EDITOR’S NOTE (Nick Stamatakis) They call him the “Green Patriarch” — a self-appointed title Ecumenical Patriarch Bartholomew has long used to parade his so-called ecological sensitivities on the global stage. But in a stunning display of hypocrisy, the Patriarch will soon arrive in the United States, as he usually does, aboard a private jet belonging to one of his billionaire “Archons” — one of the most environmentally destructive ways to travel, leaving behind a massive carbon footprint.

And for what purpose? To receive the prestigious Templeton Award — specifically for his contributions to environmental awareness. Yes, you read that correctly: he will burn thousands of gallons of jet fuel to be honored for his ecological virtue. If this isn’t the perfect amalgam of hypocrisy, what is?

As the faithful are once again asked to fund this grand spectacle, one has to wonder whether the “Green” image is anything more than a well-crafted facade.

Oh — forgive me! I nearly forgot… In his case, “green” has always meant one thing: the “greenback”, the dollar. And once the applause fades, he will quietly take the “cool” $1.5 million cash prize and fly straight to Switzerland, where, sources say, he’ll deposit it into a personal bank account held jointly with his brother. What did you say? Establish a non-profit Foundation that can be audited and controlled, so the faithful —those who are still willing to donate to the Patriarchate—can have a sense of transparency and accountability?  You are nuts!… Such things do not happen in the “Turkish Religious Institution” called the “Constantinople Patriarchate”..

Shame on you, you sleazy fixers. Father Alex is collecting money for the visit of the “destitute” Bartholomew to America

The visit of Ecumenical Patriarch Bartholomew to the United States will be limited to Washington, Virginia, and New York, and he is expected to arrive on September 15 or 16, 2025.

Upon his arrival in America, a thanksgiving Doxology will be held at St. Catherine’s Greek Orthodox Church in Falls Church, Virginia.

Accompanying the Patriarch, according to information from the Phanar (the Ecumenical Patriarchate in Constantinople), will be Metropolitan Theodoritos of Laodicea (director of the Patriarchate’s Athens office) and Metropolitan Maximos of Sylivria.

The Patriarch will spend three days in Washington, where he is scheduled to meet with U.S. President Donald Trump. He will then travel to New York to receive the Templeton Prize.

It is noted that the exact date of the award ceremony has not yet been set.

Additionally, he will visit the Archdiocesan Cathedral of the Holy Trinity in New York to venerate and speak with its priests and officials. On Friday, September 19, he will attend an official dinner organized by the community and the St. Nicholas National Shrine in New York, aimed at raising funds for the Shrine.

During the weekend of September 20–21, the Patriarch will stay with the community of the Dormition of the Theotokos in Southampton, New York, where the Protopresbyter of the Ecumenical Throne, Father Alexander Karloutsos, serves.

He will preside over the Vespers service on Saturday evening, and on Sunday, September 21, he will lead the Divine Liturgy. He will be joined by the Holy Eparchial Synod of the Archdiocese of America.

Due to time constraints, we are told that the Patriarch does not intend to visit Hellenic College Holy Cross in Boston, which is reportedly on track to be transformed into “Holy Cross University,” as previously reported by Ethnikos Kirikas.

However, a group of students from the school, led by its ecclesiarch, Archimandrite Bartholomew Mercado, will travel to the Dormition parish in Southampton to receive the Patriarch’s blessing.

The community will also organize a dinner in the Patriarch’s honor, expected to be attended by around 250 guests.

It is emphasized that the entire organization of the visit has been undertaken by Protopresbyter Alexander Karloutsos, spiritual advisor and counselor to the Order of St. Andrew – Archons of the Ecumenical Patriarchate.

Father Alexander is also responsible for raising the necessary funds to cover the expenses of the Patriarchal visit. It was stated that no burden will fall upon the Metropolises or their communities, as Father Alexander will gather the money from other sources. The entire process of the visit is expected to be coordinated through the Order of St. Andrew, including photographic coverage by the Archons’ official photographer, John Mindala, whose photos will be used as they were during the recent Patriarchal visit to the United Kingdom.

As is known, the use of Archdiocese photographs is prohibited without written permission and justification from its Communications Department. Violators will face legal consequences.

Σε Ουάσιγκτον, Βιρτζίνια και Νέα Υόρκη θα περιοριστεί η επίσκεψη του Πατριάρχη Κωνσταντινουπόλεως Βαρθολομαίου στις Ηνωμένες Πολιτείες, ο οποίος αναμένεται να αφιχθεί στις 15 ή 16 Σεπτεμβρίου 2025.

Άμα τη αφίξει του στην Αμερική θα τελεστεί ευχαριστήρια Δοξολογία στον ιερό ναό της Αγίας Αικατερίνης στην πόλη Falls Church της Βιργινίας.

Τον Πατριάρχη θα συνοδεύουν, σύμφωνα με πληροφορίες από το Φανάρι, ο διευθυντής του Γραφείου του Πατριαρχείου στην Αθήνα Μητροπολίτης Λαοδικείας Θεοδώρητος και ο Μητροπολίτης Σηλυβρίας Μάξιμος.

Ο Πατριάρχης θα παραμείνει τρεις ημέρες συνολικά στην Ουάσιγκτον όπου θα συναντηθεί με τον πρόεδρο των Ηνωμένων Πολιτειών Ντόναλντ Τραμπ και στη συνέχεια θα μεταβεί στη Νέα Υόρκη, όπου θα παραλάβει το Βραβείο Templeton.

Σημειώνεται ότι δεν έχει οριστεί η ακριβής ημερομηνία παραλαβής του Βραβείου.

Επίσης, θα επισκεφθεί τον Αρχιεπισκοπικό Καθεδρικό Ναό της Αγίας Τριάδος Νέας Υόρκης για να προσκυνήσει και συνομιλήσει με τους ιερείς και τους αξιωματούχους του, ενώ την Παρασκευή 19 Σεπτεμβρίου θα παρακαθίσει σε επίσημο δείπνο το οποίο διοργανώνει η κοινότητα και το Εθνικό Προσκύνημα του Αγίου Νικολάου στη Νέα Υόρκη, με στόχο την οικονομική ενίσχυση του Προσκυνήματος.

Το Σαββατοκύριακο 20 και 21 Σεπτεμβρίου ο Πατριάρχης θα το περάσει στην κοινότητα της Κοιμήσεως της Θεοτόκου στο South Hampton της Νέας Υόρκη, στην οποία ως γνωστόν ιερατεύει ο πρωτοπρεσβύτερος του Οικουμενικού Θρόνου Αλέξανδρος Καρλούτσος.

Θα χοροστατήσει στον Εσπερινό κατά το εσπέρας του Σαββάτου, ενώ την Κυριακή 21 Σεπτεμβρίου θα προστεί της Θείας Λειτουργίας. Μαζί του θα συλλειτουργήσει η Ιερά Επαρχιακή Σύνοδος της Αρχιεπισκοπής Αμερικής.

Ο Πατριάρχης, λόγω στενότητας χρόνου όπως μας ελέχθη δεν προτίθεται να επισκεφθεί τη Θεολογική Σχολή του Τιμίου Σταυρού Βοστώνης, της οποίας ως γνωστόν μεθοδεύεται η εξέλιξη σε Πανεπιστήμιο του Τιμίου Σταυρού ή Αγγλιστί Holy Cross University, όπως έχει γράψει ο «Εθνικός Κήρυκας».

Ωστόσο, ομάδα φοιτητών της Σχολής με επικεφαλής τον εκκλησιάρχη της, Αρχιμανδρίτη Βαρθολομαίο Μερκάντο, θα μεταβεί στην κοινότητα της Κοίμησης της Θεοτόκου του South Hampton για να τους ευλογήσει ο Πατριάρχης.

Επίσης, η κοινότητα θα διοργανώσει δείπνο προς τιμήν του Πατριάρχη στο οποίο αναμένεται να παρακαθήσουν περί τους 250 προσκεκλημένους.

Επισημαίνεται ότι τη διοργάνωση της επίσκεψης την έχει αναλάβει εξ’ ολοκλήρου ο πρωτοπρεσβύτερος του Οικουμενικού Θρόνου Αλέξανδρος Καρλούτσος, πνευματικός πατέρας και σύμβουλος του Τάγματος του Αγίου Ανδρέα των Αρχόντων.

 

Ο π. Αλέξανδρος είναι επίσης υπεύθυνος για τη συγκέντρωση των απαιτούμενων οικονομικών πόρων για την κάλυψη των εξόδων της Πατριαρχικής επίσκεψης.

Ελέχθη ότι δεν θα επιβαρυνθούν διόλου οι Μητροπόλεις και οι κοινότητές τους, καθότι ο π. Αλέξανδρος θα συγκεντρώσει τα χρήματα από άλλες πηγές, ενώ όλη η διαδικασία της επίσκεψης αναμένεται να γίνει μέσω του Τάγματος του Αγίου Ανδρέα των Αρχόντων, συμπεριλαμβανομένης και της φωτογραφικής κάλυψης από τον επίσημο φωτογράφο των Αρχόντων John Mindala, του οποίου οι φωτογραφίες θα χρησιμοποιούνται όπως έγινε και κατά την πρόσφατη επίσκεψη του Πατριάρχη στην Αγγλία.

Ως γνωστόν, υπάρχει απαγορευτικό χρήσης των φωτογραφιών της Αρχιεπισκοπής, παρά μόνο με γραπτή άδεια και εξηγήσεις για τη χρήση τους από το Τμήμα Επικοινωνιών της. Οι παραβάτες θα αντιμετωπίσουν νομικές συνέπειες.

Ο Πατριάρχης θα αναχωρήσει για την έδρα του, το Φανάρι της Κωνσταντινούπολης στις 24 Σεπτεμβρίου.
