New weapons systems guarantee power in the new era: Here is the future of the Armed Forces
They were presented to the public for the first time at the military parade in Thessaloniki.
Crowds of people in Thessaloniki , as well as millions of spectators around the world, had the opportunity to see new weapons systems of the Armed Forces which make up the ” Shield of Achilles ” and were presented for the first time at the military parade to celebrate the national anniversary of October 28th .
Within the framework of the Department of Innovation and New Weapon Systems , an initiative that is part of the Ministry of Defense ‘s “Agenda 2030” and the new Deterrence Doctrine, these systems were revealed to the public.
The “Achilles Shield” is a comprehensive protection dome with multiple levels of defense, where cutting-edge technology meets military operational experience.

The TOMA, TOMP armored vehicles brought all kinds of innovations, either low-cost or more sophisticated, to enhance the combat capabilities of the Land Army: A metal mesh above the turret of the Leopard 2A4 tanks. The so-called “cages” or cope cages, which solved and still solve to a certain extent the problem of the first attack by cheap FPV drones with or without optical fiber for guidance.

Drone Orbiter 3: They operate together with the other elements of the Spike NLOS missile system to survey from the air, target and perform target designation with laser systems, while the accompanying UAVs also transmit a high-definition image stream to the units day and night.

The system’s flight autonomy makes it capable of surveillance at a depth of 200 km and for a long period of time. It has been developed by the Center for Research, Technological Development and Innovation of the Armed Forces. It is a combination of an operational high-speed vessel of the Greek Special Forces and an autonomous navigation system with the ability to detect and avoid obstacles. It is a product of cooperation between the Naval Academy, the School of Electrical Engineering of the National Technical University of Athens and companies in the private sector of our country. It has the ability to land and take off vertically so that it can operate both from land and from warships. The maximum flight altitude is close to 5,000 meters while its autonomy reaches 2 hours.
