EDITOR’S NOTE (Nick Stamatakis).  For one more time, the Phanar aimed at falsely accusing the Church of Albania.  This time, they used their tool, “Archon” (of disaster) Ilias Damianakis, to write that the miraculous post-communist rebuilding of the Church of Albania (over 250 churches were rebuilt and countless other institutions!!) was done due to the donations of Russian oligarchs!!

Ilias Damianakis is a discredited person.  He makes his living as an iconographer, so he depends on the Patriarchate for money.  He has zero credibility to say anything.  He dared to attack Helleniscope and me personally in the past when we exposed the Emmanuel(la) scandal in Paris, where the then Metropolitan Emmanuel and his “Assistant” Maximos (who could not speak a word of French!!) invited gay escorts in the Metropolis building!! The Paris Police recorded the whole episode. Patriarch Bartholomew refused to ask for the Police report officially!! Instead, he promoted both Emmanuel and Maximos!!

Yet they have the gall to open their sinful mouth and attack the holiest and wisest Orthodox hierarch globally, AB Anastasios of Albania!!

I have suggested numerous times that in 1991, the – then freshly elected – Patriarch Bartholomew made Anastasios the archbishop of Albania, hoping to bury him as he was afraid that the enlightened Anastasios would overshadow his minuscule heretic and sinful personality.  Instead, with Christ’s help, Anastasios made the miracle called today the Church of Albania, and out of his humility, he still overshadowed Bartholomew!!

ORTHODOX AUTOCEPHALOUS CHURCH OF ALBANIA

Press Office

Essential Refutation

Falsehoods are periodically presented to support the fictious mendacity that the Orthodox Autocephalous Church of Albania is “under the influence of the Russian Orthodox Church”. An article of this vein was recently published online in English and titled “Στῶμεν καλῶς, στῶμεν μετά φόβου”. The author of this article is Ilias Damianakis, a resident of the U.S.A. and an Archon of the Ecumenical Patriarchate as he himself notes. Within this article which refers to the interests of Russians to expend their influence within the Orthodox Church, he states “While the efforts of international oligarchs with vested interests have contributed to the rebuilding or restoration of over 250 churches (in Albania), their focus seems to lean more towards these endeavors rather than strictly adhering to Orthodox canonical principles”. As the context indicates the term “international oligarchs” implies Russians. This is a malicious and flagrant lie.

The Orthodox Church of Albania, in her official reports, has published the facts: “during her reconstruction from the ruins, over 160 churches (large and small) have been built, 68 churches and monasteries that are designated as cultural monuments have been renovated and restored, and over 170 preexisting churches have been restored”. None of these buildings are connected to “international oligarchs” of Russian origin. Accusations of this kind are simply a fabrication to support the falsehood that the Church of Albania “finds herself within the funnel of Russian propaganda”.

The Holy Synod of the Orthodox Autocephalous Church of Albania takes its decisions, always, with a constant concern for the unity of Orthodoxy and its convincing witness in the modern world.

Albanian Church rejects Phanar’s accusations of supporting Russian propaganda

The Albanian Church has stated that accusations of supporting Russian propaganda are “a malicious and flagrant lie”.

On August 30, 2023, the Holy Synod of the Albanian Orthodox Church refuted allegations from Phanar-affiliated sources of supporting Russian propaganda, as reported on the official website of the Church of Albania.

The published statement reads: “Falsehoods are periodically presented to support the fictitious mendacity that the Orthodox Autocephalous Church of Albania is ‘under the influence of the Russian Orthodox Church’. An article in this vein was recently published online in English and titled ‘Let us be good, let us be in fear of God’.”

“The author of this article is Ilias Damianakis, a resident of the U.S.A. and an Archon of the Ecumenical Patriarchate as he himself notes,” emphasized the Synod of the Albanian Church.

In one paragraph of his article, Damianakis claims that “international oligarchs” have contributed to the rebuilding or restoration of over 250 churches in Albania. Because of this, Damianakis writes, the Albanian Church has “to lean more towards these endeavours rather than strictly adhering to Orthodox canonical principles”.

From the context of the text, the term “international oligarchs” implies Russian influence. The Albanian Church Synod stated that such claims are “a malicious and flagrant lie”.

The Synod presents real facts: “During her reconstruction from the ruins, over 160 churches (large and small) have been built, 68 churches and monasteries that are designated as cultural monuments have been renovated and restored, and over 170 preexisting churches have been restored. None of these buildings are connected to ‘international oligarchs’ of Russian origin.”

The Synod described such statements by the Phanar as “a fabrication to support the falsehood that the Church of Albania ‘finds herself within the funnel of Russian propaganda’”.

“The Holy Synod of the Orthodox Autocephalous Church of Albania takes its decisions, always, with a constant concern for the unity of Orthodoxy and its convincing witness in the modern world,” emphasized the Church of Albania.

As earlier reported, a Phanar-affiliated website published an offensive article about the head of the Albanian Church.

Following this, the Synod of the Church of Albania called on the Phanar to condemn the insults by its cleric, and later, the hierarch of Crete condemned his cleric who had offended the Archbishop of Albania.

However, the Phanar cleric who insulted the head of the Church of Albania refused to apologize.

  1. Gross. 🤮 This rude, vulture of an Iconographer who calls himself “Archon Ilias Diamonikis” – sorry can’t spell his wretched sounding name – has been attacking loyal Orthodox, especially Russians for years while glorifying the debauched heretics.
    Btw:
This weasel needs art lessons from true iconographer Monk Luka of Mount Athos!

  2. Not a good look for the EP to attack one of the most saintly and beloved hierarchs in all of Orthodoxy. But, the EP is extraordinarily bad at optics.

Don’t forget that Bartholomew has said that he will not be calling a council or synaxis to answer the OCU question.

He knows that he is wrong that that a council or synaxis will vote against him.

So, what does he do? Goes even further into his papalism heresy.

    • No, but he can play games with the establishment… very much like Karloutsos is pretending being an Orthodox Christian, when the only thing he cares about is money and power…

  3. Let us not forget a small, but important detail about the timing of all this…Elpi just got his Albanian Uniate (Filioque-loving) bishop, who he’s trying to angle to “absorb” the Albanian populations of the diaspora…

  4. The Phanar has always been a cancer to Hellenism. The Patriarchs in 1821 did not support the Greek call for Independence. Their allegiance lies with the Illuminati and Turks.
