EDITOR’S NOTE (Nick Stamatakis). One of the biggest surprises – and honors – of my life was when, about nine years ago, I picked up the phone and realized that on the other side of the line was Fr. Georgios Metallinos calling me from Athens and wanting to know me personally… What an honor it was! At the time, I had a weekly column at the “Dimokratia” newspaper in Athens, where he was also a columnist, and we had a lot in common on political and religious issues… Among the most highly educated Hellenes of our time, with doctorates in Theology and Philosophy, a professor of Theology at the University of Athens (see his bio here), Fr. Metallinos was one of a kind… He left us just a couple of years later and, outspoken as he was, left behind him a big vacuum… God bless his memory!… Helleniscope will start publishing some of his articles and videos.
In the video below, Fr. Metallinos suggests that Orthodox Christianity and Freemasonry are fundamentally incompatible, criticizing both those who are Masons and those who support them for personal gain, such as acquiring power or status. He frames this as a moral and spiritual issue, emphasizing that true faith cannot coexist with such affiliations. The message concludes with a broader reflection on authentic Orthodoxy, stressing devotion to Christ above all else, and connects this idea to historical themes of sacrifice and patriotism, invoking the traditional Greek ideal of fighting “for faith and freedom.” Those who are Freemasons are neither Hellenes nor Orthodox!, he concludes…

Good job discovering these videos mr. Stamatakis. So, how is it possible to have our patriarch and our archbishop cooperating with the masons of AHEPA and permitting their lodges to meet and fundraise in our churches?
Let them answer this question… Why don’t you and everyone send an email to the Archdiocese asking this question?
It is obvious that the patriarch and the archbishop are masons themselves! The Patriarchate of Constantinople has condemned freemasonry since the 1700s! Letting Masonic lodges meet in the churches is obviously a treason! Additionally we can see that they are traitors with every single action of them: Greek Orthodox Christians are prosecuted and killed in Gaza and in Lebanon by Israelis and churches are being destroyed and they don’t say a word! So, what’s the point anymore of asking them questions politely? Now it’s time for a good shaving…
Thank you, Fr. Georgios Metallinos!
