In recent days, the possibility of Turkey joining the BRICS organization has been regularly discussed, with many analysts and experts trying to assess what the consequences of such a move by Ankara would be.

Within this context, a Turkish politician made interesting statements, statements which certainly bring ups and downs in the country’s political scene. You understand that Turkey’s entry into such a large organization as BRICS would cause a geopolitical earthquake, however it is worth focusing on the effect such a move would have on Turkey’s relations with the West.
So according to the vice-president of the Turkish party Homeland, Hakan Topkurul, there is a high possibility that Turkey’s accession to BRICS will mean the country’s withdrawal from the Western military alliance of NATO.
The Turkish politician explained that this move will be a historic event, which will create new opportunities for the state and will mark a key change in the course of Ankara’s foreign policy.Of course, Topkurul admitted that the West will not be happy at all with this news, since it will lose its influence in Turkey.
The representative of the Turkish party spoke to the Russian media RIA Novosti, where he stated that Turkey has been under the strong influence of Western countries and the NATO alliance for many years.In his opinion, if the country joins the BRICS, Ankara will strengthen its position on the international stage and will be freed from the pressure it receives from the United States and Europe.
“At the same time, we will manage to develop more balanced relations with other emerging international powers” emphasized the Turkish vice-president of the party, implying that this inclusion would also mark the end of “good relations” between Turkey and the West.
In essence, Topkurul repeated in an oblique way what many experts and analysts have been emphasizing for days: By becoming a member of the BRICS organization, Turkey “signs” its exit from the NATO alliance and, in general, the so-called “Western camp,” which is led by the United States.

Τις τελευταίες ημέρες συζητείται τακτικά η πιθανότητα ένταξη της Τουρκίας στον οργανισμό BRICS, με πολλούς αναλυτές και ειδικούς να προσπαθούν εκτιμήσουν ποιες θα ήταν οι συνέπειες μία τέτοιας κίνησης από την Άγκυρα.
Εντός αυτού του πλαισίου, ένας Τούρκος πολιτικός προέβη σε ενδιαφέρουσες δηλώσεις, δηλώσεις οι οποίες σίγουρα φέρνουν τα πάνω κάτω στην πολιτική σκηνή της χώρας. Καταλαβαίνετε πως η είσοδος της Τουρκίας σε μία τόσο μεγάλη οργάνωση όπως οι BRICS θα προκαλούσε γεωπολιτικό σεισμό, ωστόσο αξίζει να εστιάσουμε στην επίδραση που θα είχε μία τέτοια κίνηση στις σχέσεις της Τουρκίας με την Δύση.
Σύμφωνα λοιπόν με τον αντιπρόεδρο του τουρκικού κόμματος Πατρίδα (Homeland), Χακάν Τοπκουρούλ (Hakan Topkurul), υπάρχει μεγάλη πιθανότητα η ένταξη της Τουρκίας στους BRICS να σημάνει την αποχώρηση της χώρας από την δυτική στρατιωτική συμμαχία του ΝΑΤΟ.
Ο Τούρκος πολιτικός εξήγησε πως η κίνηση αυτή θα αποτελέσει ένα ιστορικό γεγονός, το οποίο θα δημιουργήσει νέες ευκαιρίες για το κράτος και θα σηματοδοτήσει μία καίρια αλλαγή στην πορεία της εξωτερικής πολιτικής της Άγκυρας. Βέβαια ο Τοπκουρούλ παραδέχτηκε πως η Δύση δεν θα είναι καθόλου χαρούμενη με αυτήν την είδηση, αφού θα χάσει την επιρροή της στην Τουρκία.
Ο εκπρόσωπος του τουρκικού κόμματος μίλησε στο ρωσικό μέσο ενημέρωσης RIA Novosti, όπου και ανέφερε πως η Τουρκία εδώ και πάρα πολλά χρόνια βρίσκεται υπό την ισχυρή επιρροή των δυτικών χωρών και της συμμαχίας του ΝΑΤΟ. Κατά την γνώμη του, εάν η χώρα ενταχθεί στους BRICS η Άγκυρα θα ενισχύσει την θέση της στην διεθνή σκηνή και θα απελευθερωθεί από την πίεση που δέχεται από τις Ηνωμένες Πολιτείες και την Ευρώπη.
«Παράλληλα, θα καταφέρουμε να αναπτύξουμε πιο ισορροπημένες σχέσεις με άλλες αναδυόμενες διεθνείς δυνάμεις» τόνισε ο Τούρκος αντιπρόεδρος του κόμματος, υπονοώντας πως η ένταξη αυτή θα σηματοδοτούσε και το τέλος των «καλών σχέσεων» Τουρκίας-Δύσης.
Επί της ουσίας ο Τοπκουρούλ επανέλαβε με πλάγιο τρόπο αυτό που τονίζουν εδώ και ημέρες πολλοί ειδικοί και αναλυτές, ότι δηλαδή η Τουρκία με το να γίνει μέλος της οργάνωσης BRICS «υπογράφει» την έξοδό της από την συμμαχία του ΝΑΤΟ και γενικά το λεγόμενο «δυτικό στρατόπεδο», το οποίο ηγούνται οι Ηνωμένες Πολιτείες.

Did you know Ukraine is not part of NATO? And Ukraine has not been left alone. All her weapons are from NATO, with America being the largest contributor.
Since the Korean War of 1950-1953, when a small number of Greeks (and Turks) were used as cannon fodder in US Cold War efforts, there has been no such use of Greeks for that purpose.
For over seventy years now the citizens of Greece have not been cannon fodder! True, our compatriots in Constantinople and in Cyprus have suffered greatly, and the Turkish overflights and threats are a real concern. All of that points to the need for Greece to stay in NATO while advocating about its concerns.

I say that Greece should stay in NATO.
There is no question that for now Greece should stay in NATO. However, there is a bigger question if NATO has really a reason to exist anymore. The propaganda that Russia wants to expand is pure fresh air – and anyone who knows anything about geopolitics should recognize it. Russia has more land than any other country on earth, the last thing it wants is land. But it certainly wants security from an aggressive NATO alliance that broke all its promises and it has or it plans to move missiles near its border in Romania or Poland or Finland.
NATO on the other side is very shaky after the continuous mistakes and failures in Ukraine and not sure whether it will survive this decade.
