The President of Greece Shows Disrespect Wearing Sneakers!!

EDITOR’S NOTE (Nick Stamatakis): Yes, my fellow Greek-Americans, this is the President of Greece in the photo, appearing in Rhodes on the 73rd official celebration of the Union of the Dodecanese with Greece.  Mrs. Sakellaropoulou was wearing a rather odd-looking pair of sneakers – the kind you expect to see teenagers wear at a park!  If comfort was the issue, I can assure you that the market is full of very fancy, appropriate (and expensive!) black sneakers. Yet, Mrs. Sakellaropoulou made her choice to walk into the red carpet at the Airport looking like a homeless person… She has shown total disrespect to the hundreds of thousands of Greeks who fought the Axis powers and died so that Greece, after the War and the Peace Treaties, be able to annex the beautiful Twelve Islands from Italy…  (Thank God later at the ceremony of laying a wreath at a monument she changed to wear regular heeled shoes – only to change back to her ugly sneakers a minute later)… 

Mrs. Sakellaropoulou comes from the Left (SYRIZA) but was chosen to be nominated as President of Greece by Kyriakos Mitsotakis.  We have seen time and again that the attack on the values of patriotism is a worldwide phenomenon – it does not have to do with right and left anymore.  This is not the first time Mrs. Sakellaropoulou raised eyebrows: she started from her first day in office when she removed national symbols from the surroundings…

One piece of advice for our Greek-American Associations and Organizations: NEVER invite, NEVER honor, NEVER deal with such un-patriotic politicians… Special note to the Federation of Hellenic Societies of NY: Whenever you plan the next parade on 5th Avenue (probably next year if we get approval from …Dr.Fauci) NEVER invite neither Mitsotakis nor Tsipras or ANY other Greek politician – but only the very few who have shown proof for their patriotism and respect for the those who offered the ultimate sacrifice for the values of Hellenism!

Η Πρόεδρος της Ελληνικής Δημοκρατίας Κατερίνα Σακελλαροπούλου αφίχθη στο αεροδρόμιο «Διαγόρας» της Ρόδου με αεροσκάφος της Πολεμικής Αεροπορίας, προκειμένου να παραβρεθεί στις εκδηλώσεις για την 73η Επέτειο της Ενσωμάτωσης της Δωδεκάνησου με την Ελλάδα.
Στο αεροδρόμιο, την κ. Σακελλαροπούλου υποδέχτηκε ο Περιφερειάρχης Νοτίου Αιγαίου Γιώργος Χατζημάρκος του οποίου και αποδέχτηκε την πρόσκληση για την παρουσία της στις φετινές εκδηλώσεις της Ενσωμάτωσης που πραγματοποιούνται μέσα σε σκληρό lock down σε Ρόδο και Κάλυμνο.

Η εμφάνιση της προέδρου όμως, μόνο σε επίσημη επίσκεψη δεν παρέπεμπε, ενώ έχει ξεσπάσει σάλος στο διαδίκτυο με οργισμένα σχόλια στα μέσα κοινωνικής δικτύωσης. Με την συντριπτική πλειοψηφία των ελλήνων να θεωρούν ότι για ακόμα μια φορά προσέβαλε όχι μόνο τον θεσμό αλλά και την ίδια την επέτειο. Σε στιγμές μάλιστα όπου οι τουρκικές προκλήσεις και η αμφισβήτηση της ελληνικής εθνικής κυριαρχίας ειδικά στα Δωδεκάνησα, απαιτούν απόλυτη σοβαρότητα από τους κυβερνώντες.
