Some basic facts and numbers for the unexpected growth of Orthodoxy all over the globe… I would add one notable exception: GOARCH in the North East United States, under Elpidophoros… Naturally, the revival has to do with a return to the foundational principles of Christianity and NOT to novelties like LGBTQ ministries, women priestesses, disposable spoons, and disposable ethics…. Whats truly amazing, Glory to God, is that here in GOARCH in the Southern US the growth is happening DESPITE both the scandals from Elpidophoros and Bartholomew.
My parish (GOARCH) received between 50-60 converts over Pascha with more people currently inquiring/Catechumens.
This is not isolated. I travel quite a bit and am very familiar first hand with other GOA parishes here in Texas as well as in Georgia, Tennessee, Colorado and Florida who are experiencing the same number of converts.
This does not include the anecdotal stories I’ve heard coming out of the Midwest and Weat coast GOA parishes who are also experiencing this same growth. Though I cannot speak to them personally.
It seems the exception is the Northeast. But we must remember that GOARCH is more than just the Northeast.
The real growth in the GOA is happen in over the rest of the country and these are converts who are on fire for Orthodoxy.
Eventually this is going to spell the end for Elpidophoros.
It seems rather obvious that parishes that are”less Greeky” are the the ones that embrace non-Greeks and are growing. The NE part of the country tends to be far more Greeky than the rest of the country and thus does not attract converts .
JK – this is coffee-shop analysis and terminology… Try to figure something more helpful please… “Greeky” or not (whatever that means) the main issue here is this: the newcomers in Orthodoxy are demanding “traditionalism”, they are coming to pthe the foundations of Christianity. And Bartholomew and his minions are offering Novelism, Ecumenism/Globalism, “feminism” and LGBTQ ministries. They have lost the game – period.
