By Nick Stamatakis

A member of our “resistance network” provided the following letter, a response of the Metropolitan Alexios of Atlanta, dated May 29, 2020, to Father Alkiviadis Kalyvas.  In his scathing response, Alexios, after noting that his response was “requested” (Why? Maybe because he opposed in practice to Fr.Kalyvas’ novelist teachings and kept the tradition in his Metropolis?) answers that we are not concerned with how other Churches deliver the Holy Communion, but we are only concerned with the 2,000 year old tradition of the Greek Orthodox Patriarchate!.. Which is far older than the Slavonic Churches!…

Alexios continues by saying the obvious, that by bringing up this issue now, the only sure outcome will be the division of the faithful at a time when they are already deeply divided.  And he teaches Fr.Kalyvas a basic theological lesson: It’s not the job of any theologian or any metropolitan to decide on such important issues, not even the job of the Eparchial Synod, but the job of the Holy Synod of the Church in Constantinople… (Obviously, Met. Alexios was not aware at the time of the letter of Pat.Bartholomew calling all leaders of other Churches in a panorthodox Synod).

Finally, after explaining to Fr.Kalyvas that there is another side to his research and that this side is documented in numerous essays which he encloses to his response, Alexios concludes by proclaiming the true Faith and saying that “Holy Communion is beyond Science and only for those approaching with “fear of God”!…

Our congratulations to Metropolitan Alexios! We wish he could lead in proclaiming the Faith and our Christian principles in so many other issues awaiting appropriate answers!…
