When an Archbishop of the supreme theological stature of Anastasios of Albania, who is considered to be at the top of all Orthodox leaders, Greek or non-Greek, because of his knowledge and wisdom, feels the need to “come out swinging” against Elpidoktonos for his latest “accomplishment”, the election of Bishop Koja, for the Albanian-speaking parishes of America, then you know that Elpidoktonos has reached the end of the road…

The words and phrases used by the Archdiocese of Albania (in the official statement – below in English and Greek) in describing the past events involving Theophan Koja are truly disturbing: “He led a group of ultra-nationalists”, “divisive”, “he expelled… faithful from a Church”, installed a “schismatic” etc… All these painful events indicating an extremely anti-Greek group still in charge of a church of Elbasan.

AB Anastasios of Albania does not mince his words and accuses Elpidophoros directly for these “unexpected events,” saying plainly that these were “due to the insistence of the Archbishop of America, Elpidophoros”…

My friends, Elpidoktonos picked an anti-Greek to bring him into the fold of the Greek Orthodox Archdiocese of America.  Why? Maybe because he was working for the Turkish Intelligence and the Turkish Foreign Ministry before his election in 2019 – and still is today? And they have set their main goal to dilute the Greek communities abroad in any way possible.  The ties between the Albanian government and Turkey are well-known, and they include military cooperation at the northern border of Greece!…

Frankly, I am not surprised at all… It was one of the three or four main reasons I gave him the nickname Elpidoktonos on the day of his election…

Let’s not forget that Pat. Bartholomew is equally responsible for this debacle: Forever jealous of the intellectual stature of Anastasios, he cannot swallow the fact that AB Anastasios stood against him with reason and wisdom on the issue of Ukrainian autocephaly. The intellectual ineptitude of Bartholomew could never measure up against the arguments of Anastasios… But Bartholomew had to take “revenge” by undermining the Church of Albania – that’s how “small” he is…

ORTHODOX AUTOCEPHALOUS CHURCH OF ALBANIA

ANNOUNCEMENT

Fr. Theophan (Arjan) Koja was elected Auxiliary Bishop for Albanians in the USA!

Archimandrite Theophan (Arjan) Koja, known to the Orthodox of Albania as a leader of divisive actions, was born in Tirana in 1966. He attended for a while the seminary in Durrës and then went to Romania, where he was ordained a deacon and later a priest. Returning to the country, at the head of a group of ultra-nationalists, on October 8^th, 1995, he expelled the celebrants of the Orthodox Autocephalous Church of Albania during the celebration of the Divine Liturgy from the Holy Church of the Panagia in the Castle, in the old town of Elbasan. There he installed Nikolla Marku, “ordained” by a schismatic Bishop of the Church of Skopje, under the name “Independent National Albanian Orthodox Church of Saint Maria Elbasan” (Kisha Ortodokse e pavarur Kombetare shqiptare Shen Maria Elbasan). Thereafter, his accomplice Nikolla Marku, has not ceased publicly calling the Orthodox Autocephalous Church of Albania as Greek. Using purely nationalist and political terminology, Nikolla Marku continues to occupy the historic Orthodox Church of Elbasan to this day. (See more than 15 related responses in the Ngjallja journal e.g. November 2015, February 2016, April 2016, November 2018).

After his failure, Archimandrite Theophan settled in the USA, where he joined the Romanian Church. He never sought forgiveness for his disruptive actions in the early years of the restoration of the Orthodox Autocephalous Church of Albania. Three years ago, he moved to Boston and sought to become Bishop in succession to Metropolitan Nikon (Liolin). However, the leadership of the O.C.A. avoided his election, when they received reliable information of his subversive actions.

Recently he sought to join the Greek Orthodox Church of America. Archbishop Elpidophoros promised him elevation to the Episcopate, and with a rapid procedure, according to the official press release, he was elected Bishop of Philomelion “serving the pastoral needs of the Albanian Orthodox Diocese under the jurisdiction of the Mother Church of Constantinople”.

Surprise and bewilderment are widespread among the Orthodox of Albania regarding this unexpected development due to the insistence of the Archbishop of America, Elpidophoros. We confine ourselves to the necessary reminder of the divisive problems provoked by Archimandrite Theophan during the reconstruction from the ruins of the longsuffering Church of Albania.

Ο π. Θεοφάνης (Arjan) Koja εξελέγη Βοηθός Επίσκοπος για Αλβανούς στις Η.Π.Α.! 

Ο Αρχιμανδρίτης Θεοφάνης (Arjan) Koja, γνωστός στους Ορθοδόξους της Αλβανίας ως πρωτοστάτης διχαστικών ενεργειών, γεννήθηκε στα Τίρανα το 1966. Φοίτησε για λίγο στο Ιερατικό Φροντιστήριο του Δυρραχίου και στη συνέχεια μετέβη στη Ρουμανία, όπου χειροτονήθηκε διάκονος και πρεσβύτερος. Επιστρέφοντας στη χώρα, επικεφαλής μιας ομάδας υπερεθνικιστών, την 8^η Οκτωβρίου 1995 εκδίωξε, κατά την τέλεση της θείας Λειτουργίας, από τον Ιερό Ναό της Παναγίας στο Κάστρο, στην παλαιά πόλη του Ελμπασάν, τους λειτουργούς της Ορθοδόξου Αυτοκεφάλου Εκκλησίας της Αλβανίας. Εκεί εγκατέστησε τον Νικόλα Μάρκου, «χειροτονημένο» από σχισματικό Επίσκοπο της Εκκλησίας των Σκοπίων, με την ονομασία «Ανεξάρτητη Εθνική Αλβανική Ορθόδοξη Εκκλησία Αγία Μαρία Ελμπασάν» (Kisha Ortodokse e pavarur Kombetare shqiptare Shen Maria Elbasan). Έκτοτε ο συνεργός του Νικόλας Μάρκου δεν έπαυσε να αποκαλεί δημοσίως την Ορθόδοξο Αυτοκέφαλο Εκκλησία της Αλβανίας ως ελληνική. Χρησιμοποιώντας αμιγώς εθνικιστική και πολιτική ορολογία, συνεχίζει να κατέχει τον ιστορικό Ορθόδοξο Ναό του Ελμπασάν μέχρι σήμερα. (Βλέπε άνω των 15 σχετικές ανταποκρίσεις στην εφημερίδα Ngjallja π. χ. Νοέμβριος 2015, Φεβρουάριος 2016, Απρίλιος 2016, Νοέμβριος 2018).

Μετά την αποτυχία του, ο Αρχιμανδρίτης Θεοφάνης  εγκαταστάθηκε στις Η.Π.Α., όπου εντάχθηκε στην Ρουμανική Εκκλησία. Δεν ζήτησε ποτέ συγγνώμη για τις διασπαστικές ενέργειές του στα πρώτα χρόνια της ανασυστάσεως της Ορθοδόξου Αυτοκέφαλου Εκκλησίας της Αλβανίας. Προ τριετίας μετακινήθηκε στη Βοστόνη και αναζήτησε να γίνει Επίσκοπος εις διαδοχήν του μητροπολίτου κυρού Nikon Liolin. Παρα ταύτα, η ηγεσία της O.C.A. απέφυγε την εκλογή του, όταν πληροφορήθηκε υπεύθυνα τις ανατρεπτικές ενέργειές του.

Προσφάτως επιδίωξε να ενταχθεί στην Ελληνορθόδοξη Εκκλησία της Αμερικής. Ο Αρχιεπίσκοπος κ. Ελπιδοφόρος τού υποσχέθηκε προαγωγή εις Επίσκοπον και με ταχύτατες διαδικασίες, κατά την επίσημη ανακοίνωση, εξελέγη Επίσκοπος Φιλομηλίου «ὡς Ἀρχιερατικῶς Προϊστάμενος διά τάς ὑπό τό Οἰκουμενικόν Πατριαρχεῖον ἐν Ἡνωμέναις Πολιτείαις Ἀμερικῆς Ἀλβανοφώνους Ὀρθοδόξους Κοινοτήτας».

Η έκπληξη και η απορία είναι διάχυτες στους Ορθοδόξους της  Αλβανίας για την απροσδόκητη αυτή εξέλιξη, με την εμμονή του Αρχιεπισκόπου Αμερικής κ. Ελπιδοφόρου. Περιοριζόμαστε στην αναγκαία υπενθύμιση των διχαστικών προβλημάτων που προκάλεσε ο Αρχιμανδρίτης Θεοφάνης κατά την εκ των ερειπίων ανασυγκρότηση της μαρτυρικής Εκκλησίας της Αλβανίας.
