EDITOR’S NOTE (Nick Stamatakis). Russian pranksters Vovan and Lexus have released footage of a video call with Greek National Security Adviser Thanos Dokos after convincing him they were speaking with senior Ukrainian officials. During the conversation, Dokos discussed regional security issues, Greece’s support for Ukraine, and the potential consequences of military escalation in the Eastern Mediterranean. The Greek government maintains that no classified information was disclosed, describing the incident as part of a broader pattern of deceptive influence operations targeting senior European officials.
The publication of the recording has sparked political controversy in Greece, with opposition figures, namely former PM Antonis Samaras, asking whether “he is fired yet” and questioning the government’s security protocols and calling for accountability over the apparent breach. The incident follows similar operations by Vovan and Lexus against senior officials across Europe, whose selectively edited recordings have frequently been used to generate political embarrassment and media attention.
