EDITOR’S NOTE (Nick Stamatakis): Peter and Georgia Nikolopoulos, the heart and soul of the American Philhellenes Society (www.amphso.com), have been working for decades, helped by a very active and dedicated board, to bring to light this momentous event, the dedication of a wonderful memorial monument in Aurora, Illinois (a suburb of Chicago), to all those American Philhellenes who fought in the Greek War of Independence and sacrificed all they could – some giving their life – for Greece.

The event will take place on September 25, 12pm.  All Greek-American organizations and all of us, who can travel are invited… This is one of the best 2 or 3 events this year celebrating the 200 years of the Greek Revolution…

It’s a beautiful monument that lights up the central square of Aurora… Local authorities have already commented that this monument upgrades their town and gives it an aura of notoriety. Some recent photos below…
