It was a refreshing experience last Thursday evening at Stathakeion, where Parade Chairman Lou Katsos greeted us at the entrance dressed as a Tsolias, accompanied by one of the four Parade Co-Chairmen, George Meintassis, who wore the traditional attire of the islanders. The newly polished floor of the building — a generous donation from Lou — not only created an inviting atmosphere for a dance event but also marked a much-needed improvement to the facility itself.

From my part, I would like to highlight the following:
- For the first time in recent memory, the Parade Committee has successfully addressed all practical organizational matters — including permits, committees, and participating events — well in advance over the summer. This achievement allows ample time for further improvements and, most importantly, for celebration!
- The series of events will begin with the World Premiere of the film “Kapodistrias” by Giannis Smaragdis, taking place on November 29 at 6 p.m. at the Museum of the Moving Image in Astoria.
- We also witnessed a rare and uplifting spirit of unity within the Federation — a promising sign for the upcoming “unity elections,” planned to take place after the Parade, as emphasized by Lou Katsos.
