Steve Bannon: Trump’s election prevented the destruction of Greece!
Steve Bannon, the man responsible for Donald Trump’s rise to power and who was one of his closest associates, being the main visionary of the Make America Great Again (MAGA) movement, conducted a catapult interview about the Mitsotakis government and what is happening in the Mediterranean and Greek-American relations.
Bannon argues that Turkey’s geopolitical strategy is dangerous not only for Greece, but also for the entire Mediterranean region. He accuses Erdogan of his continued actions to assume a more hegemonic role, focusing on Turkey’s influence in the Arab world and relations with countries such as Saudi Arabia. He states that Turkey has managed to position itself at the center of geopolitical developments and that Greece is simply one of the main targets of the Turkish strategy.
Bannon also accuses Mitsotakis of an obsession with communications manipulation, but without having created the security strategy required to address the upcoming risks. One of his central concerns is that the Greek government is not taking advantage of relations with the US and the West as it should be, and that Greece risks finding itself isolated if the situation in Turkey escalates into conflict or even more dangerous developments, such as Turkey’s strengthening ties with Russia or China.
Bannon is particularly critical of the failure to take advantage of opportunities offered for closer cooperation with America, stating that Greece is in a strategically important position, but is not taking advantage of opportunities to strengthen its alliance with the US, which could provide Greece with a protective factor against Turkish challenges.
According to Bannon, Mitsotakis’ policy is partly responsible for the Greek state’s inability to prepare for the geopolitical challenges of the time, noting that if the situation in the region escalates, Greece may find itself in a difficult position, as it will not have the strategic preparedness required to cope.
In his interview, Steve Bannon did not fail to mention Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis, who, in his opinion, has failed to fully grasp the geopolitical threats facing Greece in the region. Despite repeated warnings about Turkey’s increasing aggression and strategic upgrading of its position, Bannon expresses concern that the Greek government has not reacted with the required dynamism.
One of the central points of Bannon’s analysis is his assessment of the US role in the region and his own perception of Donald Trump’s leadership. He believes that Trump’s presence in power was decisive in preventing greater disasters in the region. I normally don’t ascribe to Bannon’s thinking. However, in the article he is MOSTLY correct./ Not wholly. First of all, it is sort of amazing that Bannon is aware of Greek issues. Most Americans, even in position of power, are totally out of touch, unless they are specialists in Eastern Mediterranean. They hardly ever think of Greece, unless they thinking of vacations, or a natural disaster occurs. As for Cyprus, they haven’t the faintest idea where it is even located. Americans are not known for their geographic expertise. And of course, the shirt that he wore “free Konstantinople” is another indication of his interest. Musk himself has also ruminated on Greece’s demographic problem.
The part where he said that Greece would have been destroyed in 10 days, if Trump wasn’t elected is of course way out of bounds. Its probably intended to play up to Trump’s savior mentality.
The part where he says that Mitsotakis did not do enough to tie itself to America and the West is something that I agree with. Many of the Russophiles on here, including Nick and Markos in a post on Saturday, want Greece to play a loose game between Russia and the US as Turkey does. I have pointed out how illogical that is.
You can disagree all you want – but the fact is that this kind of policy was the result of Yalta (90% Western influence 10% Russian influence for Greece) served Greece well since 1950 and was followed faithfully by all Geek governments (right, center, left) until the incompetent idiot called “Koulis” Mitsotakis abandoned it after 2019. The results we can all see now.
Im sorry but when has the USA helped, if not prioritized Greece, since, oh i dobt know, 1974.

Yes. But define who’s America you consider: Eisenhower’s, Jimmuh Carter’s, Clinton’s or Reagan’s…?
And not lionizing or demonizing any of them, they stood at a Podium while the Military-Industrial Complex held the helm and ran the engine room.
The withdrawal of U.S. forces as the guarantee of peace in Europe will mean that EU leaders will have to look elsewhere, and in short notice. The clock is ticking too, because Trump has indicated that he wants peace in Ukraine by Easter, and he wants the EU to be the guarantors of this peace. This will likely mean the EU doing a deal with the devil, by giving EU accession to Turkiye. However, the EU is still not going to give Turkiye the full access to Schengen that it wants. The only other option, and it has been floated about for years, is to create a “second tier” Europe.
What is a “second tier” Europe with Turkiye’s accession to it? It’s none other than Greece being sold out to a neo-Ottoman empire.
Europe will/could find peace when/if it stops warring on itself, its own people.
Who is their Enemy? Who opened their own borders to “refugees”?
