Will Rogers once said, “When you’re in a hole, stop digging.” Someone needs to get that message to the Archons, and pretty darn quick.
As you can see from their latest press release from the esteemed Archons, the “Beacon of Hope” is turning out to be a public relations nightmare. You can read it for yourself here, but you really need to read the comments instead. They are overwhelmingly negative.

We shouldn’t be surprised. Project Ukraine is not going well. We saw indications of this last week when John Ratcliffe, the Director of the CIA, made a public visit to Moscow. As to what he brought to the table, we can only speculate. I imagine he had his hat firmly in hand.
Think of it: if the Collective West held all the cards, Ratcliffe could have saved himself the trouble and simply called his Russian counterpart over a secure line from Langley. There’s an old Sicilian saying: “Don’t threaten unless you can take it.”
Now, personally, I believe Trump has been slow-walking the whole Ukrainian thing since he got into office. I stand by that. Don’t forget, he had J D Vance trash-talk Zelensky in February of 2025 and then showed Patriarch Bartholomew the door in June of that year. Both debacles took place in the Oval Office, which is the closest thing America has to a throne room. The optics (as they say) didn’t look good for Zelensky or the Phanar. And let’s face it, even if Trump were 100 percent on board, he’s got his hands full with Iran.
So what does this have to do with the “Beacon of Hope” dinner later this month? Quite a lot I’d say.
You see, the West is pulling out all the stops to try and keep Ukraine in the fight. The European Union itself has invested too much in this project. For one thing, its economy would collapse if Russia won this conflict. As for Ukraine itself, its only source of income is the war itself. (Zelensky, who is not a Slav, is more than willing to fight to the last Ukrainian if that’s what it takes.) The $300 billion of Russian assets frozen in foreign banks in 2022 has not been confiscated; it’s being used to uphold the European banking system. An end to this war would send that money back to Russia.
And then there’s BlackRock, which has bought tens of thousands of hectares in the eastern parts of Ukraine. (As for the Israelis, there are whispers that it wants Ukraine to be depopulated so Jewish settlements can be established should Israel cease to exist.)
The Beacon of Hope shindig is another part of this entire project. The word “soft power” comes to mind and at this point, that is all the Ecumenical Patriarchate has. But like so much else that Patriarch Bartholomew has touched, it too will fail.
I don’t know what the opposite of the Midas Touch is called, but whatever it is, he has it. As to why the Archons would go along with it, that’s their problem. They better figure it out, though, because the average Greek-American layman is not impressed by such endeavors. But don’t take my word for it; see for yourself if this is a hot topic at coffee hour at your local GOA parish. Better yet, see how many priests are talking this thing up from their pulpits.
I’d say, given the overwhelmingly negative comments found in the press release, not many.
As for the Archons’ public relations firm, I’d say they need to send someone to visit the Will Rogers Memorial here in Oklahoma. Claremore is only thirty-five miles from my home. I’d be glad to take you there; we could have some good barbecue afterward.
