In case you missed it, in her yesterday’s short address to the gathering at the White House, Kimberly Guilfoyle, the Ambassador nominee for Greece, crossed herself in the Orthodox way. Could someone provide an explanation for this? Or was it a publicity trick by Kimberly, an experienced manipulator of the cameras? You can judge for yourself at approximately 1’45” of this video.

My take on it: She’s doing “as the Romans do”
I believe she is aware that Orthodoxy is intertwined with Greece and Greek culture and being the diplomat to Greece, she’s signaling that she understands them and can be trusted.
That’s just my take.
You have to wonder if Elpi will be singing a more “conservative” tune given the current political zeitgeist in the U.S. If Guilfoyle is planning on riding Greece of “wokeism” Elpi must be shaking in his boots.
Well, as long as she’s been baptized recently, I have no problem with it. If not, it’s sacrilege bc it’s a photo op for her ego, political gain, etc., not faith-based and showing a genuine love for Jesus and our faith…instead it’s a mockery….
She should have worn navy and white not Turkish colors red and white! Make me the fashion police please!
And she crossed herself properly. Not the “violin” that most of Greeks do, instead of cross.
The Uniates also perform the sign of the cross in an Orthodox manner, but they pledge allegiance to the Vatican. From this perspective, it may well be the case that the Uniate-friendly Elpidophoros already knew ahead of time what she was going to do in front of the cameras…nothing would be surprising at this point.
If she is not yet Orthodox, may God guide her to Holy Orthodoxy! 🙏🏼☦️
I don’t think she did it for show. If she’s not Orthodox, I think she learned how to do it as a sign of honor and shared love for God.
