OUR MAIN PHOTO: The Most Revd Dame Sarah Mullally, Archbishop of Canterbury, with His Beatitude Theophilos III, Greek Orthodox Patriarch of Jerusalem
By Markos (Helleniscope’s Religion Commentator)
It is unclear whether Patriarch Theophilos of Jerusalem understood that the current “head of the Anglican Church” would attend a conference of the “Heads of ‘Churches’ of Jerusalem” that he organized in June. It is most likely that the invitation for Anglican representation was addressed to Hosam Naoum, the local Anglican leader in Jerusalem, but somehow the “bishopess” of Canterbury (Sarah Mullally) decided to show up too… was it intentional, or a provocation? Was it accidental that this visit occurred in June, during the so-called “pride month”, only a few miles from “proud” historic “capital of carnal sin”, Sodom and Gomorrah? (for more on Sarah Mullally’s “theological views” on “pride” matters, see here: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sarah_Mullally )
And while much of the Orthodox media focused ONLY on Mullally’s visit and Patriarch Theophilos’ scandalizing and “smiley photo-op” with her, it is clear from Anglican media sources that there was a larger “Ecumenical gathering” of sorts underway. So it was not a “solo visit”, and it is also clear from these images published below that there were other biological female “clergy” in this “Ecu-(fe)-menist” gathering as well:
The irony of Mullally’s speech is that she referred to “1700 years of common Tradition since the Council of Nicea”, while simultaneously it is absolutely clear that she personifies a gross violation of this tradition herself: For seventeen hundred years, since the Council of Nicaea, Christians have confessed together their faith in the one, holy, catholic, and apostolic Church.
The million-dollar question: Why this level of Compromise by Patriarch Theophilos?
There is no reason to delve into the obvious theological, Canonical, and desecratory arguments concerning a “heretical bishopess” being received as a “spiritual leader” in an Orthodox Patriarchate…those arguments are well-established, and it is clear that Patriarch Theophilos has decided to “downgrade” his “Ecumenist activities” to a new level of “Ecu-(fe)-menist” activities. The million-dollar question is “Why”?
Even on Mt. Athos, a bastion of Tradition and Conservatism throughout the centuries, most Orthodox Christians don’t realize how the “Gifts of the Magi” reached the Monastery of St. Pavlos… Shortly after the Fall of Constantinople, “Maro”, the Christian step-mother of the Sultan, decided to deliver the Gifts of the Magi to Mt. Athos (for safe-keeping), but she was intent on SETTING FOOT ON THE HOLY MOUNTAIN AND DELIVERING THEM HERSELF, in blatant violation of the edict that no woman should set foot on Mt. Athos. Quite a bold, feminist move for those days…
So she did… However, as she was walking up the trail to the Monastery of St. Pavlos, the Theotokos showed up miraculously, blocked her path, informed her that the Theotokos was “Queen of this land” (not Maro), and told her to hand over the Gifts to the monks, turn around, get on the boat, and leave…(read the story below)
Now, it is clear that protecting the “Gifts of the Magi” into perpetuity was a very serious reason for the Mount Athos monks to “allow” a Compromise in the face of a provocative feminist of the Byzantine era…according to the monks on Mt. Athos (who explain the story today), she had threatened to give the Gifts elsewhere if they tried to block her from getting off the boat. So there was a clear “purpose” to this Compromise, and it was also clear that the monks did not “invite Maro to Mt. Athos”, but she invited herself.
In our modern example, God did not enact any Divine Intervention in Jerusalem to prevent the “feminist masquerading as a bishop” from crashing the “Ecumenist party” that Patriarch Theophilos organized. But we also don’t currently see a “clear reason for Theophilos to Compromise” in front of the cameras, as he did. Perhaps someone can explain what the long-term gain will be… Will the land that was recently “seized” by Israeli authorities be returned to the Patriarchate after Mullaly’s visit? Will a law be passed in Israel to criminally charge anyone who spits upon Orthodox clergy when they walk by? Will Protestants around the globe stop writing “blind checks” to a government that doesn’t adequately protect the Patriarchate and its assets throughout the years? What was the reason for Patriarch Theophilos to join the “Ecu-(fe)-menism” train that the Patriarchate of Constantinople (and its bishops/clergy) has already been “driving” for several years now? The faithful would like to understand…
Footnote: To this day, under modern Greek law, it is a crime for a female to set foot on Mt. Athos, and the penalty includes jail time. There was also a law on the books concerning “impersonating clergy” (by anyone), which includes dressing up like clergy, that also resulted in jail time. But we all know that laws are created by politicians “after-the-fact”, so in the years between “Maro” and “Mullaly”, there have definitely been many other “irreverent ones” that have tried to forcefully alter our Traditions…

Sad, sad, just sad!
Hierarchical meetings with the controversial “Archbishop” Mullaly raise many issues, ranging from the ordination of women into the clergy to Mullaly’s stand on same-sex marriages, her blessing of sodomy lifestyles, and even her fuzzy stand on abortion.
All these controversies should concern us before we even look at doctrinal and canonical differences between The Church and the apostasy she leads. Our clergy cannot ignore our Sacred Tradition and argue we do not have a monopoly of the Truth and that there are many paths to reach the same God we share.
The most urgent problem, as Marcos points out, is that there is a concerted effort here to dilute our Faith and to distort the teachings of our Church in order to satisfy a false unity that is based on the heretics’ agenda.
Mullaly knows what she is doing and so do we. Why do our church leaders go along with it?
These Leftist religious hags are so, so, embarrassing.
Please spare us.
The Patriarch of Jerusalem only recognizes Sarah Mullaly as being a bishop of non-Orthodox tradition and communion. So the fact that her ordination doesn’t abide by Orthodox tradition isn’t really a problem. Rather, it just makes it all the more apparent that she is outside of this tradition.
The Anglican communion is obviously in a downward spiral. Hopefully more awareness of Orthodox tradition among the Anglicans and Episcopalians will help them.
Both the Jerusalem Patriarchate and the Anglicans are persecuted by the Israeli government, having their property taken away by the Israeli courts. My guess is that Patriarch Theophilus is trying to raise awareness of this and find solidarity with anyone who might be of help and will listen. The more voices, the better.
Reply by Markos: Joseph,
Interesting perspective, but history clashes with it…
Wasn’t Palestine a British protectorate after WW1?
Wasn’t the main lobby for the creation of Israel in Great Britain as a result?
Isn’t the official state religion in Great Britain “Anglicanism”?
So you are claiming that the Anglicans that “gave them a homeland” are the same ones that the Israelis are persecuting today?
It makes more sense that the Israelis should be extremely grateful to the Anglicans for “making it happen” for them, instead of “Persecuting them”….
Is it more likely that the Uniate fingers are involved, to allow “more persecution against the Orthodox” (than others), so that “others” may “grab” whatever shrines they can from the Orthodox Patriarchate?
The persecution of Anglicans in the State of Israel was explained by Anglican Archbishop Hosam of Jerusalem in an interview by Tucker Carlson:

Roman Catholics are not exempt from this persecution either:

Well, the Israelis who according to AHEPA love us, not only stole the land of the Greek Orthodox Patriarchate of Jerusalem, but also froze the patriarchate’s bank accounts!
That’s the reason that Theophilos is traveling around the globe and asking the intervention of powerful men. He asked Trump, Putin, even Erdogan to intervene!
Maybe “somebody” asked him, in return for their intervention, to host this western ecumenist circus…
I agree that the Israelis are persecuting all Christian confessions. That doesn’t that the Patriarch should have welcomed this hag into his presence.
He should have shown her the door.
