In Greece, Metropolitan Paul’s arrest is called “torture by the authorities”
The Greek resource “Romfea” doubted the validity of the court’s decision on Metropolitan Pavel and called the arrest of the bishop “torture by Ukrainian authorities”.
The imprisonment of Metropolitan Pavel, the abbot of the Kyiv-Pechersk Lavra, in the pre-trial detention centre is nothing but a continuation of torture against the UOC on the part of the political and judicial authorities of Ukraine. This is stated in the article of the Greek resource “Romfea”.
Greek journalists also drew attention to the bail amount of more than 33 million hryvnias, which the UOC hierarch may pay to the state in order to be released from custody.
The publication notes that the Ukrainian court released a person accused of murder on bail in the amount of 100,000 hryvnias, and a suspect in the case of selling children – in the amount of 1 million hryvnias.
Journalists also doubted the very evidence with which the prosecution proved the “guilt” of the bishop.
“During the trial, Metropolitan Pavel emphasised the personal rather than public nature of his telephone conversations. He also questioned the authenticity of some of the conversations, pointing out that he did not know the people whose voices were heard on the recording. It should be noted that the court did not take into account the bishop’s objections, refusing to call as witnesses those persons who allegedly were the interlocutors,” the publication added.
As reported, the court sent the Lavra abbot to jail.

Προφυλακίστηκε ο Ηγούμενος της Λαύρας του Κιέβου, Μητροπολίτης Παύλος

Δεν έχουν τέλος τα μαρτύρια που βιώνει καθημερινά η Εκκλησία της Ουκρανίας, από τις πολιτικές και δικαστικές αρχές της χώρας.
Συγκεκριμένα την Παρασκευή 14 Ιουλίου 2023 στο πλαίσιο της εξετάσεως του φακέλου κατά του Καθηγουμένου της Λαύρας των Σπηλαίων του Κιέβου, Μητροπολίτη Βίσγκοροντ και Τσερνόμπιλ κ. Παύλου το δικαστήριο μετέτρεψε την ποινή από κατ’ οίκον περιορισμό σε κράτηση με δυνατότητα αποφυλάκισης με χρηματική εγγύηση 900.000 δολαρίων.
Η ετυμηγορία εκδόθηκε μετά από αίτημα της Εισαγγελίας, η οποία κατηγορεί τον Μητροπολίτη Παύλο ότι «προέβη σε δηλώσεις, οι οποίες δικαιολογούσαν και αρνούνταν τις ενέργειες του κράτους – εισβολέα και προσέβαλε κατ’ επανάληψιν τα θρησκευτικά αισθήματα των Ουκρανών» (σ.σ. τοποθετήθηκε κατά του εκκλησιαστικού σχίσματος).
Ως «αποδεικτικά στοιχεία» προσκόμισαν υλικό των υποκλοπών τηλεφωνημάτων των συνομιλιών του Μητροπολίτη, όπου δήθεν εκφράζει αμφιβολίες ως προς τη σκοπιμότητα πολέμου κατά της Ρωσίας.
Ειδικότερα παρατίθενται τα λεγόμενά του: «Η Αμερική πολεμά τη Ρωσία μέχρι τον τελευταίο Ουκρανό». (ΔΕΙΤΕ ΕΔΩ)
Να σημειωθεί ότι ο Μητροπολίτης Παύλος δεν αναγνώρισε την ενοχή του, ενώ προ της συνεδρίας κάλεσε τους πιστούς σε ανδρεία λέγοντας:
“Με κατηγορούν ότι δεν είμαι δήθεν Ουκρανός πολίτης, αν και έχω μια μόνον ιθαγένεια και ζω εδώ με τον λαό μου. Μου προσάπτουν ότι υποστηρίζω την επίθεση, αλλά δεν την υποστηρίζω. Με κατηγορούν ότι σπέρνω διχασμούς, όμως δε σπέρνω, αλλά αποκόπτω τα ζιζάνια, για τα οποία ο Σωτήρ Χριστός είπε ότι θα έρθουν νέοι κήρυκες, οι οποίοι θα διχάσουν τον κόσμο… Όλα αυτά τα δέχομαι ως θέλημα του Θεού. Ο Θεός να με ενισχύσει να τα αντέξω όλα, ώστε να βλέπουν οι άνθρωποι και να μη σκανδαλίζονται όταν τους οδηγήσουν για βασανιστήρια, στο Συνέδριο για το όνομα του Χριστού. Σας παρακαλώ, να μείνετε στην πίστη, να μην υποκύψετε σε εκβιασμό, ο, τι και να λένε για το πρόσωπό μου, μην πιστεύετε, είναι ψέμα. Είμαι πιστός στον Προκαθήμενό μου, την αδελφότητα της Λαύρας και σε όλους σας».
Κατά τη διάρκεια της δίκης ο Μητροπολίτης Παύλος τόνισε τον προσωπικό και όχι δημόσιο χαρακτήρα των τηλεφωνικών του συνομιλιών.
Επίσης εξέφρασε την αμφιβολία ως προς την αυθεντικότητα ορισμένων συνομιλιών, επισημαίνοντας ότι αγνοεί τους ανθρώπους, των οποίων οι φωνές ακούγονται στην ηχογράφηση.
Να σημειωθεί ότι το δικαστήριο περιφρόνησε τις ενστάσεις του Σεβασμιωτάτου, ενώ αρνήθηκε να καλέσει ως μάρτυρες τα πρόσωπα εκείνα τα οποία δήθεν ήταν οι συνομιλητές. (ΔΕΙΤΕ ΕΔΩ)
Ο Μητροπολίτης Παύλος τέθηκε υπό κράτηση απευθείας στις εγκαταστάσεις του δικαστηρίου, όμως πρόλαβε να σχολιάσει την ετυμηγορία:
“Δεν συμφωνώ με την απόφαση. Η δικαστής έδειξε ότι της ασκούν πίεση άνθρωποι, οι οποίοι ενδιαφέρονται γι΄ αυτά. Όμως, τα δέχομαι ως θέλημα του Θεού. Το ποσό της εγγύησης είναι περισσότερο από 30 εκ. ρίβνα, ίσως μόνον ο εισαγγελέας δύναται να καταβάλει. Εγώ δε διαθέτω ένα τέτοιο ποσό, και κανείς δεν θα μου τα δώσει”.
Ο Ουκρανός Ιεράρχης πρόλαβε και απευθύνθηκε μέσω δημοσιογράφου στη μητέρα του, την οποία δεν ελπίζει να ξαναδεί:
“Θέλω σήμερα να απευθυνθώ προς την μάνα μου. Ίσως, να την δω, ίσως όχι, αλλά δεν πρέπει να ντρέπεται για μένα. Διότι δικάζομαι για τον Χριστό και για την πίστη».
Στο βίντεο φαίνεται πώς οι αστυνομικοί απαγορεύουν στον Μητροπολίτη Παύλο να σχολιάσει τη δικαστική απόφαση, αλλά ούτε του επιτρέπουν να πάρει τα απαραίτητα φάρμακα και δημοσίως του ασκούν πίεση να βγάλει το ιερό εγκόλπιο και να παραδώσει τη ράβδο του. (ΔΕΙΤΕ ΕΔΩ)
Από την πλευρά του ο δικηγόρος του Μητροπολίτη Παύλου, πρωθιερέας Νικήτας Τσέκμαν μιλώντας στο δικαστήριο, τόνισε ότι η υπόθεση του Σεβασμιωτάτου έχει πολιτικό χαρακτήρα. (ΔΕΙΤΕ ΕΔΩ)
Σχολιάζοντας τη δικαστική απόφαση υπογράμμισε ότι λαμβάνοντας υπόψη το προχωρημένο της ηλικίας και την υγεία του φυλακισμένου (βαριά μορφή του διαβήτη), η τοποθέτηση υπό κράτηση δύναται να κατηγοριοποιηθεί ως βασανισμός και απόπειρα δολοφονίας του Ιεράρχη. (ΔΕΙΤΕ ΕΔΩ)
Εμπειρογνώμονες επισημαίνουν το προφανές για την Ουκρανία ποσό εγγύησης, που όρισε το δικαστήριο.
Έτσι, ο κατηγορούμενος για τη δολοφονία δύναται να αφεθεί ελεύθερος με εγγύηση 100.000 γρίβνα (2.719 δολάρια).
Ένας ύποπτος σε υπόθεση πώλησης παιδιών από την Ουκρανία στις χώρες της Ευρωπαϊκής Ένωσης αφέθηκε ελεύθερος με εγγύηση 1 εκατομμυρίου γρίβνα (27.100 δολάρια).
Η συνεδρία του δικαστηρίου συνεχίσθηκε μέχρι αργά το βράδυ, ενώ μετά το πέρας της ο Μητροπολίτης Παύλος οδηγήθηκε στη φυλακή και οι πιστοί έψαλλαν το «Χριστός Ανέστη».
