Maria Karystianou, a pediatrician who became a nationally recognized figure through her role representing families of the victims of the Tempi rail disaster and is now ready to start a new political movement in Greece to “punish corruption”, ignited a major political and social controversy in Greece following public comments she made on abortion during a televised interview on January 19.
Speaking on OPEN TV, Karystianou framed abortion as an issue that should not be treated as morally simple or beyond discussion. While acknowledging the legal status of abortion in Greece and affirming women’s autonomy, she argued that the issue carries ethical weight that society cannot ignore.
“As a pediatrician, I know that the embryo is a living human being,” she said, grounding her position explicitly in her medical background.
Karystianou described abortion as a matter that should be open to public consultation, stating:
“It is an issue that concerns society as a whole. Society should be able to discuss it and decide what it wants.”
At the same time, she emphasized that she respects a woman’s right to choose, repeatedly noting the difficulty of reconciling competing moral claims.
“Of course, a woman has the right to decide about her own body,” she said,
“But there is also the embryo, which is a life that has begun.”
Explaining her internal conflict, Karystianou stated that she feels “torn” between the rights of the woman and what she described as the moral status of the unborn child. Referring to biological development, she added:
“When there is a heartbeat, for me, this is life. I cannot ignore that.” Here is the interview (English subtitles):
Although she clarified that she was not explicitly calling for a change in the law, her suggestion that abortion should be subject to societal deliberation was widely interpreted as reopening a debate that has been legally settled in Greece since 1986.
The backlash was immediate. Government officials accused her of undermining a fundamental right. The government spokesperson stressed that “the body of a woman is not subject to social approval,” warning that such discussions risk reversing hard-won freedoms.
Opposition parties, including PASOK and SYRIZA, also reacted strongly, emphasizing that abortion rights are firmly established and not open to renegotiation. Several lawmakers argued that framing abortion as a matter for public consultation echoes rhetoric historically used by far-right or religiously conservative movements.
Media commentators and civil society groups echoed these concerns, arguing that even questioning settled rights rhetorically can normalize challenges to women’s bodily autonomy. Critics warned that moral framing by public figures — particularly medical professionals — carries significant social weight.
In response to the backlash, Karystianou attempted to clarify that she did not intend to single out abortion alone, but rather to encourage broader public discussion on ethically complex social issues. Nevertheless, her statements have already become one of the most polarizing flashpoints in Greece’s current public debate on ethics, rights, and the limits of democratic deliberation.

Greece has an existential demographic problem. And a culture of not using the pill, or other preventive devices. Abortion was always, even when Orthodoxy was more widely followed, the go-to birth control method.
As a man, I will not judge women’s choices. And I don’t think any man should pressure women on what they should do with their bodies. Even if, as Karystianou says that the embryo is human life. The man who is responsible for the woman’s pregnancy, should support her decision, as long as that decision is not based on frivolous reasons. And the man is just as responsible for her decision, even though she has the ultimate last word.
I abhor men that act better than thou, when they’re bringing down fire and condemnation on women’s choice. No man can feel the awsome resp[onsibility that a woman does, when she is pregnant.
Bob,
Re the “as a man” comment…
A self-respecting man (father in this case) doesn’t stop defending the right of his child to live, even if the woman bearing it has a different opinion…
The position of “supporting the woman in her decision” is a default support of murder when the decision is to abort.
As for Greek culture, there used to be a time in the past that pregnancy = marriage as the “honorable thing to do”, when the couple wasn’t married. That used to be Greek culture, up until very recently in history…the phenomenon of a statistical increase in families with less than 4 or 5 children is a post-1960s phenomenon, and also not a historically “Greek” tradition, either…Karystianou is 100% correct in saying that the ethics surrounding abortion are still up for public discussion…
I have asked you before, and you didn’t answer…if your mother had chosen to abort you, would you support her, knowing that you wouldn’t have enjoyed any of the life that you have currently enjoyed? How exactly is your life more important than the life of the unborn whose premature terminations you support?
Markos
I agree that a self respecting man should defend the right of his child to live. However, that should happen BEFORE he gets her pregnant. If there was no agreement before the sexual act, as to either the3 use of prophylactics, or the acceptance of the possibility of pregnancy, then, that man is not self respecting.
If the woman had agreed that she was ready to be a mom and then, changed her mind, due to frivolous reasons (such as wearing a bikini at the beach), then the man should attempt to persuade her to keep the baby, since she had agreed. Unless the baby’s viability was in doubt, or her own health would be compromised, she would be at fault. But he still can’t force her to not abort. Its not his body. But if I was than man, I would seriously consider finding another life partner..
I can’t see why two adults would not have taken care not to conceive unwillingly. Not nowadays, when sex education is available on the internet. Plus the woman’s cycle can be accessed by apps.
many Southern states have outlawed abortion. This is hypocritical and part of the culture wars of this country. If the State forbids abortion, then, the state should be responsible in feeding, educating and offer free health insurance to everyone under 18 years old. Plus outlaw guns, which kill more youths than any other cause.
Looking back to how things used to be in Greece, when marriages were forced on a man for looking at a girl, when a man would be killed for breaking off an engagement, or when marriages were forced and the couple lived miserably ever after is not guidance for the present or the future. Yes, families used to have 4-10 kids. And the fact that now they average less than 2 is not a “phenomenon” as you’re saying. Its part and parcel of modernity. China lost a million and a half people last year. All countries, except Muslim and African, have less than replacement birth rates. Its not only Greece. Even Russia, the object of fascination for many Christians, has low birth rate and Putin can’t increase it, no matter what he does.
Now, for your question Markos. It is silly and nonsensical. Because I wouldn’t have known life, with its sorrows and happiness, so, it wouldn’t have bothered me. And no, I never said my life is more important than anyone else’s. You’re putting words in my mouth.
Bob, as Orthodox, we care about earning votes in the Kingdom of God, not the kingdom of this world. Christianity is not about votes. The world voted out Christ Himself, so why speak about votes and compromise? I don’t think we can get to the Kingdom of God by being luke warm Christians and choose death over life by being so detached and killing His children, just to earn votes.
A man should support the woman and the baby, not support “her decision” to abort. As Christians we must have a culture of LIFE, including everlasting life which is Christ’s promise, not a culture of DEATH, by agreeing to take an innocent life and interrupting what GOD wanted that little person to become.
Sandy.
Where did I say anything about votes?
I agree that a man should,–in a perfect world– support the baby that he is responsible for. However, this is not a perfect world. What’s worse is that all the “super-Christians, who support total ban on abortion, do not support the State in educating, feeding, providing tax funded child care and providing free health care to the child, plus banning the easy obtaining of guns, which kill more children than any other cause.
Why, because it sets their conscience at ease, speaking against abortion, while the child and mother would have to fend for themselves.
You are correct about the votes, someone else said it. But you are wrong about the number one cause of death for children: it is NOT guns, it’s abortion.
https://www.msn.com/en-us/news/news/abortion-is-leading-cause-of-death-worldwide-7th-consecutive-year/ar-AA1U5psK?ocid=BingNewsSerp
Even more so than wars, abortion is the number one cause of death for children! Don’t you think this is wrong? Children killed by “crazy” people with guns is statistically insignificant compared to the number of of children killed by abortion, so who is more crazy?
How to support them? But cutting out the multi billing or trillion dollar industry of abortion, that’s how. Children don’t NEED many things. What you are talking about is Wants, not Needs. I grew up with very little in a communist country and I can tell you, my children here in US, have much less than I did, because they have “things” that fill the emptiness of having too much and not realizing what they are missing. By all American standards I was very poor, but I think my children are more poor than I was and I didn’t even realize at the time how reach I was because I had everything I needed (minus the communist which I certainly did not need). Public schools are free, insurance is free if they are poor, give me a break! You can get clothing for free, many people donate very good clothing let’s say gently used. Not having all the gadgets is not enough of a reason to take a baby’ s life and we will all answer for this. They are thrown out like garbage.
The mother and child would not have to fend for themselves, that is propaganda to find a justification. There are more services and people that are willing to help including adoption and churches that will help. I can tell you I have friends that had abortions because it was so easy, and not one doesn’t regret it.
Bob,
There are actually people who are waiting in line to adopt…your automatic assumption that it’s society who has to raise the child is technically flawed…nevertheless, the DNA and behavior of the biological parents (psychiatric problems, drug / alcohol addiction, etc is always a risk when adopting)….
You are also forgetting another option, if someone is deemed irresponsible and incompetent to raise a child, however controversial this idea may be, the option of state-sponsored sterilization is in order too… that’s a way better outcome than abortion. Some European countries already implement that penalty on convicted male rapists (they call it “chemical castration”), and some US prisons have been known to supply “verility suppressants” to inmates in their food which actually results in a significant time period of “impotence” for those who are released from prison… so state-sponsored sterilization not an unprecedented concept in the Western world…it would be easy to extend that to drug addicts (male and female), as well as other “irresponsible” members of society who routinely use abortion as “birth control”, etc. It’s really a question of what society prioritizes, considers, and tolerates in terms of “sin”…currently most of Western secular society doesn’t view an “embryo” as a “human” (in direct contrast with our Church), so it would be a natural consequence that sterilization appears “barbaric” and “grossly unethical” in comparison… But to those who view abortion as murder, then sterilization is actually not as barbaric in contrast, because it prevents murder before it happens…however, we know that laws cater to the majority, and that what is legal is not always ethical, just as what is ethical is not always “legal”, either…
And that’s where things stand today…Solutions may actually exist, but overall societal willingness is lacking…
Not their bodies. It’s another human being whom our Creator said… “Before I formed you in the womb I knew you, before you were born I set you apart; I appointed you as a prophet to the nations.” Jeremiah 1:5
Anyone involved in the murder of these children is condemned and contemptible. laws should reflect that but instead allow the bloody mayhem to continue.
Up until this point, the “political establishment” was careful and very cordial with Karystianou, being sympathetic to the fact that her child was killed in the Tempi train wreck. They were “waiting for an official announcement” of the formation of the pending new political party as well as its platform before making any “non-cordial / non-sympathetic” comments. This key TV interview question was the “moment they have been waiting for to eradicate the political threat”, because recent polls are already hinting that she will make an impact if and when she creates a new part Unfortunately, the news channels will be “chewing on this bone” for a long time…
Nevertheless, the tragic outcome of this backlash by the “political establishment” exposes several positions that should alarm any Orthodox Christian:
1) Whether they realize this or not, their application of the definition of “far right” or “midieval” also includes the overwhelming majority of Saints of the Orthodox Church. The faithful voters should wake up to this reality. Reporters and politicians are openly labeling on Greek TV that Karystianou is a “far-right woman of a midieval nature”… Members of Parliament are actually comparing that “women in Iran went to bed with a mini skirt and woke up with a burka in 1979″…disgusting propaganda.
2) Their staunch belief that “human rights” only exist after actual birth goes against the Orthodox Church’s position, which even has feast days for March 25th, September 23d, December 9th (all Feasts that prove the Orthodox have always believed that life begins at conception). This opposing belief that is propagandized by politicians and TV reporters is equivalent to a denial of the Orthodox faith, a form of blasphemy, in a country that most people still claim to be Orthodox “on paper”…
3) And for the record, the other thing they are criticizing is the fact that she admitted to getting spiritual advice from an abbess (“gerontissa”), which they claim somehow infers she is a “tool” of the “far right”…
4) The Church’s general silence on this issue reminds us of Elpidophoros’ shameful comments a couple years ago on this topic…
https://gorthodox.com/en/news-item/i-support-birth-control-abortion-in-certain-cases-women-should-decide-head-of-greek-church-in-us-abp-elpidophoros
So if cowardly Church leaders continue to remain silent or even oppose Patristic tradition on this topic, does this imply that it is up to the Laity alone (including the now persecuted Karystianou) to make a Confession of Faith?
Markos I hear you & I get it, but quite frankly if conservatives want to win elections anymore they Must STOP 🛑 voicing the Anti- Abortion card.
Sorry – but not sorry.
No matter what Church says –
& remember, Church speaks in very, ultimate, idealic terms —
the fact remains, most ppl cannot adhere to these terms. Unwanted pregnancy will forever remain a PRIVATE Issue between a woman & her man — who’ve already sinned badly for acting without thinking!
And what’s more sinful is to treat sexuality as casual – even in marriage. But this is only understood & respected by the genuine spiritual.
Zoey,
We all sin… but then there is repentance.
If we sin by having an unwanted pregnancy under circumstances less than ideal, they worst thing is to make yet another sin, which is equal to murder, when we could just repent and ask God’s help to help us.
Virgin Mary did not ask for a child, yet when It was given to her, she accepted God’s plan for her and her Baby, even though she did not understand the situation. She had to deal with hardship from the moment her Baby was born and even before then–even suspicion from Joseph. She had to go in exile. Then she had to see her only Son ridiculed and killed. I do not think at any point she had any second thoughts, but she understood very well the Child was in God’s plan, as every baby that is given to us is also in God’s plan and we must not interrupt it because we think we know better than God.
This is not a matter of winning elections on earth, but in haven. Abortion is the leading cause of death world wide–we should tremble. The whole earth is dipped into innocent blood:
https://www.msn.com/en-us/news/news/abortion-is-leading-cause-of-death-worldwide-7th-consecutive-year/ar-AA1U5psK?ocid=BingNewsSerp
Zoey,
The problem in Greece is very different …Abortion is extremely low on the political priority list anyway (it’s not the same as in the US)…As a matter of fact, Italians and others have been traveling to Greece for abortions for years (because the laws are stricter in Italy and elsewhere)
But here’s the real reason why Karystianou’s comments won’t affect the polls…In the last several decades, Greek politicians never seem to pass laws that the people favor, because in essence they all seem more eager to bow down to EU mandates instead of leveraging Greece’s “veto” to force EU legislation that would actually benefit Greek citizens.
Mitsotakis was elected by ~20% of the population…those remember New Democracy as catering to “Conservatives” once upon a time, yet he is the one that closed down Churches during Covid (not even the Turks did that), and pushed vehemently for the gay marriage law (which he didn’t exactly disclose in detail during his election campaign)…quite a departure from a “Conservative platform”…In the meantime, New Democracy is quick to label any “Conservative voice” as “Far Right” or “Midieval”…of course the voters are definitely at fault for all this, but that’s how things roll in Greece. Nevertheless, Karystianou can actually do a lot of damage (at the polls) to New Democracy as well as to the central-left parties because she is an outsider, NOT a politician, AND she has an “axe to grind” against corruption, and that’s why all “establishment” parties are equally attacking her at first chance…she has a good chance at obtaining enough “angry citizen” votes to force a coalition government, which would finally have to focus a bit more on the Greek people, vs “special interests”.
My comment above was meant more to focus on the “true colors” of the entire political system (including the absence of true Conservatives), as well as the official Church hierarchy…
Markos.
One more point. During Christ’s life time on earth, abortion and homosexuality were acceptable in the Roman-Greek world. Christ spoke against so many subjects, but never against those two. If those subjects are so important, why were they not a part of his teachings?
Abortion had reached a point that Romans were concerned about loss of population at the empire.
Bob, not only Romans (who were not orthodox)… but everywhere you look… there are articles about falling demographics, yet no one cares. Greece is not immune to this problem. God’s commandment was to multiply but humans choose a different route, the “right” to choose, causing loss of population and demographic problems. This is a men made problem because of the “right” to choose.
Christ spoke about love. Christ is love. I can’t imagine He would need to explain that killing a baby is not an act of love.
Christ made reference to abortion when he said of those who betray him, “it would be better for him if he had not been born”. Being unborn is a much better state than being born and betraying Christ. The unborn human embryo is innocent and with God, regardless of whether it is destroyed by a miscarriage or the sin of abortion.
The apostle Paul spoke frequently about homosexuality. So clearly, the issue was addressed. Please remember all scripture is inspired by God not only the Gospels.
Bob,
After so many years on this planet, it’s a shame you opt for blasphemy… Not good.
The pagans did not have the 10 Commandments given to them, so it really doesn’t matter what they accepted or didn’t accept. “Thou shalt not kill” was a very clear message to those who understood it and believed it was God’s Commandment, and did not require further discussion or explanation. When Christ preached about “keeping the Commandments”, did he have to also list every possible way to kill a human as well, in order for your legalistic, Protestant-influenced cranial neurons to be satisfied?
Furthermore, when Jesus called St. John the Baptist the greatest man born from a woman, didn’t the Church Fathers explain that this is because he is the only man who ever prophesied BEFORE HE WAS BORN, when he jumped in his mothers womb, etc, when the Theotokos visited? Do you need it even more spelled out than that?
On your second point, where do you think that St. Paul learned the word “αρσενοκοιτια” from? Do you think he came up with that on his own, that he wasn’t aligned with the other Apostles who witnessed what Jesus said and did, OR, that his words were NOT God-inspired, and was somehow preaching something that Christ didn’t also preach? Are you falling into that delusion that St. Dorotheos of Gaza from the 6th century AD eloquently describes – the guy that starts saying “I’m only listening to St. Paul”…and then “only listening to Jesus”, and finally “only listening to myself (and the thoughts that the devil is supplying to me)”? Are we also now to believe that you are suddenly the authority on knowing the ENTIRETY of exactly what was “not explicitly said by Christ”, even though scripture is clear on this:
“And there are also many other things which Jesus did, which, if they should be written every one, I suppose that even the world itself could not contain the books that should be written. Amen.” (KJV) John 21:25…
Please take your blasphemous propaganda elsewhere…we’re not buying it. We expect this kind of rhetoric only from narrow-minded Protestants who only believe in Sola Scritura and reject Holy Tradition…
Thank you Markos, always edifying points you make! Like St. John the Baptist jump for joy on Theotokos visit & yet to be born.
Yes poster bob karp IS painfully blasphemous!! In biblical era condemnation of homosexuality was a given; Christ didn’t need to talk on it, but certainly talked on purity & He upheld The Old Testament Law but refined it to higher plane by stressing love, forgiveness & compassion for man’s sinful behavior but also commanded we “Sin No More.” Throughout holy Scripture we hear No praises for homosexuals & certainly No wedding event for them. We do know Jesus celebrating wedding for man/woman couple & turning water into wine.
And No saint ever attained a vision of Jesus or Theotokos who wasn’t living in purity & chastity.
Zooey. You, Sandy and Markos re a perfect fit for the parable of Luke 18:9-14. It starts like this:. “”Then Jesus told this story to some who had great confidence in their own righteousness and scorned everyone else:””
Christ forgave thieves and murderers. He never forgave hypocrites. And He despised hypocrisy. Hypocrisy is mentioned 45 times in the Gospels.
If I were you, I wouldn’t be calling others “blasphemers” or sinners. You will find out when you meet your maker, how sinful hypocrisy is.
No, we are not hypocrites. Not at all. Christ said, let the children come to me, not let the mothers “choose” if they want to have the baby or not.
This culture of death serves the devil, not Christ. He is the one that wants to kill people, starting with Adam and Eve. Your solution is the kill babies because they are an expense. By that standard, you are probably Ok to kill the elderly and the disabled because they are an very expense too. Why stop at abortions when there are others that need insurance and care? Why do they have the right to live while the unborn babies (you think) do not have this right? Should the cancer patients live? They are also very expensive and may need more medical care, perhaps causing the insurance overall to go up. How about the illegals that are using the hospitals for free? Should someone have the “right” to kill them too–especially their unborn babies?
Karystianou just got my vote.
Greeks have lost their moral compass. Spend five minutes at The Mall in Marousi and look around at how women, men and young children dress and conduct themselves. If that does not nauseate you, talk to them and hear their views. The prevailing morals are despicable.
This, in turn, is reflected in Greece’s leadership and establishment. We see it in politics, academia, and in every day life. If you express support for simple traditional family values, you’ll be branded an uneducated backward misogynist who wants to go back to the Dark Ages. And that will be coming from one with body piercings, tattoos, vaping pseudo-intellectual who has children out of wedlock and deems abortion as contraception, and a right. I fear that it is the norm in Greece, more so than in the United States. They do not even have a discussion about it!
That raises the point that Markos makes about the responsibility of our leaders. Forget Mitsotakis and Kasselakis. Where is the Church, which is charged with the country’s spiritual guidance?
Bob, I also read your comment. As always, you express yourself eloquently and respectfully. The subject of abortion, however, is so divisive that we can never reach consensus. It’s impossible because we talk about two different subjects that are irreconcilable. One talks about the woman’s right to choose and the other about the unborn human being’s right to life.
We cannot bridge that gap. The Church has spoken one way, the politicians have spoken another way. We, as individuals, make our own decisions, while millions of pregnancies are terminated — or, perhaps, millions of babies killed.
We won’t settle it here, or anywhere. I suggest, however, that Karystianou is a refreshing voice because this dialogue is largely non-existent in Greece, and they need to have it.
I don’t know how Karystianou will navigate Greek politics. This issue, however, makes waves, and that is good!
Leonidas – very well stated…
Greece is a secular country. Lots of religiosity but little Christianity. 2 Timothy 3:5 describes the situation in greece, they have a form of godliness but deny the power thereof. Greece is need of a prophetic leader who can lead the country in a religious revival. “If my people, who are called by my name, will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, I will hear from heaven, and I will heal their land.” 2 Chronicles 7:14.
This is the situation from the link I posted above:
“Abortion has consistently remained the leading cause of death worldwide, dating back to 2019.
The number of abortions performed worldwide has consistently hovered between 40 million and 50 million in the past seven years. About 42.4 million abortions were performed in 2019. That number rose slightly to over 42.6 million in 2020 and 2021, before increasing to more than 44 million in 2022, more than 44.6 million in 2023 and about 45.1 million in 2024. The approximate number of lives lost to abortion in the past seven years adds up to more than 300 million, equivalent to nearly the entire population of the United States.”
So I am sorry I feel so strongly about this, it is not about being ultra orthodox or ultra conservative, or ultra anything. It is just wrong to kill hundreds of millions of babies. When will there be enough? It is not the women that benefit from this and many of them do regret it. They are young women, many of them too young to make the right decision because they do not understand when life begins. We have the example of St John who recognized baby Jesus before he was born. Was St John just tissue? Was he a small human being worth living? It is the industry that makes billions. The narrative would change overnight if the billions would go away.
Sandy, I appreciate your zeal for the faith, but it’s a waste of time trying to have dialogue with those who place themselves outside the Church by their opinions. I would say to any Orthodox person, you’re entitled to your opinion, but you’re NOT entitled to your own theology. My late mother was a leftist, but she did teach me to be honest. If I felt I couldn’t accept the teachings of the Church, I would feel obligated to leave. I came to the faith of my ancestors for ethnic reasons, but I stay because I’m convinced that I’m in the Ark of Salvation. I almost lost it after my wife died, but I finally became a monastic to repent and to save my soul. It doesn’t help when we try to have dialogue with those who distort the truth like Joseph Goebbels of Nazi Germany.
Hieromonk Alexei, Yes, you are of course correct, it doesn’t help trying to have a dialog with those that distort things, but my comments are not necessarily for them. They are also for those like yourself and a few others here that agree with what I have to say and disagree with them. When it comes to faith I can’t stay quiet most of the time. I was quiet over there and I had almost no faith. You almost lost it after your wife died and I almost lost it during Communism. I was baptized orthodox as a child, but my faith I found here in US, strangely enough. I found it here in an organic form and untainted, from reading about what happened there. A world I lived in but was unknown to me, as I was living in a parallel world. The communist martyrs brough the faith to me, with the way they lived and with the way they died. Their blood is still on the prisons walls and the cold metal gates.
There are so many holy relics streaming healing oil and it’s their faith I want to have. Because of their ultimate sacrifice and Christ’s ultimate sacrifice, I do not have the right to distort it but I have the responsibility to preserve it.
So for this reason, I do not stay quiet. The situation would be quite different if I was born here. But I do take breaks from all forums from time to time and especially during lent, because I can spend my time a lot wiser than arguing with Joseph and Bob. The communists did take my faith away from birth, but Joseph and Bob will never be able to even change it a little. It’s written in stone now and no one can change it..
May God bless you for being called to a higher step Please forgive me and pray for us.
Every single country with a majority Orthodox Christian population has legal abortion. It is often Muslim countries, populated by those who betray Christ, that have outlawed abortion according to Islamic law.
Markos, Jk & Sandy much appreciate your input & good to know there’s still true Orthodox defending the faith now being diluted & contaminated by the Godless rabid Left. Just look at lefty gay Don Lemon trashing on the Church & harassing the faithful?! I hear he may be under arrest. Liberalism IS a mental disorder.
Memo: To bob karp =
What part of Lord Jesus Commandment to
“GO & SIN NO MORE” –
don’t you understand??
Jesus told the adulteress That AFTER he forgave her.
We All Forgive sinful acts but we stand firmly on Moral Principle:
Any Sexual Deviancy Is Anathema & Outside God’s Plan
*You’re welcome 😉
Nick. Please, allow this reply. They dont stop attacking me and I want them to realize how hypocritical they are.
Zooey and to all super-christians, such as Markos, the hieromonk, Sandy and all the others who are “pro-life”, I noticed that when Renee Good was shot and killed in Minneapolis by ICE, most of you celebrated. You all judged her, as the hypocritical pharissee that you all are, who was convinced that he was better than the sinner who was beating his chest in confessing..
And your hypocritical “pro-life” doesn’t end there. You find excuses for starving children after they are born, for letting them get shot, because of proliferation of guns and for killing them by denying health care. If one life is worth more than another to you, then you are not pro-life. You’re anti-life. Pro-choice are actually more pro-life than you all are. Because you hypocrites judge a woman for her decision, while its no skin off your back, and none of your business, but then, when your taxes would support the life that you “saved”, you’re o.k. with letting it die.
You are feeling better for “fighting” for life on this forum, calling me a sinner, while I never advocated for abortion, only for letting a woman decide for herself and her circumstances and health at the time.. I emphasized that men have NO business dictating what a woman can do with her body. And I consider that rule as sacrosanct. I will NOT vote for an anti-abortion candidate. Because I don’t get pregnant. If its a sin, let her face her maker. Your hypocrisy has no end.
Bob,
Please tone down the argument… Helleniscope and most of our followers decried the killing in MN and every killing. If we were hypocrites such as other Greek and national media we would not do it in such a vocal and public ways…
Nick. You did decried Good’s shooting, to your credit. But think back of Sandy and the others, calling her lesbian and psychotic and that her kids are better without her. I despise hypocrites and super christians
Bob, it turns out that lunatics of the left, the same people who were offended with the peaceful demonstrations of the conservatives, are organized in MN with one goal only to allow illegals free reign in this country. My proposal was first the rule of law and second a more rational policy on immigration. A policy that would filter out the criminals and the recent illegal arrivals during the last 5-6 years and allow a path o normalcy for the rest – with strict criteria (such as no dependence on public money).
Bob, I never said such things. Not once I even make a comment about what happened there! Now you just lied! That topic has ZERO comments from me!!! NEVER EVER would I say such things! You call me a hypocrite for something you say I said, but I did not. You be the judge of what kind of person you are for doing this!
We say: Murdering a baby is a sin, let her know that there are other options and help her and the baby find a different path so that she does NOT sin because I would hope, if I would be so confused and choose the path of death, someone would stop me in time. It is our duty to try to save a life, if we can.
Bob says: If it’s a sin, let her face her maker–this shows how little you care about the women and their babies and their salvation.
We: want her NOT to sin and let the baby live.
You: don’t care if she does sin and if the baby dies.
You chose death over life. Christ does not want the sinner’s death but our salvation, ALL of us. Once that baby is killed, the mother can’t bring the baby back to life. We are pro LIFE. Are you pro DEATH?
If you would see a newborn, hours old, would you attempt to save the baby if the baby is in danger or would you say, well, where is the mother? If she doesn’t save the baby and lets the baby die, well, her fault. She will meet her maker. Whatever!
What is the difference between this baby and one that was in the womb, a few hours ago?
Please remember that we will be judged not only by what we did, but also by the good that we could do eg to save a life, and we did not. Who is hypocritical, if you really DO NOT CARE what happens to the mother, on judgement day, when she meets her maker? How can your mind be so twisted??? Would you be ok, then, if she goes to hell, knowing that maybe you could have helped?
Nick. I agree that illegal criminal immigrants should be ousted. But when a white American woman is killed and her murder is celebrated, this country has a problem.
You, yourself had exposed the danger to our economy, if illegals, who represent 90% of the agricultural workers were ousted. Agricultural workers are paid less than the minimum wage, by law. Who wants the back breaking work of picking tomatoes? When we eat chicken or beef, those animals dont package themselves, super-market ready. . They have to be slaughtered. Who among us will work for $12.50 an hour, killing chickens for 10 hours a day, being splattered with blood and feces? Who among us would want to kill cows by shocking them, then shooting them in the head and hanging them upside down?
My mother in law, at 98 is in a nursing home. Who do you think cleans her and changes her diaper? It isn’t Americans.
Moreover, Trump now wants to deport and denaturalize immigrants such as myself. I came here at 13 years of age, legally, with my parents, sponsored by my father’s sister. I became a citizen at 18 years old. I dont care personally. I’d go back to Greece in a heartbeat. The problem is that hate for one segment of the population, metasticizes, like cancer, where no one is safe.
Trump began by calling Mexicans rapists and killers. Then, it spread to everyone who doesn’t look or sound American enough. Then, it spread to his perceived political enemies. He is after comedians, schools, banks, blue states, judges that dissatisfy him. Where does it end? After Good’s murder, even white American women are not safe.
Nick, can you clarify which peaceful demostrations by conservatives were opposed by the lunatic left?
