As pressure mounted around the release of the Epstein files, Trump dismissed the surrounding conspiracy theories as a “hoax” and harshly criticized those pushing for transparency. He referred to them as “stupid Republicans,” “foolish,” “weaklings,” and even “bad people,” making it clear he no longer wants their support. In a Truth Social post, he went so far as to say some of his past supporters had fallen for the hoax “hook, line, and sinker.”

Does anyone realize the gravity of the situation we find ourselves in?
Trump is not the man we thought he was.
Snake oil.
No different than all those in power before him.
The soil was fertilized way before Trump.
Trump is the chosen one to squeeze the air out of the balloon.
Empire is declining.
In my opinion Trump used to be the real thing. He sold out. He is definitely now working for the neoconservatives.
He is one hundred percent making America complicit in the genocide in Gaza. His most recent anti Russian comments indicate some sort of power struggle behind the scenes which the neoconservatives won or that he is in fact being blackmailed.
I do think that Trump’s victory in 2016 in defiance of both parties, the media, etc was real. His reelection following two anssassinstion attempts and the failed coup attempt of early 2020 indicate his challenge to the deep state was the real thing.
I do not expect to see anything like him or MAGA again in my lifetime.
I will never vote again. There is no point! If a president is doing stupid things, at least my consciousness is clear. Is he better than Biden and Kamala? I can’t say “yes” at the moment. I think all three are terrible.
I had my name removed from the voting list at my town hall. I see voting as pointless since the will of the voters can be so easily ignored.
The Executive branch is generally weak if the Legislative branch doesn’t agree with its policies, and that includes approval of Supreme Court justices by the Senate (which affects the 3d branch of government). Classic checks & balances, but in recent decades, whenever the Legislative and Executive branches align (or collude), the results have not been the best for the voters, whether it is Democrats or Republicans in control. The Legislative branch’s “pork barrel” spending and “increased bureaucracy” bills since the 1980s have been the root cause of the deficit, inflation, and other negative impacts to everyone’s daily lives. And in an ironic twist for those who follow these things, even “bills to REDUCE bureaucracy” sometimes have underlying sinister and corrupt motives… the repeal of the Glass-Steagall Act in the 1990s mathematically (and maybe predictably) lead to a Banking Crisis about a decade later, because those institutions were suddenly allowed to engage in risky business that the Glass-Steagall Act had specifically prevented them from engaging in for over 60 years (with many people profiting along the way)… The results were “quantitative easing” Fed policies that ballooned the debt, but also an unprecedented “meddling” of government in a way that rewrote whatever was being taught in University Economics classes (who decided that Goldman Sachs lives, and Lehman Brothers (and others) die? Who decided to allow a high-ranking executive of Lehman to continue working in that industy, and actually become the CFO of Silicon Valley Bank, engaging in the same risky behaviors that caused that expensive fiasco recently?)…history repeats itself when you ignore it… and corruption breeds more corruption…similarly in politics.
The silver lining has been discussed over the years, but not successfully implemented. The voting public in principle should never reelect any member of the legislative branch, whether term limits are codified as law or not. This reduces the level of corruption, especially in the House where it is difficult to achieve larger magnitudes of corruption in the span of a 24 month term. And electing true “representatives of the people” vs. “party liners” wouldn’t hurt either… This was exactly the system in in ancient Athens…but of course, in ancient Athens, they also counted a public servant’s assets before and after public service…even one penny more at the end of their term, and they were accused of “profiting from their public service”…(sound familiar in our day and age?)…and the penalty for that ethical infraction? Confiscation of all their assets, including their sandals…
The obvious problem of course is, without money, it’s incredibly difficult to win any election, and the system is “rigged” as a “duopoly”, with two parties controlling the overwhelming majority of campaign donations…. Voters will not easily understand their alternative options in such a system, even though they may actually exist. We have a long way to go before achieving actual “Democracy”…
