The Church of Greece, if it is faced with a proposal for a joint celebration of Easter or any other holiday after the heterodox, must refuse even to discuss the matter.

by the blessed Fr. Epiphanios Theodoropoulos, Archimandrite

This discussion must be excluded at all costs because it overthrows the foundations of Orthodox Dogmatics and Ecclesiology itself. Either we believe that we are the One, Holy, Catholic, and Apostolic Church, or we don’t.

The Orthodox Church, believing that this alone is the Body of Christ, the pillar and foundation of Truth, the Fund of Grace, the Workshop of Salvation, is keenly interested in the return to it of the lost, but is completely indifferent to their internal affairs. issues while they remain in error.

The First Ecumenical Council wanted to establish a common celebration but for the Church’s members, not those outside it. He consulted neither with the Gnostics, nor with the Marcionites, nor with the Manichaeans, nor with the Montanists, nor with the Donatists, in order to find a basis for agreement on common celebrations. And when later the Martians, the Nestorians, the Monophysites, the Iconoclasts etc. were cut off from the Body of the Church. etc., the Church was never consulted to agree with them to establish a joint celebration of either Easter or any other holiday.

The Church regulates its issues, taking into account exclusively and only the interests of its members and not the wishes of those outside it. If the celebrations of the heretics coincide with those of the Church, let them coincide. If they don’t match, don’t match. The Church does not discuss heretics on equal terms.

He is certainly chosen by them, but let him show them the way of returning. The setting up of “Ecumenical Symposiums” or other type of Conferences between the Orthodox and the panspermia of heretics and in them discussing the definition of common celebrations, however, both men and others (Orthodox and heretics) in their respective Doctrinal areas, this unknown and an unimaginable being in the history of the Church, an element of terrible religious syncretism and a tendency to establish the harmonious and undisturbed coexistence of truth and error, light and darkness, can only be interpreted as a “sign of the times”. 1. The ultimate test of belief in Jesus Christ is when one does not hesitate to have his neck cut for Christ as we have seen Christians willingly do in Iraq, Syria, Libya, Egypt Nigeria, Sudan where muslims persecute them. Lets respect them and support a common date for Easter Celebration!

    • It’s not as simple as it seems and it should not be done without approval from a panorthodox synod. If Bartholomew cannot reunite Orthodoxy he has no right at all to attempt uniting with the Catholics.

    • Let’s not. It’s a back door to full Communion with Rome, without Rome renouncing any of its heresies. Also unknown in the Greek Orthodox community is the Latin agenda to bring all the churches of the world into communion with itself *under* the Pope – as a former Catholic, this was all I ever heard about as the true objective of Rome’s ecumenical activities.
