EDITOR’S NOTE (Nick Stamatakis). The video features a discussion on the Greek program Ideochoros between host Dimitris Liatsos and journalist–author Giorgos Harvalias, focusing on what they describe as a growing war-driven mindset among European leaderships, with Germany portrayed as the main driving force. They argue that Berlin is orchestrating an aggressive anti-Russian narrative, claiming that Russia is on the verge of attacking Europe, a narrative they consider exaggerated and deliberately alarmist. According to the discussion, this climate serves to justify Europe’s rearmament agenda (“ReArm Europe”), from which German arms industries are expected to reap significant financial benefits. The speakers also criticize efforts, again attributed primarily to Germany, to legitimize the seizure of approximately €280 billion in frozen Russian assets held in European banks.
The conversation further claims that this hostile posture toward Russia goes beyond mere Russophobia and amounts to systematic antagonism aimed at provoking Moscow into an asymmetric response, potentially even a tactical nuclear move, which could then be used to demonize Russia internationally. Harvalias argues that despite his transactional style, Donald Trump understands that Europe does not face an imminent Russian threat, unlike European leaders who, in his view, impose unrealistic demands on a militarily advancing Russia. The discussion also touches on internal EU divisions, resistance from certain countries, concerns about Germany’s historical legacy, and the risks for countries like Greece in maintaining a confrontational stance toward Russia, warning that continued provocation could ultimately harm European stability and national interests.

Due to Germany’s history of war and brutal occupation, with Greece being one of its victims, Greeks fear German militarism more than Russia’s aggression. Russia has no history of invading Greece, even helping bring about Greece’s independence, at a time when Great Britain was ready to settle for partial independence for Greece, with the Ottoman Sultan being Greece’s sovereign.
After the communist revolution, Russia did harm Greece and the Greeks, first by allying with Kemal Attaturk and provding arms in his quest to oust the Greeks from Asia minor and later by expelling most Greeks residing in Eujropean Russia, who numbered into hundreds of thousands, to Tashkent and other Muslim republics.
Currently, at Trump’s urging, Germany is reluctantly re-arming. German people have no connection to Nazism, so more conquests and occupations are not a possibility. Nazism is not in their DNA. It was offered as a solution to Germany’s economic devastation after her defeat at World War one. Nothing even remotely approaches the difficulties of that period.
Russia is the greatest danger to peace and Germany is a front line State that has the economic and technologic capability of resisting Russia’s incursions and aggression.
And Russia is being aggressive. Just this week, American intelligence released a report that emphasizes Russia’s plans to subdue all of Ukraine and parts of Europe. A strong Germany would serve as a barrier to Russian ambitions.
Bob, what kind of drink you had tonight? You are delusional… the only serious report released recently is the new NSS which classified Russia as not an enemy…
Nick. I dont drink or hallucinate or follow conspiracy theories. Here’s the story by Reuters.
WASHINGTON/PARIS, Dec 19 (Reuters) – U.S. intelligence reports continue to warn that Russian President Vladimir Putin has not abandoned his aims of capturing all of Ukraine and reclaiming parts of Europe that belonged to the former Soviet empire, six sources familiar with U.S. intelligence said, even as negotiators seek an end to the war that would leave Russia with far less territory.
The reports present a starkly different picture from that painted by U.S. President Donald Trump and his Ukraine peace negotiators, who have said Putin wants to end the conflict. The most recent of the reports dates from late September, according to one of the sources.
Then Reuters is once again proved to be a globalist parrot… No surprise there…
In Greek we have an expression that’s perfectly fitting the situation: “they (the globalists) are rubbing their backs on the shepherd’s (the Russian’s) cane”… At some point the shepherd will use his cane and will brake their back…
Reuters is a historical, dependable and neutral news site. I have no idea what makes it a “globalist parrot”, but if that’s supposed to be bad, I disagree. They just present the news. They don’t have an opinion, or take anyone’s side. And that’s refreshing considering the incessant bombardment of the talking heads, who aim to sell their naive followers their opinion, fanaticize them and make them come back for more. I’ll take Reuters before any of them
They have been consistently lying about the war in Ukraine – among all else.
