EDITOR’S NOTE (Nick Stamatakis): We noted Elon Musk’s love for ancient Greece a few months ago when he surprised the world by tweeting the ancient and modern Greek word “dialectics” written in Greek: “διαλεκτική.” Needless to point out, there are more books and dissertations written about “διαλεκτική” in the last 300 years than any other topic. Yesterday, he came out with his love for Homer and declared that his favorite hero was Odysseus. Should we also note that the most important Tesla team, the one that developed their battery technology, is out of the Athens Polytechnic (EMP – Metsovio “Polytechneion”)? The team is led by Konstantinos Laskaris, Konstantinos Bourhas, and Vassilis Papanikolaou, and they spent much of their time at TESLA’s headquarters in Palo Alto, CA. TESLA established, a few years ago, a full-time research laboratory at Demokritos, Greece’s primary scientific research institution.

Elon Musk decided to express his love for the Iliad through his posts, revealing his favorite character.
The indelible imprint of the Homeric epic, which accompanies generations and generations, while it does not seem to know borders, let alone in the Western world, still moves and inspires, as confirmed by Tesla magnate Elon Musk’s worship of the Greek Epic.
Fascinated by the story of the Iliad, Elon Musk made two posts in a few days about the Homeric epic, while also revealing his favorite character.
The Iliad was meant to be heard, not read
“The incredibly charming story that is the Iliad was meant to be told, so give it a listen,” the tech mogul wrote in a post on X (formerly Twitter) yesterday, reiterating the recommendation he made ten days ago to his followers to prefer the audio book.
In his post yesterday, Musk included a scene from the 2004 Hollywood film, “Troy.” This is one of the most iconic scenes, if not the best, of the film as well as of the Homer saga itself. It’s the scene where Priam, played by the legendary Peter O’Toole, begs Achilles (Brad Pitt) to return the lifeless body of his beloved son, Hector (Eric Bana).
In fact, in his response to a commenter on the post, the 52-year-old emphasized that his favorite character from the Homeric epic is Odysseus.

Την αγάπη του για την Ιλιάδα αποφάσισε να εκδηλώσει ο Έλον Μασκ μέσα από αναρτήσεις του, απκαλύπτοντας και τον αγαπημένο του χαρακτήρα.
Το ανεξίτηλο αποτύπωμα του ομηρικού έπους, το οποίο συντροφεύει γενιές κια γενιές, ενώ δεν φαίνεται να γνωρίζει σύνορα, πόσο μάλλον στον δυτικό κόσμο, ακόμα συγκινεί και εμπνέει όπως επιβεβαιώνει και η εκδήλωση λατρείας του μεγιστάνα της Tesla, Έλον Μασκ για το ελληνικό Έπος.
Γοητευμένος από την ιστορία της Ιλιάδας, ο Έλον Μασκ έκανε μέσα σε λίγες ημέρες δύο αναρτήσεις γιατο ομηρικό έπος, ενώ αποκάλυψε και τον αγαπημένο του χαρακτήρα.
Η Ιλιάδα προοριζόταν να ακουστεί όχι να διαβαστεί
«Η απίστευτα γοητευτική ιστορία που είναι η Ιλιάδα προοριζόταν να ειπωθεί, γι’ αυτό ακούστε την», έγραψε χθες ο μεγιστάνας της τεχνολογίας σε μια ανάρτηση στο X (πρώην Twitter), επαναλαμβάνοντας τη σύσταση που έκανε πριν από δέκα ημέρες στους ακολούθους του να προτιμήσουν το ακουστικό βιβλίο.
Στη χθεσινή του ανάρτηση, ο Mασκ συμπεριέλαβε μια σκηνή από την χολιγουντιανή ταινία του 2004, την«Τροία». Πρόκειται για μία από τις πιο εμβληματικές σκηνές, αν όχι και την καλύτερη, της ταινίας καθώς και για το ίδιο το έπος Ομήρου. Μάλιστα, σε απάντησή του σε σχολιαστή της ανάρτησης, ο 52χρονος τόνισε ότι ο αγαπημένος του χαρακτήρας από το ομηρικό έπος είναι ο Οδυσσέας.
Σε άλλη χθεσινή του ανάρτηση, η οποία περιελάμβανε τον σύνδεσμο για το ομηρικό έπος στα αγγλικά από τη σειρά Penguin Classic, ο Μασκ χαρακτήρισε την Ιλιάδα «την καλύτερη ιστορία που υπήρξε ποτέ».

If his favorite hero is Odysseus, why didn’t he learn from Odysseus how to properly “tie himself to the mast”, but instead followed so many “Sirens” to the point where he has multiple kids with multiple “Sirens”? 🙂
You’re so right – it’s cringeworthy, Elon Musk breeding illegitimate kids with a deranged woman like Grimes … he’s short circuited.
Musk is a voracious reader especially of TEXTBOOKS and he taught himself to become a rocket engineer by reading related textbooks. He is kind enough to publish the list of books that benefited him the most so we can take his advice to immerse ourselves in the writings of the Ancient Greeks for inspiration, knowledge and wisdom!

You are a bit incorrect that he is a self-taught rocket engineer. Musk majored in Physics and Engineering. Many others have, too, but there is a difference…where 99% of the population sees a wall, people like Musk see a window (of opportunity)…can’t “teach” that…
