The temple of Poseidon in Sounio “shines” even more. The emblematic monument that dominates the imposing cape of Souni, enchanting thousands of visitors from all over the world every year, now impresses for another reason: the new lighting that was inaugurated on Monday evening by Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis, in the presence of Culture Minister Linas Mendonis and distinguished guests, including the Speaker of the Parliament Konstantinos Tasoulas, the Deputy Minister of Culture Iason Fotilas, the President of the EOT Angela Gerekou, Evangelos Venizelos, the academician Manolis Korres, the President of the Onassis Antonis Papadimitriou Foundation and many others.

The event for the new lighting was framed by the greetings of the Prime Minister K. Mitsotakis, the Minister of Culture L. Mendonis and the president of METLEN Energy & Metals, Evangelos Mytilinaios, who undertook the study and implementation of the project. However, it was also flooded by the unique music of Stavros Xarhakos, who paid tribute to the cultural heritage of Greece, together with the leading singers Dimitris Bassis, Iro Saia and Zacharias Karounis, while members of the ERT contemporary music orchestra ‘walked’ musically under the guidance of the distinguished composer.

The lighting was overseen by the internationally acclaimed lighting designer Eleftheria Deco, a professor at the School of Fine Arts of the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki who has been awarded for her work both in the lighting of the Acropolis and as the person responsible for the lighting in the opening ceremony of the Athens Olympic Games in 2004.

“This is an intervention that was imperative, as the new lighting upgrades the monument, also shielding its integrity, because it highlights its unique geometry, the enclosure itself, its rocky relief environment, while the parallel works at the entry and exit points , will allow everyone safer access,” the prime minister said in his speech.”So from now on we will be able to admire the greatness of the space from every corner, whether we face it from the sea or from the land, in a project edited by Eleftheria Deco and her team with the same sensitivity that we saw in the similar intervention that he did on the Acropolis Rock with the kind sponsorship of the Onassis Foundation and with the same respect for the environment from light pollution during the night. and the conditions for it to be part of modern life with events like today’s for example… Because the bet of civilization is not only the preservation of the heritage of the past, but also its participation in shaping the present and the future”, he stressed among others K. Mitsotakis.

The modern lighting with respect to the value and beauty of the monument reveals new dimensions of its architecture that will surely impress every visitor. The unique image that we will see will travel to every corner of the earth today online, reminding us that beauty, beauty has its roots here in Greece”, stressed Mr. Mytilineos in his speech.

The old lighting of the temple, installed in 2004 by the Ministry of Culture in the context of the Athens Olympic Games, offered a new visual experience, strengthening Sounio as an international destination for thousands of visitors. Twenty years later, however, the antiquated system had suffered the wear and tear of time, resulting in deterioration of the lighting, which necessitated the installation of a modern lighting system.

The new lighting of the Souni temple highlights in a unique way the archaeological and architectural importance of the monument, giving it new dimensions. Special care was taken to ensure that the visual experience of visitors to the archaeological site during the day would not be disturbed. All the elements of the installation and the lighting fixtures were placed in such a way that they do not obstruct the navigation and do not cause visual disturbance to the visitors. The positions of the lighting, as well as the routes of the wiring and electrical installations, were carefully planned and placed in appropriate places to ensure the smooth operation of the space.

The temple of Poseidon was built from local marble from Agrileza on the ruins of an archaic temple made of porolith, around 444 – 440 BC. The entrance to the fortress of the cape of Souni was made through the gate accessible from the port, in the northwestern part of the wall. The highest point of the fortress is occupied by the Poseidon mosque, which is defined by a built enclosure.

The lighting study for highlighting the sanctuary is carried out in two phases. The first phase includes the Poseidon mosque, which is defined by a built enclosure, and includes the temple in its southern part and on the northwest side of the mosque the large and the smaller portico. The second phase includes the walls of the fortress that extend on the north and east sides, as well as the remains of the settlement, with the main characteristic being the main street that goes up from west to east, and the new house.

Εγκαινιάστηκε το βράδυ της Δευτέρας με τις εικόνες να ταξιδεύουν σε όλο τον κόσμο

Ο ναός του Ποσειδώνα στο Σούνιο “ λάμπει” ακόμα περισσότερο. Το εμβληματικό μνημείο που δεσπόζει στο επιβλητικό ακρωτήριο του Σουνίου, μαγεύοντας κάθε χρόνο χιλιάδες επισκέπτες από όλο τον κόσμο, εντυπωσιάζει πλέον και για έναν ακόμα λόγο: τον νέο φωτισμό που εγκαινίασε το βράδυ της δευτέρας ο πρωθυπουργός Κυριάκος Μητσοτάκης, παρουσία της υπουργού Πολιτισμού Λίνας Μενδώνη και διακεκριμένων καλεσμένων, μεταξύ των οποίων ο πρόεδρος της Βουλής Κωνσταντίνος Τασούλας, ο υφυπουργός Πολιτισμού Ιάσων Φωτήλας, η πρόεδρος του ΕΟΤ Άντζελα Γκερέκου, ο Ευάγγελος Βενιζέλος, ο ακαδημαϊκός Μανόλης Κορρές, ο πρόεδρος του Ιδρύματος Ωνάση Αντώνης Παπαδημητρίου και πολλοί άλλοι.

Η εκδήλωση για τον νέο φωτισμό πλαισιώθηκε από τους χαιρετισμούς του πρωθυπουργού Κ. Μητσοτάκη, της υπουργού Πολιτισμού Λ. Μενδώνη και του προέδρου της METLEN Energy & Metals, Ευάγγελου Μυτιληναίου, που ανέλαβε τη μελέτη και την υλοποίηση του έργου. Πλημμύρισε, όμως, και από τις μοναδικές μουσικές του Σταύρου Ξαρχάκου, που απέδωσε φόρο τιμής στην πολιτιστική κληρονομιά της Ελλάδας, μαζί με τους κορυφαίους τραγουδιστές Δημήτρη Μπάση, Ηρώ Σαΐα και Ζαχαρία Καρούνη, ενώ μέλη της ορχήστρας σύγχρονης μουσικής της ΕΡΤ ‘πορεύτηκαν’ μουσικά υπό την καθοδήγηση του διακεκριμένου συνθέτη.

Την επιμέλεια του φωτισμού ανέλαβε η διεθνώς καταξιωμένη σχεδιάστρια φωτισμού Ελευθερία Ντεκώ, καθηγήτρια στην Σχολή Καλών Τεχνών του Αριστοτελείου Πανεπιστημίου Θεσσαλονίκης που έχει βραβευθεί για το έργο της τόσο στον φωτισμό της Ακρόπολης όσο και ως υπεύθυνη για τον φωτισμό στην τελετή έναρξης των Ολυμπιακών Αγώνων της Αθήνας το 2004.

“Πρόκειται για μια παρέμβαση που ήταν επιβεβλημένη, καθώς ο νέος φωτισμός αναβαθμίζει το μνημείο, θωρακίζοντας και την ακεραιότητά του, γιατί αναδεικνύει τη μοναδική γεωμετρία του, τον ίδιο τον περίβολο, το βραχώδες ανάγλυφο περιβάλλον του, ενώ τα παράλληλα έργα στα σημεία εισόδου και εξόδου, θα επιτρέπουν σε όλους την ασφαλέστερη πρόσβαση”, δήλωσε ο πρωθυπουργός στην ομιλία του. “Στο εξής λοιπόν θα μπορούμε να θαυμάζουμε το μεγαλείο του χώρου από κάθε γωνιά, είτε τον αντικρίζουμε από τη θάλασσα είτε από τη στεριά, σ ένα έργο το οποίο επιμελήθηκε η Ελευθερία Ντεκώ και η ομάδα της με την ίδια ευαισθησία που είδαμε στην ανάλογη παρέμβαση που έκανε στον Βράχο της Ακρόπολης με την ευγενική χορηγία του Ιδρύματος Ωνάση και με τον ίδιο σεβασμό στο περιβάλλον από τη φωτορύπανση στη διάρκεια της νύχτας. Τολμώ να πω ότι έτσι ο ναός του Ποσειδώνα αποκτά την εμβέλεια που θα είχαν οραματιστεί και οι πρόγονοί μας, ταυτόχρονα ωστόσο και τις συνθήκες για να εντάσσεται πια στη σύγχρονη ζωή με εκδηλώσεις όπως η σημερινή για παράδειγμα… Γιατί το στοίχημα του πολιτισμού δεν είναι μόνο η διατήρηση της κληρονομιάς του παρελθόντος, αλλά και η συμμετοχή της στη διαμόρφωση του παρόντος και του μέλλοντος», τόνισε μεταξύ άλλων ο Κ. Μητσοτάκης.

«Η σημερινή μέρα παρουσιάζει με τον καλύτερο δυνατό τρόπο τη δύναμη της ανθρώπινης δημιουργίας. Ο σύγχρονος φωτισμός με σεβασμό στην αξία και ομορφιά του μνημείου αποκαλύπτει νέες διαστάσεις της αρχιτεκτονικής του που σίγουρα θα εντυπωσιάσουν κάθε επισκέπτη. Η μοναδική εικόνα που θα δούμε θα ταξιδέψει σε κάθε γωνιά της γης σήμερα online, υπενθυμίζοντας ότι η ομορφιά, το κάλλος έχει τις ρίζες του εδώ στην Ελλάδα», τόνισε στην ομιλία του ο κ. Μυτιληναίος.

Ο παλιός φωτισμός του ναού, που εγκαταστάθηκε το 2004 από το Υπουργείο Πολιτισμού στο πλαίσιο των Ολυμπιακών Αγώνων της Αθήνας, πρόσφερε μια νέα οπτική εμπειρία, ενισχύοντας το Σούνιο ως διεθνή προορισμό για χιλιάδες επισκέπτες. Είκοσι χρόνια μετά, ωστόσο, το πεπαλαιωμένο σύστημα είχε υποστεί τη φθορά του χρόνου, με αποτέλεσμα την αλλοίωση του φωτισμού, γεγονός που επέβαλε την εγκατάσταση ενός σύγχρονου φωτιστικού συστήματος.

Ο νέος φωτισμός του ναού του Σουνίου αναδεικνύει με μοναδικό τρόπο την αρχαιολογική και αρχιτεκτονική σημασία του μνημείου, προσδίδοντάς του νέες διαστάσεις. Ιδιαίτερη προσοχή δόθηκε στο να εξασφαλιστεί ότι δεν θα διαταραχθεί η οπτική εμπειρία των επισκεπτών στον αρχαιολογικό χώρο, στη διάρκεια της ημέρας. Όλα τα στοιχεία της εγκατάστασης και τα φωτιστικά σώματα τοποθετήθηκαν με τέτοιον τρόπο, ώστε να μην εμποδίζουν την περιήγηση και να μην προκαλούν οπτική όχληση στους επισκέπτες. Οι θέσεις των φωτιστικών, καθώς και οι διαδρομές των καλωδιώσεων και των ηλεκτρικών εγκαταστάσεων, σχεδιάστηκαν και τοποθετήθηκαν με προσοχή σε κατάλληλα σημεία, ώστε να διασφαλιστεί η απρόσκοπτη λειτουργία του χώρου.

Ο ναός του Ποσειδώνα οικοδομήθηκε από τοπικό μάρμαρο της Αγριλέζας πάνω στα ερείπια αρχαϊκού ναού από πωρόλιθο, γύρω στο 444 – 440 π.Χ. Η είσοδος στο φρούριο του ακρωτηρίου του Σουνίου γινόταν από την προσιτή, από το λιμάνι πύλη, στο βορειοδυτικό τμήμα του τείχους. Το υψηλότερο σημείο του φρουρίου καταλαμβάνει το τέμενος του Ποσειδώνος, το οποίο ορίζεται με κτιστό περίβολο.

Η μελέτη φωτισμού ανάδειξης του ιερού εκπονείται σε δύο φάσεις. Η α’ φάση περιλαμβάνει το τέμενος του Ποσειδώνα, το οποίο ορίζεται με κτιστό περίβολο, και περιλαμβάνει τον ναό στο νότιο τμήμα του και στη βορειοδυτική πλευρά του τεμένους τη μεγάλη και τη μικρότερη στοά. Η β’ φάση περιλαμβάνει τα τείχη του φρουρίου που εκτείνονται στη βόρεια και ανατολική πλευρά, καθώς και τα λείψανα του οικισμού, με κύριο χαρακτηριστικό την κεντρική οδό που ανηφορίζει από δυτικά προς ανατολικά, και του νεώσοικου.
