Will there be a “deal” on Ukraine’s rare earth minerals? It’s on the table BUT no deal for the moment…

Zelensky’s body language says it all. He’s fidgeting, then crosses his arms in front of him like a frustrated little schoolboy. He’s probably thinking, when can I go into ‘exile’ and enjoy those nice houses and villas that were purchased around the world with U.S. taxpayer money on my behalf? What a joke.
The crossing of the arms, I am sure there will be a lot of body language experts that will comment on. To me, the way he is dressed, the crossing of the arms, the frustrated demeanor are very unpresidential. He should have made and effort and look professional. Sick to see him dressed the same all the time. What president dresses like this when visiting the oval office and crosses his arms? No class!
There is a big possibility that what we watched is staged and went according to a prearranged script! Let’s not forget that Zelensky was a professional actor and Trump was a TV entertainer. What’s the point for all this acting? It is obvious. Trump wants to justify why contrary to what he was promising, the war in Ukraine won’t stop and will go on!

None of this was surprising. Trump doesn’t want Zelensky involved in peace negotiations, and Putin doesn’t want him involved either. Trump had now made it clear, especially to Putin, that he is ready to negotiate peace without Ukraine’s involvement.
The really big result of this meeting, though, is that the EU is clearly going to have to take drastic measures to ensure both their own security and Ukraine’s. The EU actually does have some big cards it can play here. Perhaps we will see that the biggest card they have to play is to get Turkiye involved in the matter by giving them EU accession to a “second tier” Europe.
Joeseph…From what I saw, Zelensky made it clear that he himself didn’t want peace negotiations. He actually thought Trump and Vance were going to sit there and talk smack about Putin. In what universe is that a good negotiating tactic? It is pretty obvious, Zelensky is fine with more men dying to help keep his dream alive. I think it is possible his own people will turn on him very soon.
Zelensky in the Press interview with Trump did not understand the word REGRET. In his interview at Fox the same evening he did not understand the word SALVAGE!
At an event that the fate of Ukraine was going to be decided he was linguistically impaired!What a pity!
I think Ukraine will be better served if they send someone else to the oval office next time. A real politician that can calmly negotiate and doesn’t act like a child. I did not see any diplomacy in Zelenski. He is making things worse for the Ukrainian people.
Once Zelenski is gone, the second one on the list should be Patr. Barto. Even Greeks don’t support his actions, and more and more Greek bishops and monastics come in support to Metr. Onuphry.

The violence against UOC will have to stop! Violence can’t go on under a silent patriarch that does nothing but create schisms. He is presently at war with Ukraine, too. This is a second war in Ukraine after Patr. Barto invaded Ukraine’s territory and with his pen declared war on the canonical UOC!
Sandy, are you familiar with the political concept of NIMBY? That’s largely what’s happening in Ukraine. Local people are rising up and taking matters into their own hands, because they don’t want a church in their backyard with perceived ties to Russia.
It’s really just prejudice and hatred. It’s like after 9/11, when mosques were vandalized and attacked because of their perceived ties to terrorists. Remember the uproar in NYC about a small mosque being allowed near the World Trade Center site? Prejudice and hatred is a common pathological phenomenon wherever you go in the world. Sure, hate crimes can be prosecuted, but that itself won’t end the prejudice and hatred.

Joseph, everything I have heard and read indicates that Zelensky’s police are the ones closing the churches and arresting the priests. The “local” people are not behind these atrocities, the Zelensky regime is.

They are not “Local people”, they are paid hooligans, defrocked “priests and bishops”, and the corrupt government that are causing this, with the blessing of a patriarch that lost all credibility in the OC. This has nothing to do with Russia but with Barto’s ambitions to be “ecumenical” when he is in fact not ecumenical at all. The war is just an excuse because in the absence of the war none of this would be possible.
I don’t see how you can even compare 9/11 with this. UOC did not hurt anyone and it is persecuted because it is a canonical Church, just like the canonical Church was always persecuted. Metropolitan Onufry is the legitimate and the wanted leader of UOC. He is Ukrainian, not Russian. What are you even talking about and how can you even justify the persecution? He never hurt anyone, how can you compare this with 9/11? No one believes there is a similarity but you!
“The hate crimes can be prosecuted”, but they are not, because of the dictatorial leadership are also the prosecutors and they won’t prosecute themselves! But do not worry, the hate crimes will be persecuted by God. Those that are at war with UOC are at war with Christ and if they do not repent, they will answer for it. Christ will put an end to the “prejudice and hatred”, sooner or later. We will all answer for our actions. UOC with Metr. Onufry will get their churches back like the communists had to give them back and those persecuting Christ and the UOC will be punished. Saul who was persecuting Christ (the Christians) came to his senses and became Paul. So repentance is possible in a big way, for those that want it and it is very much rewarded. The patriarch can read that story in many languages and I am sure he knows about it if I, without a PhD, knows about it, right? This is my last post until after Lent. This kind of talk is time consuming and won’t lead to anything because you made up your mind that you and Barto and a few other confused people can destroy the UOC because a b and c. Also, earlier this week 3 churches in Bukovyna part of Ukraine in which UOC believers were praying inside for 7 days and 7 nights straight without leaving the churches, were “voluntary transferred” with falsified signatures and paperwork and votes from people that have nothing to do with those churches, some of which were OCU or UGCC members. These people are not orthodox, they are thieves that have no fear of God and serve a different master!
