EDITOR’S NOTE (George Gialtouridis): To this very important research by Fanoula Argyrou, we also need to note that Durakoglu started her career in Hillary Clinton’s presidential campaign in 2008. Clinton lost in the primaries to Obama and then became Obama’s Secretary of State. Ms. Durakoglu is fluent in Turkish and has traveled extensively throughout the Middle East and Europe. Prior to working in the US House of Representatives, she served on the advance team of Hillary Clinton’s campaign for President in 2008. These are not two but three: Naz Durakoğlu, Özge Güzelsu and Didem Nişancı
The news that “two Turkish-Americans” help “in shaping US foreign policy, as the White House characteristically justified, justifying its decision to appoint them to key positions in the State Department, was promoted by the Greek website www.newsbreak.gr. These are Naz Durakoğlu and .zge Güzelsu. According to the report, they have close relations with Turkey, and coordinate with President Biden’s close associate Amos Hochstein the State Department energy policy and with their many years of experience in Congress are behind the cancellation of the EastMed pipeline.
The whole affair was brought to light by two Greek-American senators, Gus M. Bilirakis and Nicole Malliotakis. The letter of the Greek-American senators dated. February 18, 2022 to Naz Durakoğlu, Principal Deputy Assistant Secretary, Bureau of Legislative Affairs, Washington, and related news, at the following links.
But the “successful” Turkish-Americans in President Biden’s administration are not two but three:
Naz Durakoğlu was appointed in January 2021 as Principal Deputy Assistant Secretary in the Bureau of Legislative Affairs, the highest position ever given to a Turkish-American in the recent history of the US State Department. Naz Durakoğlu speaks fluent Turkish, holds a BA from Rutgers University and an MA from Naval War College. But before returning to the State Department, according to the Turkish-American website (link below) he was a senior adviser to the National Security, and managed the activities of the Senate (Senate Foreign Relations Subcommittee on Europe and Regional Security Cooperation … NATO). Prior to serving as a senior fellow at the Atlantic Council’s Digital Forensic Research Lab, she also served in the Obama Administration as Senior Advisor to the Assistant Secretary of State for European and Eurasian Affairs, Victoria Nuland, from 2015 to 2017. She began her career in the U.S. House of Representatives where she held various positions, including as Legislative Director to Congressman Bill Keating and Subcommittee Staff Director on the Foreign Affairs Committee ».

In 2010 – Michael McMahon
But let’s go even further for the higher. The fact that Naz Durakoğlu reached so high in the State Department did not fall from the sky overnight! This lady has been working for Turkish interests for years. In 2010 e.g. she also worked for Democratic nominee Michael McMahon as his “legislative assistant.” McMahon had voted against the recognition of the Armenian Genocide, and had received contributions to his election campaign from Turkish interests, as revealed at the time by the Greek-American organization, CYPRUS ACTION NETWORK OF AMERICA, in collaboration with the United Nations with the Armenian organization ANCA. And they had launched their own campaign to inform the expatriates, calling on them not to vote for McMahon.
McManon then lost the election thanks to the activities of CANA and ANCA. But it is worth remembering that Michael McMahon was also supported by our expatriates, and there are photos … Ignoring and disregarding the honest and genuine patriot, Nikos Taneris who fought until the end of his short life on a non-profit basis. For Greek ideals, homeland, religion and liberation of our Cyprus. Why; Simply because he was against the British-Turkish bi-communal, bi-zonal federation and did not accept to join the bi-zonal expatriate leader established in the USA …
As part of their enlightenment campaign, CANA and ANCA also released a list of Michael McMahon’s contacts with Naz Durakoğlu in relation to Turkish and Azerbaijani elements.
I am copying below some of Naz Durakoğlu’s contacts below that notice.
I close, however, with a note and a question.
1) Although the Bilirakis / Malliotakis letter does not mention this, the Biden administration appointed the “duo” Naz Durakoğlu and Amos Hochstein as head of the Eastern Mediterranean energy strategy, apparently because they intended to leave EastMed and retaliate. Israel and Cyprus through Turkey, as recorded in 2015 by the famous “Biden map”.
2) The big question that arises effortlessly now and that concerns all of us who are involved in politics in America is: How come while they saw Hochstein, they did not see this lady, to go through so many important positions, to reach so high , to know her, to see her, and for no one to speak for years?
