign policy can protect Greek interests. The West, in Karamanlis’s view, has lost its strategic compass, and Greece must now look inward and pursue what is best for itself.
BELOW ARE THE THREE SPEECHES BY KARAMANLIS, SAMARAS, AND PAPADOPOULOS

No wonder the US tried to assassinate him. He is one of the few in Greece who is realistic and actually loves Greece. Tried to come to an agreement with Russia because he believed Greece was actually an independent country.
I don’t think that Karamanlis, the nephew of the traitor of Cyprus, believed that Greece is an independent country. He thought that he could make it a little independent, but when the US deep state threatened his family, he resigned and didn’t even speak publicly for years… You can see how high is the country in his priorities…
The Greeks should expel all Muslim illegal immigrants build their own defense industry , produce drones, increase military service to 24 months for men and women and start producing natural gas if they truly want to survive
The Greeks should expel all foreign bases, withdraw from NATO, and liberate their Church from the influence of the anti Orthodox governments of America and Ukraine.
Greeks need to regain their independence and not be a western client state.
Karamanlis is a good talker, but unfortunately, his tenure was marked by riots, that had burned and destroyed large sections of Athens, accidents–such as the helicopter that killed the Alexandrian patriarch and his etourage–and of course, his guiding Greece right into depression. His words carry no weight. He is not Obama, who’s the democratic party’s elder statesman. If his name wasn’t Karamanlis, he would not haver been anywhere near government.
Samaras is also another has been, that tries to stay relevant by shooting his mouth. Her had an unsuccessful tenure and paved the way for Tsipra’s ascendence. Both are losers. hanging on to parliament for the stipend.
You forgot to tell us who organised the riots that marked Karamanlis’ tenure… Let me give you a hand: the same foreign intelligence that tried to assassinate him and his wife and kids…
Rossides and Pantion brought Yoryaki and Kostaki to the Madison Hotel in September 1994 so we could meet them. My family has always been center right, Βασιλευόμενη Δημοκρατία. But he was red from being drunk the entire day. He has Korsacof Dementia, just like RFK and will hallucinate about everything.
