My Nice… (German) Washing Machine (EN-GR)

I understand the need for a publishing house to advertise its products and for a newspaper to capitalize on the event in terms of communication. However, the day before yesterday, my supposedly “journalistic interrogation” of Mrs. Merkel, inside the Athens Opera House packed with her (?) fans, resulted in a low-aesthetic impression-washing about her role in the 2015 crisis.

A washing machine that has been working with deafening noise for days now, falsifying the facts surrounding the infamous referendum on the euro and placing all the blame for the blatant blackmail against Greece on the late Schäuble, who, from where he is, is probably having difficulty answering.

Despite the best efforts, of course, things cannot be misinterpreted, embellished, or absolved of responsibility. During the Greek crisis, there were no German “philhellenes” or “anti-hellenes.” There were only Germans who thought German, in whose opinion our country should be punished exemplary , just as the “ungrateful” Greece of the 1940s was punished for not welcoming the German Nazis with rose petals.

The purge of the former chancellor, who, two years before the 2015 Greek crisis, confiscated, as part of another punishment, the money of unsuspecting Cypriot depositors, is so provocative that I am convinced that it will force other protagonists of those moments to speak out about her fundamental role. Wait and see…

The question, however, that arises concerns the role of domestic centers that seek to wash her clean, even though she did not help herself, even yesterday, to become more likable to the majority of Greeks. She refused to apologize for her actions and with the insensitivity of a thick-skinned person, she mocked her audience to their faces , expressing in a colonial style the question of how the poor Greeks managed to get by with the 60 euros a day that the bank ATMs gave out, after the suspension of the liquidity supply that was ordered under her blessings!

Nevertheless, Merkel was warmly applauded the day before yesterday by both Kathimerini subscribers and some politicians sitting in the front row of the room, bringing to mind some of their colleagues from the pre-occupation period, who were trying to convince Metaxas to capitulate to Berlin because… “the Germans are our friends.”

The attempt to unequivocally attribute responsibility for what happened in the summer of 2015 to the “fools” of SYRIZA and the “evil” Schäuble (who was certainly evil, but did not act alone) is organized and is being done with the government’s backing, precisely to shift the spotlight of publicity away from today’s shameful events.

But especially the idealization of Merkel’s role at the very scene of the… crime constitutes a kind of arrogance . Because Mrs. Merkel did not consciously destroy only Greece, the Cypriot banks, and the fragile economies of the European South. She destroyed Europe itself, with the famous ” Willkommen ” that opened the borders to the hordes of Afro-Asian Islamists, overturning within a few years the population composition of the large urban centers.

Mrs. Merkel had the audacity the day before yesterday to admit that the situation (which she herself created) was unbearable and she was forced to “gold-plating” Erdogan with European taxpayers’ money to put a stop to the flows. For this criminal “open door” policy, she is currently receiving severe criticism within Germany itself. But here she met with understanding. She moved the crowds with her… honesty.

Finally, it was striking that, during a 90-minute discussion, the director of the approved “Kathimerini” forgot – from what I understood – to raise the most crucial issue on the agenda of Greek-German relations: the wide-open chapter of war reparations and the occupation loan, for which there is a unanimous decision of the Greek Parliament.

It’s a shame, because if the former chancellor really had even a trace of positive feeling for Greece, as her late followers claim, she could, now freed from her political status, contribute with a “pass” to the restoration of historical justice. However, I suspect that this polite omission was intended to avoid upsetting the stomach of Kyriakos Mitsotakis , who had arranged to eat poached eggs with her the next morning…

Ένα πλυντήριο που δουλεύει με εκκωφαντικό θόρυβο μέρες τώρα, πλαστογραφώντας τα γεγονότα γύρω από το περιβόητο δημοψήφισμα για το ευρώ και ρίχνοντας όλο το βάρος για τον ωμό εκβιασμό εις βάρος της Ελλάδας στον μακαρίτη τον Σόιμπλε, ο οποίος, από εκεί που είναι, μάλλον δυσκολεύεται να απαντήσει.

Παρά τις φιλότιμες προσπάθειες, βέβαια, τα πράγματα δεν χωρούν ούτε παρερμηνείες ούτε εξωραϊσμούς ούτε απαλλαγή από ευθύνες. Την περίοδο της ελληνικής κρίσης δεν υπήρχαν Γερμανοί «φιλέλληνες» και «ανθέλληνες». Υπήρχαν μόνο Γερμανοί που σκέφτονταν γερμανικά, κατά την αντίληψη των οποίων η χώρα μας έπρεπε να τιμωρηθεί παραδειγματικά, όπως τιμωρήθηκε η «αχάριστη» Ελλάδα του ’40 επειδή δεν υποδέχτηκε τους Γερμανούς ναζί με ροδοπέταλα.

Η επιχείρηση εξαγνισμού της πρώην καγκελαρίου, που δύο χρόνια πριν από την ελληνική κρίση του 2015 δήμευσε -στο πλαίσιο μιας άλλης τιμωρίας- τα χρήματα ανυποψίαστων Κύπριων καταθετών, είναι τόσο προκλητική, ώστε έχω την πεποίθηση πως θα αναγκάσει άλλους πρωταγωνιστές εκείνων των στιγμών να μιλήσουν για τον πραγματικό ρόλο της. Περιμένετε και θα δείτε…

Το ερώτημα, όμως, που ανακύπτει αφορά περισσότερο τον ρόλο των εγχώριων κέντρων που επιδιώκουν να την ξεπλύνουν, παρότι η ίδια δεν βοήθησε ούτε χθες τον εαυτό της ώστε να καταστεί συμπαθέστερη στην πλειονότητα των Ελλήνων. Αρνήθηκε να ζητήσει συγγνώμη για τα πεπραγμένα της και με αναισθησία παχύδερμου ειρωνεύτηκε κατάμουτρα το ακροατήριό της, εκφράζοντας σε αποικιοκρατικό ύφος την απορία για το πώς οι ταλαίπωροι Έλληνες τα έβγαζαν πέρα με τα 60 ευρώ την ημέρα που έδιναν τα ΑΤΜ των τραπεζών, έπειτα από τη διακοπή της παροχής ρευστότητας που διατάχθηκε υπό τις ευλογίες της!

Παρ’ όλα αυτά, η Μέρκελ χειροκροτήθηκε θερμά προχθές και από τους συνδρομητές της «Καθημερινής» και από ορισμένους πολιτικούς που κάθονταν στην πρώτη γραμμή της αίθουσας, φέρνοντας στον νου κάποιους συναδέλφους τους, της προκατοχικής περιόδου, οι οποίοι προσπαθούσαν να πείσουν τον Μεταξά να συνθηκολογήσει με το Βερολίνο γιατί… «οι Γερμανοί είναι φίλοι μας».

H προσπάθεια μονοσήμαντης απόδοσης ευθυνών για όσα συνέβησαν το καλοκαίρι του 2015 στους «άφρονες» του ΣΥΡΙΖΑ και στον «κακό» Σόιμπλε (που ασφαλώς ήταν κακός, αλλά δεν δρούσε μόνος) είναι οργανωμένη και γίνεται με κυβερνητικές πλάτες, ακριβώς για να μετατοπιστούν οι προβολείς της δημοσιότητας από τα αίσχη τού σήμερα.

Ειδικά όμως η εξιδανίκευση του ρόλου της Μέρκελ στον ίδιο τον τόπο του… εγκλήματος αποτελεί ένα είδος ύβρεως. Γιατί η κυρία Μέρκελ δεν κατέστρεψε συνειδητά μόνο την Ελλάδα, τις κυπριακές τράπεζες και τις εύθραυστες οικονομίες του ευρωπαϊκού Νότου. Κατέστρεψε την ίδια την Ευρώπη, με το περίφημο «Willkommen» που άνοιξε τα σύνορα στις ορδές των Αφροασιατών ισλαμιστών, ανατρέποντας μέσα σε λίγα χρόνια την πληθυσμιακή σύσταση των μεγάλων αστικών κέντρων.

Η κυρία Μέρκελ είχε το θράσος προχθές να ομολογήσει ότι η κατάσταση (που η ίδια δημιούργησε) ήταν αφόρητη και αναγκάστηκε να «χρυσώσει» με χρήματα των Ευρωπαίων φορολογουμένων τον Ερντογάν για να βάλει φρένο στις ροές. Για αυτή την εγκληματική πολιτική της «ανοιχτών θυρών» δέχεται σήμερα σφοδρότατη κριτική μέσα στην ίδια τη Γερμανία. Αλλά εδώ συνάντησε κατανόηση. Συγκίνησε τα πλήθη με την… ειλικρίνειά της.

Τέλος, εντύπωση προκάλεσε το γεγονός ότι, στη διάρκεια μιας συζήτησης διάρκειας 90 λεπτών, ο διευθυντής της εγκρίτου «Καθημερινής» ξέχασε -εξ όσων αντελήφθην-να θέσει το πιο κρίσιμο θέμα στην ατζέντα των ελληνογερμανικών σχέσεων: το ορθάνοιχτο κεφάλαιο των πολεμικών αποζημιώσεων και του κατοχικού δανείου, για τη διεκδίκηση των οποίων υπάρχει ομόφωνη απόφαση της ελληνικής Βουλής.

Πολύ κρίμα, γιατί, αν πράγματι η πρώην καγκελάριος διέθετε έστω ίχνος θετικού αισθήματος για την Ελλάδα, όπως ισχυρίζονται οι όψιμοι οπαδοί της, θα μπορούσε, απελευθερωμένη πλέον από την πολιτική της ιδιότητα, να συμβάλει με μια «πάσα» στην αποκατάσταση της ιστορικής δικαιοσύνης. Υποψιάζομαι όμως ότι η ευγενική αυτή παράλειψη αποσκοπούσε στο να μη χαλάσει το στομάχι του Κυριάκου Μητσοτάκη, που είχε κανονίσει να φάει αβγά ποσέ την επομένη το πρωί μαζί της…
