EDITOR’S NOTE (Nick Stamatakis)… After having spent more than a year in his effort to pass the “same-sex marriage” bill through the Greek Parliament, Greek PM “Koulis” Mitsotakis is now distancing himself from the woke agenda and trying to drive all of us crazy by insisting that there is no woke agenda in Greece! What planet does he live on? By coincidence this effort (video and the news below) is happening just a few days after the landslide victory by President Trump that will have global effects. By another coincidence his sister Dora Bakoyianni, former foreign minister of Greece made the same exact statement at the same time (link here). Dora had already declared last summer that “our Ukraine policy has been a big mistake”… Question to Dora and Koulis: “Was this the same policy that “put Greece in the right side of history?” Hmmm… Don’t you think that after such a huge mistake a resignation is in order? By a third coincidence, the leader of “Foni Logikis” Aphroditi Latinopoulou, who pushes a patriotic agenda, sees her popularity rising by leaps and bounds..

Mitsotakis: There is no woke agenda in Greece like in the US, it is the tyranny of minorities
“We should not confuse the protection of fundamental human rights, which is a pillar of liberalism, with the direction that what we define as woke culture has taken in the US”… Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis appeared categorical that there is no woke agenda in Greece, unlike what is happening in the US.
At the same time, he stated that “if it were up to me, I would never want it to exist in Greece”.
“We should not confuse the protection of fundamental human rights, which is a pillar of liberalism, with the direction that what we define as woke culture has taken in the US, where dialogue has become so divisive that it has ceased to be a dialogue,” Mr. Mitsotakis in his discussion on Thursday night with the writer Pascal Bruckner at an event organized by iefimerida.
The Prime Minister also pointed out that in contrast to the “concept of the tyranny of the majority promoted by John Stuart Mill in order to ensure that in democracies there is a framework for the protection of minority rights”, now “we have the tyranny of minorities, which do not allow anyone to question their point of view. If you dare to express doubts about their opinion, they “baptize” you as a fascist, a supporter of patriarchy, or anything else imaginable”.
In this context, he recalled what one of his professors in the US, Harvey Mansfield, had said in 1991: “if you have the right to speak, you also have the obligation to listen”.
“I fear that the obligation to listen has been lost in the so-called woke culture in the US, where groups seek to promote discord, anger and conflict, where speech is used not so much to formulate arguments as to provoke the other. This, in my view, is something very different from traditional liberalism. It is essentially the definition of illiberalism, where a minority tries to impose itself on the majority,” concluded Kyriakos Mitsotakis.

WIKIPEDIA-The phrase “stay woke” began within the everyday language of some African Americans in the 1930s, because in African-American Vernacular English (AAVE) woke is instead of woken, the usual past participle form of wake.
After the shooting of Michael Brown in Ferguson, Missouri in 2014, the word was used by Black Lives Matter (BLM) activists who wanted to raise awareness about police shootings of African Americans in the US. It became an Internet meme and was increasingly utilised by individuals who were not African American to show that they supported BLM. Popular among millennials, the word spread worldwide and was added to the Oxford English Dictionary in 2017.
The word ended up being used as a catch-all term to describe left-wing ideologies, often centred on the identity politics of minority groups and informed by academic movements like critical race theory, which identified themselves as being devoted to social justice. This included BLM, anti-racism, and campaigns on women’s and LGBT issues. By 2020, parts of the political right in some Western countries were ironically using the word “woke” to describe left-wing movements and ideologies they disagreed with. In turn, some left-wing activists came to consider it an offensive term used to belittle those campaigning against discrimination.
I’ve never met anyone speaking of Blacks as African Americans unless they just moved from Jamaica or Ivory Coast Africa to America
