EDITOR’S NOTE (Nick Stamatakis): Two days ago, we reported that Russia, Turkey, Iran, and Syria would hold a critical meeting in Moscow.  Today a HUGE piece of news was announced as, with China’s mediation, Iran and Saudi Arabia will shake hands, make peace and reopen diplomatic ties!! This is a historic moment! It is the first time a peace deal has been signed in the broader Middle East without American intervention!! A watershed moment for the geopolitical balance globally… The status of the USD is at stake, among many other issues, particularly Israel, which will now be isolated. We should note that throughout the last 12 months, Russia had made many similar diplomatic attempts, passing the baton to China to finish the job…

As far as Greece and Cyprus are concerned, the isolation of Israel will make Cyprus and Greece necessary for its survival – in essence, they will serve as an umbilical cord for Israel. We had often said that the Cyprus problem would be solved when the conditions of the 1974 invasion were reversed.  For the past few years, we have been watching this reversal.  A new cold war is coming where the West and East will be opposing each other very staunchly.  In such an environment, Cyprus will be easier to be integrated into the EU and NATO as a unified state.  One note of caution: In the previous cold war, Hellenism had Russia’s door open, and the Russians stopped several “Annan-like” plans in the UN Security Council.  In the new Cold War, it looks like Russia’s door will not be open, and this entails many risks for both Greece and Cyprus.

Finally, as far as the Greek Lobbying efforts are concerned, it is imperative to switch gears.  The focus on the DC establishment has to change.  It is essential to establish a GLOBAL structure, including the Hellenic Diaspora in all continents.  Even more critical is incorporating Hellenic “Ecumenical” institutions such as Navigation/Shipping, which do business with all powers.  Finally, it would be of paramount importance to free the Constantinople Patriarchate from its State Department chains and use it as a unity symbol for the whole of the “Orthodox” world – in Eastern Europe, in Russia, in America, and even in India (where the Malankara Orthodox Church has one million followers!!)

Iran and Saudi Arabia agree to re-open embassies in China brokered diplomatic deal

Iran and Saudi Arabia agreed on Friday to re-establish diplomatic relations in a deal brokered by China, following four days of secret talks in Beijing.

Diplomats from Iran and Saudi Arabia agreed to re-open embassies within the next two months, according to a statement. “The agreement includes their affirmation of the respect for the sovereignty of states and the non-interference in internal affairs,” said the statement that was signed by the two Middle Eastern countries as well as China..

Saudi Arabia severed diplomatic ties with Iran in 2016 after its embassy in Tehran was stormed during a dispute between the two countries over Riyadh’s execution of a Shi’ite Muslim cleric.

Three years later, in 2019, Saudi Arabia blamed Iran for missile and drone attacks on its oil facilities as well as attacks on tankers. Iran denied the charges.

Yemen’s Iran-aligned Houthi movement has also carried out cross-border missile and drone attacks into Saudi Arabia, which leads a coalition fighting the Houthis, and in 2022 extended the strikes to the United Arab Emirates.
