A reader, who a trusted source of information, verified for us that what you see in this photo is true: To make extra “floor space”, some owners of businesses in Eastern Turkey, in the area hit by the 7.7 Earthquake, cut off supporting columns in multilevel buildings!! Yes, corruption was a big part of the extra destruction caused by the earthquake, as many developers were eager to finish up the buildings cheaply and fast… But human stupidity comes a close second…
