EDITOR’S NOTE (Nick Stamatakis): Alpha News obtained the following video, which has become a point of contention among Americans divided over whether Officer Ross was in self-defense. You can judge for yourselves here. We analyze the scene-by-scene below (with help from the Washington Post and Fox News). Personally, I do not think the video is conclusive on either side, although I personally cannot see a move against the officer using the car. You can make your own judgment. With some help from my law background, I can tell that there will be circumstances on both sides that would support conclusions in either direction. Nobody would disagree that this was a tragedy.
1. Good speaks to Ross
2. Good’s wife confronts Ross
Good’s wife, Rebecca Good, confronts Ross as he walks behind the SUV. “We don’t change our plates every morning,” she says, an apparent reference to criticism that ICE agents have swapped license plates on agency vehicles amid immigration sweeps. “Want to come at us? I say go get yourself some lunch, big boy,” she says.
4. Good looks toward Ross
Ross crosses in front of the vehicle as it moves in reverse. The camera briefly captures Renee Good, who had been talking with the agents at her side window, turning her gaze to look ahead through the windshield. She then looks down as she shifts the vehicle into drive. She looks up again as she turns the steering wheel to the right, away from Ross.
5. An insult after the shooting
As the vehicle moves forward, Ross is standing near the front driver’s side corner of the vehicle. Someone yells, “Whoa.” Ross’s camera pans skyward but does not fall to the ground. One shot can be heard, then two more can be heard in rapid succession. Ross appears to refocus his camera on the SUV almost immediately, before it crashes nearby.A male voice — it is not clear whose — can be heard uttering two expletives: “Fucking bitch.”

BACKGROUND INFORMATION ON RENEE GOOD
Some information appeared on Social Media that Renee Good’s lesbian girlfriend was arrested for putting cigarettes out on the kids and charged with domestic abuse. Others claimed that Renee lost custody of her two children. We proceeded to a deep search on these claims on several AI platforms. They cannot be verified. Here is the response to our searches: “The claim that Renee Nicole Good’s partner (identified in some reports as Rebecca Good) was arrested for child abuse involving cigarette burns appears to be false or unsubstantiated. Extensive searches of news articles, public records, and social media turned up no evidence, arrests, or reports supporting this allegation in connection to her or her family. The rumor seems to stem solely from a viral X post which provided no proof or references,” it responded.
Some controversial and unverified reports have suggested she was part of an activist group (e.g., Minnesota ICE Watch) that claimed to teach members to resist federal agents. These reports are not (at least not yet) corroborated by independent or mainstream news outlets and should be treated with caution.

Great analysis Nick. This is what we all need. Lay out the facts and let us decide, according to one’s conscience. We might not agree on all points, but we do agree that this is a tragedy, that has severe consequences for Good’s family and also for Jonathan Ross’s family.
After all, I’m sure that Ross did not go out his door that morning, intending to shoot to kill anyone. Who wants to live with that. I do feel for law enforcement and do not see them as a monolithic block of jack booted Nazis, as some liberals might. Their job is not the easiest. They have to make decision in a split second, that affect their own, or others’ lives.
And I’m sure that Nicole Good also didnt wake up that morning, wanting to end her life in such tragic circumstances.
Having said that, the burden lies on law enforcement. They carry the gun, given to them by a society that expects them to use it as a last possible resource. They have the training, we pay their salary, they chose that profession, with all its responsibilities, no one forced them to be ICE agents. So, at the very few times that a life iis taken, they should be held responsible. Maybe Ross had a bad day. Not an excuse. Maybe he was affected by a prior incident and injury, in the line of duty, as J.D. Vance said. Not an excuse either. He should have gone on ;leave. It was Nicole Good that was the one who injured him the last time. Why should she pay for that with her life
Finally, many posts delve into her personal life. That is a phenomenon that characterizes people brainwashed by propaganda, or have some kind of sick obsession, with what women do in private. Not only Ross didn’t know what her sexual life was, but even if he did, it should not have made a difference.
As things stand until now, there is no doubt, that Ross, empowered by the tough talk by the president, egged on by extremist sites, that portray migrants as animals, which blinded him and he shot an innocent women who was not even a migrant. If this killing is excused or condoned, if a white American woman is killed, then, no one is safe. You or I could be next. That’s why he has to be held responsible. No one is judge, jury and executioner. That’s not how a society operates.
The Nation is not divided! A very small percentage made up of well funded and well organized, otherwise aimless, radicals looking for a cause (any cause from BLM, to antifa to trans rights, furries, to pick your amoral anti-American beef du jour) and are protesting for the sake of protesting so as to create the idea of a perceived rift in our nation. How many “poetess” divorced lesbian mothers are out there?
These professional disruptors travel from state to state under the guidance of various NGO’s and as supported by anti-government hyper-woke mayors, local prosecutors, the media and even local DEI Police Chiefs, to act lawlessly and with no threat of criminal sanction, to protest what? The arrest of known illegal immigrants who have already committed felonious acts in our communities. ICE’s aim is not to arrest our gardeners or dishwashers who have otherwise done no wrong! They are going after known State Felons, whose sanctuary State has released them on to our streets.
While once supporting real women’s rights, the Left (the Democrat Party) has now taken the extreme, by supporting those who merely identify as “women” over our biological sisters, mothers and daughters.
Currently the Left cares not for our hardworking immigrants, but promotes the burning of our Cities to protect the illegals that prey on and traffic young immigrant girls and who import crime and drugs in to our neighborhoods.
Don’t be fooled, this is not about immigration or women’s rights, this is a well organized politically and journalistically protected mob that wants to subplant our western democratic culture, with a radical theocracy, ironically joined with a radical chaotic amoral culture that is intended to line the pockets of the few, that will ultimately cannibalize itself, but only after they destroy all of Western Civilization.
BTW: Reagan’s functionally blanket amnesty was wrong then and now. It puts illegals ahead of the lawful and will be so abused by the Left of today, that 90+% of any applicant in Blue States will be given a voter id within 24 hours after applying. At best, those hard-working and good people, like many of our forefathers, should be given a clearly defined form of probationary status, where they must remain non-criminals, have a sponsor, so that we are not feeding or housing them. And with no voting rights while their submission for citizenship is put at the bottom of all other applicants.
Niko, you can’t put the toothpaste back in the tube.
A simple question to all: what do you think would happen if there was an even more radical way to sent back to their countries let’s say 40 million illegals at once? Don’t waste your time – allow me to answer it for you: economic collapse. Millions of small businesses would shut down esp. in agriculture and in caregiving (not to mention restaurants). Prices would shoot up almost instantly, which means inflation. And in the end the federal government would be forced to apply a rational form of immigration. Something that will eventually happen now, after God knows how many more people suffer. Applying uncontrolled and unchecked power is never the right way…
We all consider Ashli Babbit a victim – including Trump with numerous statements. But suddenly we cannot put ourselves in Renee Good’s position? In both cases we have very sharp politicization – and this determines much of the outcome
Kalamaras.
You suffer from delusion. None of what you’re saying, or implying that are the product of the “left” have anything to do with this killing. Not even illegal migration. The woman was an American citizen. It was wrong that she lost her life. Her sexual preferances are none of your business. It has nothing to do with supporting trans women’s rights and nothing to do with trafficking women. Nothing to do with poetess lesbians either.
Was the victim not a “real woman”? Was the victim trafficked? Was the victim an illegal alien? The only question here is if she intended to hurt the agent. And from what we see so far, she wasn’t.
Excellent points Demetrius.
This despicable hateful woman was armed with a deadly weapon: Her CAR! Out to kill the officer but little Ashley Babbit was unarmed!
Sir G, you are entitled to your interpretation of the video and others are entitled to theirs. This is why the opinions diverge and there is no agreement whether he has the right of self defense. However, two days ago I posted the DHS rules regarding moving vehicles and it is certain that officer Ross violated these.
You also have to understand that most of us – former Trump supporters – are totally disillusioned by his disgusting support of pro-Israel billionaires whose current concern is how to delimit American human rights in order to keep brainwashing Americans to support the genocidal Netanyahu regime.
Let’s face it: Trump is in the bag of the oligarchs and AIPAC and he broke all his pre-election promises.
Already most of the concervative right has been uniting with some of the Left in an effort to stop the support to Israel and maintain our American civil liberties- and particularly freedom of speech.
I Stand By ICE but nonetheless this is a tragic story. Majority of us would obey law enforcement but she was radicalized. And wasn’t her wife yelling drive baby drive?
If only Renee Good obeyed the Ice Agent who repeatedly kept ordering her out of car. In video she was turning vehicle toward officer & you hear him yell in pain. So sad.
I tend to agree with you.About ten years ago, I was driving past a mosque. It was Ramadan and a cop was on hand, directing traffic coming out of the mosque parking lot. Right around the mosque, the street widened into a second lane. I was attempting to head right into that second lane. The mosque was on the left side and apparently the cop thought I was going to hit him. My opinion is that he was ticked off at being there and sought to vent his anger on a Christian priest. I complied with his order to stop and was ticketed.
I had to take time off from work( I was a non-monastic widower at the time). I also had to hire a lawyer for $500. I don’t remember what the court costs were, but I was able to any serious trouble. It could have been worse; nobody was hurt, I chose to comply. The cop was doing his job.
I instructed my sons to always cooperate; if you do nothing wrong, chances are you’ll have nothing to worry about. Not to say there aren’t corrupt cops.
Another thing and I have to vent. My father came here from Tsarist Russia. He never went back because of the revolution. He at first sympathized with the Communists, but never joined the party. He did remain a leftist; always voted Democrat. But he became a citizen legally. He never expected ballots or anything else to written in Russian or Ukrainian. In fact, he never taught us those languages.
Mind you, in those days, there was discrimination against Slavs, Greeks, Eastern and Southern Europeans in general. I remember reading that there was a saying, ” Hunkies make the best maids; they’re too stupid to steal!” A lot of our people joined the Masons to get ahead, though I’ve been told that a “Hunky ” could only go so far, even if he joined the lodge.
So forgive me if I get steamed up about newcomers who break our laws and everyone seems to kiss their arses to avoid being called bigoted.
Move to a country, respect it’s laws. Rant over.
Hieromonk
You are falling into the same trap that enabled prejudice against Slavs, Greeks and Jews in 1924, when they were banned from migrating. They were called “lazy, criminals, foreigners who will never become Americans.” But they all became Americans. They made fun of our kind when they couldn’t speak English, as you’re denigrating thew new immigrants because the ballot might be in Spanish. I bet you that they’ll become as American as anyone who’s ancestors came on the Mayflower.
And you’re proud that your parents never taught you Russian.
You are wrong. We, Greeks are proud of our history and language. We have much more reason to be proud than anyone else. And we want to keep our traditions, dances, music, and most of all our precious language, to the new generation. It might not work for most of our children, but its not because we are ashamed of our language. We are not. We are proud of it.
Bob, no. It isn’t prejudiced to say that you can’t enter the country illegally and if you do you can’t stay. Our ancestors came legally. If others despised them for their southern/eastern ways and language, that is human nature unfortunately. To shun the foreign and strange. But they immigrated and earned their place in society respectfully, and many did not demand or even hope for a handout. Illegal immigration is different and wrong. It says, “I don’t respect your laws, and I don’t respect you who live by those laws.” We don’t hate the illegals, but we are allowed to uphold our laws and not cede our spaces, taxes, and safety to them. We are allowed to say, no. Are all illegal immigrants immoral? No of course not. Should they all be kicked out en masse? Yes, but who are we kidding, it is not realistic. Can we deport the violent ones? You betcha. In fact, it is our duty to our children, our elders, our neighbors and friends to remove them. No one must suffer the deranged criminal to be sensitive to migrants because our betters say we should. That is masochism, and Christ said to be humble but did not promote masochism. The help we give to immigrants should be individual – from person to person, churches, etc. You can’t and shouldn’t ever force collective compassion. Forced anything is a terrible idea.
“”our ancestors came legally” JM says. You are very, very wrong. Have you heard of jumping ship? Have you heard of marriage of convenience? Before 1924, immigration was open for all, except Chinese and Japanese. As long as you didnt have Eye disease, they take you in. After 1924, quotas came into force. The quotas were based on how many of your countrymen came here before 1885. That allowed about 200 Greeks to enter legally per year. In thew 1930’s due to depression more Greeks left than came in. After WWII, some war refugees were allowed. Until 1964, is when immigration was liberalized. But It was still based on family reunification. If you had a brother or father here, you could come.
However, most families were estranged by then, due to the long absence of wars and forbidding Visa requirements. So, Greeks, working in ships would “jump” ship in huge numbers, when it reached American ports. I’ve heard from captains of ships that so many would abandon the ship that it couldn’t sail.
Greeks were considered gamblers, prone to patronize “white” prostitutes, since there were no Greek women here. They were considered criminals, unmeltable Ethnics. The time that the attitude of Americans changed is when the Greeks beat the Italians in 1940. Old timers were telling me that they would speak Greek on the street and people wouldn’t scream at them to “speak American”.
So, yea, what you’re saying is you’re repeating propaganda from FOX news. Illegals dont come here for the welfare payments. Because they’re not entitled to it. They come here to work and support their families. As all immigrants have done before them. No difference. They’ll become Americans. And they commit less crime than native born Americans.
Nick, who is conservative, wrote an opinion column on our dependence on illegals’ labor. I suggest you read it. You’ll learn something. Unless you’re ready to go to California and pick tomatoes, be grateful to the illegals who pick them for you. If they weren’t working in agriculture, it would cost you $10.00 a tomato.
No,I’m not proud..I’m ashamed. My father turned his back on his faith, his Tsar, and his homeland. He didn’t teach us Russian because he knew we’d find out that much of the stuff he said about the Tsar was a lie. He bought into the leftist propaganda of the times. Furthermore, our mother was of Scottish descent and couldn’t speak a word of Russian.
I wasn’t addressing you, sir, so you might save your commentary for another time.
Another thing; don’t hand me that crap about languages. Spanish is a historical language of our southwest for three or four centuries as French is in Quebec. We don’t need ballots in Arabic, Punjabi, Wolof, and two dozen other languages, including Slavic languages. Interesting how the political liberal wants dozens of languages, while the Orthodox liberal, and I’m looking at the liberal wing of the OCA, starts blubbering if they any languages other than English in the liturgy. In one Romanian church, besides English and Romanian, I used Greek, Albanian, and Church Slavonic. There were some pious Greeks present, because they wanted nothing to do with the multiple spoon crap, etc. There were Albanian people present, who didn’t have a local priest who spoke their language. And the Romanian clergy insisted on me doing the Creed in Slavonic, even though there was no “need ” for it. Afterwards, Romanians greeted me in Russian and in Serbian. A pious Greek lady who is very active in that parish, came to my monastic tonsure. She gifted me with an Icon of St. Nectarios which I took as a special blessing. It was the recent movie about him which inspired me to become a monk.
ICE officers, like all law enforcement officers, are taught or should be taught to handle mobs that are highly charged with emotions. They cannot curse at them. They cannot react to the crowds’ insults, cursing, giving them the finger, flag burning, or a great variety of offensive conduct that they should know is speech protected by the First Amendment.
Officers must be prepared for the psychological attacks at that moment and must practice a great deal of self-restraint in using deadly force.
The videos in this case are up to interpretation, but I fear we are all biased and will unwittingly watch them for the purpose of reinforcing the conclusion we have already reached!
Here is what I, a conservative American, see in the various angles.
Good backed up and turned the front wheels to the right before moving forward slowly. In one angle, from behind, I see the feet of the officer the two seconds before he shut her.
He is standing on the left side, well out of the way, as she moved the car forward right, close but clearly away from him. At that instant, Good was looking at him from her open window.
She smiled at the officer who was standing clearly at her left, and told him she is not mad at him as she slowly moved forward with the wheels turned right, away from the officer. Then the officer jumped and shot her three times, with intention to kill. Someone called her a bitch, evidence of the mental state of the officers.
In her car, Ms. Good had stuffed animals, children’s toys! To intimidate anyone who stands in their way in the future, the Trump administration shows us videos of Good’s blood and brain matter splattered on the stuffed animals.
J.D. Vance and company came to ICE’s defense and immediately shaped the narrative, painting Good as a radical left domestic terrorist.
There has been no investigation, but Leviathan can make no mistake: the Harvard-trained Vice President said that the officer has immunity! That is absolutely FALSE! No one has immunity in manslaughter cases! Certainly not the government! Certainly not without due process. Certainly not without a credible investigation. Certainly not with what we have seen with our own eyes.
The response from Trump and his administration should frighten all Americans, from conservatives like myself to liberals and progressives alike. At a minimum, they govern by dividing us. At worst, they are turning our country into a police state.
This morning we learn that members of Congress are now deprived of visitation rights in ICE detention facilities. Congress’s oversight powers are guaranteed by the Constitution, but Trump’s DOJ argues that if the facility has received funds from the Big Beautiful Bill it need not comply. Congressional oversight, my friends, may be a nuisance to the Leviathan, but it’s a way we protect our individual liberties and ensure our due process rights are protected.
I suggest that we should not follow the crackpots who masquerade as conservatives! There is nothing worse than giving the government unfettered discretion to kill us.
Great piece Leonidas. I admire you for seeing clearly, and calling out the crackpots, with Noem, Vance and Trump leading the way, despite the fact that you’re conservative. Being conservative, or liberal is not one lane. We still have a mind to discern the truth and see what’s right. What Leonida said is certainly right.
I am hopeful that, now that Trump has estranged many of his followers, beginning with the Epstein files, with Tucker making sense and many congress republicans calling out Trump’s over reach, maybe common sense will return to this land. No need for all of us to agree on everything. But we must base our arguments in truth and believe our own eyes.
No democracy is truly protected when officials preempt investigations, share graphic images to intimidate, or declare blanket immunity for officers before all the facts are known.
Law enforcement officers need to be trained to handle provocation calmly and to only use deadly force when it’s the last resort after careful assessment, to prevent imminent loss of life. That’s why having a full, transparent, and independent investigation is so vital. People need to see the evidence, understand the chain of command, and know what led to the shooting. If an officer acts unlawfully, they should be held accountable for their actions. If they act within the law, that should be explained clearly and openly.
We all should stand against efforts from both sides of the political spectrum to turn this into a partisan victory. Calling individuals ‘domestic terrorists” or exonerating officers without proper due process only weakens the rule of law.
Both conservatives and progressives must come together to demand facts, fairness, and accountability. Our government should be guided by law, not fear, misleading stories, or unchecked power.
You are very correct. Thank you for saying this.
