Mike Pompeo and Amb. Geoffrey Pyatt, both “deeper than deep-staters”, and servers of the globalist Cabal for a long time, had a major role in their foolish acts, in the creation of a new spike of anti-Americanism in Greece. The country spent the best part of six decades after the end of WWII and the Civil War (1949), trying to reconcile the two opposing sides, the left and the right, with the left always being the flagbearer of anti-Americanism, rightfully so: the US not only had a major role in the victory of the right-wing patriotic side in the civil war, but it was also instrumental in bringing about the military dictatorship of 1967-74, which ended with the Turkish invasion of Cyprus.
But after the enormous influence Samuel Huntigton’s “Clash of Civilizations” (started as a paper in the early 1990s) had in planning the US foreign policy, Amb. Pyatt took it upon himself to apply Huntington’s theory in Orthodoxy as a whole, with a “little help from his friends”, Victoria Nuland and Mike Pompeo most notable among them. After he took part, as an Ambassador (!!) in the CIA-organized coup in Kiev’s Maidan Square (2014), he was transferred to Athens in 2016 and, emboldened as he was by the Kiev “success”, started a very daring policy of trying to demolish very deep-rooted sentiments of friendship between the Russians and the Greeks, mostly by attempting to disconnect the Moscow Patriarchate from World Orthodoxy.
The futility of his foolish attempts is depicted in numerous photographs of his visits to Mt.Athos, where he looks like the proverbial (Protestant) “fly in (Orthodox) milk”. Take a look at two of these photos posted here and judge for yourself: Does this look like a “sane” policy or it actually seems like banging your head on a wall? I am sure you will agree with me that the second option is true.
Even more foolish although not as obviously mindless, were the numerous visits of Mike Pompeo with both Pat.Bartholomew and his puppet Met. Epiphanios of Ukraine. Pompeo, whose wife is Greek Orthodox, felt that it is “up his alley” to help create a deep division in Orthodoxy. While before 2016 and during the Panorthodox Synod of that year, Pat. Bartholomew assured all faithful that Ukraine was, is, and shall remain under the Moscow Patriarchate, suddenly a couple of years later, Bartholomew granted “autocephaly” to the Ukrainian schismatics.
Did these policies achieve their goals? Not at all. The majority of Orthodox Churches oppose vehemently the Schism caused by Bartholomew, the CIA, and the State Department. The flagbearer in this struggle is the most enlightened and respected leader of Orthodoxy today, AB Anastasios of Albania, who stood against Bartholomew in a series of letters that proved how minuscule a leader Bartholomew is. Above all, Russia and Vladimir Putin enjoy a steady (for at least two decades) 70% approval within Greece. Please do not doubt my numbers. I have been following this issue for a long time, and I am probably the only one in this audience who could write a questionnaire and perform a professional poll.
The worst result was and still is that by acting foolishly against a 1,000-year-old friendship between Russia and Greece, they managed to rekindle the anti-American feelings that the leftist Tsipras government put to the grave forever (we mistakenly thought). This time the anti-Americanism is flagrant on the other side of the aisle, who saw Pyatt’s and Pompeo’s acts as a direct attack on what the conservatives consider “sacred and holy”. How patently stupid of them! But they suffer from the same arrogance and deranged self-assuredness that has inflicted the Western leadership as a whole: the results of these “diseases” are now in plain sight as the Russian military easily turns to dust the most “advanced” Western weaponry.
Instead, they could have applied common sense policies and enhanced the Greece-US relationship.
- They could have increased American investment in Greece, taking advantage of the country’s most precious capital, the educated, innovative, perennially inventive “Greek minds”, the famous “Greek DNA”.
- They could also have stressed the many common interests between the two countries: they are both sea powers. With the foolish neocons dominating the State Department, we are lucky we did not see “sanctions” against Greek shipowners over the last two years – even though these shipowners were and are natural US allies.
- They could have taken advantage of two million Greek Americans’ natural connection with Greece.
I could go on and on. But I am hoping that the coming end of the war in Ukraine and the rise of a multipolar world will give rise to a more sane leadership that will abandon barbaric hegemonic, exploitative schemes against the rest of humanity. One that may choose to re-baptize itself in the ideals of classical Greece and choose peaceful Hellenic cosmopolitanism to frame their decisions and actions.
