EDITOR’S NOTE (Nick Stamatakis).  As you will see below in English and Greek, the “Archons of Disaster” are seething at the treatment they received at the Athens Conference a few days ago.  They were ignored by PM Mitsotakis, the leadership of the Greek Foreign Ministry (Gerapetritis- Papadopoulou), and similarly by AB Ieronymos. It is whispered that PM Mitsotakis privately saw Mike Pompeo, the main speaker at the conference.  A couple of days later, Mitsotakis found plenty of time for Endy Zemenidis and his “guests” from Chicago (see the link for the news and photo).  What is truly the story? What games are being played? What interests are being served?

It seems that Endy Zemenidis (it is not clear whether he managed to register as a “foreign lobbyist” in DC – but he is mainly acting as an American lobbyist in Greece) has developed a “professional” relationship with the Mitsotakis government. In the US and Greece, they present themselves as the “Cypriot Lobbyists who are the only actively promoting Hellenic interests in Washington.” But when you ask them why they do not promote re-introducing the “Unified Defense Area Between Greece and Cyprus,” they are silent.  This concept is the ONLY concept that supports the interests of Hellenism, and it has recently been proposed by patriotic Hellenic voices such as the Archbishop of Cyprus Georgios and the Hellenic American National Council (HANC – President Bill Mataragas).

The Cypriot Lobbyists (Zemenidis & Co) refuse to discuss the Unified Defence Area Between Greece and Cyprus because Mitsotakis has received specific directives from DC not to. And the Archons refuse to discuss the Unified Defence Area Between Greece and Cyprus because the State Department and the deep state do not let them.  Why? They still stupidly believe that they can offer Turkey a “sweet deal” in the gas and oil fields of the Eastern Mediterranean, so Turkey will not look eastwards towards the BRICS, as FM Hakan Fidan recently stated in China.

As Andreas Papandreou used to say, “When a little bird from Washington DC tells them,” they will both change policy. This voice will probably come soon and it will be the result of AIPAC and the interests of Israel, who are left with Greece and Cyprus as their main ally in the area…

Archons avowed not to forget Mitsotakis government’s stance

Three significant conclusions were drawn from the recent conference held by the Archons of the Ecumenical Patriarchate in Athens. From an organizational standpoint, everything proceeded seamlessly. Those who needed to attend were present, and Father Alex Karloutsos’ team managed the program effectively.

The Archons attended the conference but left with a sense of bitterness due to the perceived disregard shown by the government and the prime minister. They commented on it, analyzed it, and vowed to remember it as they left. The second conclusion highlights the government’s erratic policy on issues concerning the Greek Diaspora and the Patriarchate. To be more precise, the governemnt made a mess of this.

No strategy

The prime minister, lacking a plan, acted erratically in this situation. He claimed his schedule was too busy to meet with the Archons, yet he managed to find time for the… “master of our foreign policy,” Endy Zemenides. The executive director of a Chicago-based organization, with an unspecified number of members, who, informally, seem to be authorized to wield influence in matters of foreign policy for our country.

The third conclusion is that whether within or outside the country, Greeks will continue to engage in strife against each other. People who live in glass houses shouldn’t throw stones. Businesspeople from the Greek Diaspora, ministers, high-ranking hierarchs, ordinary Archons, and intermediaries, instead of collaborating for the betterment of the Greek community and the country, engage in complaints, thus backbiting one another.

This government has equated backbiting and slander with progress for the country. You carry out your tasks without interference, as attention is focused elsewhere.

Obsessions

A journalist of Greek Cypriot origin, with a long career in the Greek Diaspora and a respected—until recently—reputation in the field, addressed the issues raised by the column. On his blog, he insinuates that we have engaged (for a fee!) to advocate for specific interests and other nonsense.

Let the Patriarch and the people be the judges of Elpidophoros’s course. We express our opinions without yielding to the Archbishop of America, the Metropolitan of Chalcedon, Antonis Diamataris, or Endy Zemenidis. We acknowledge his trajectory and will refrain from further discussion on the matter.

One final point: if he frequently mentions the “Turkish House” in the US, why does he not scold the Cypriot government? Despite Archbishop Elpidophoros attending the inauguration of the Turkish House in New York, the Cypriot government continues to receive him with glory and honors to this day.

The Greek government, supposedly offended, is acting like a tough nut to crack. Is the Greek government more sensitive to Cyprus issues than the Cypriot government?

Why doesn’t he criticize Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis, who last year agreed to meet Tayyip Erdogan as a host at the “Turkish House” and didn’t insist on meeting on neutral ground, such as a site within the UN offices?

Criticism through journalism is beneficial, but obsession can be harmful.

Κάτι απλώς τελευταίο: επειδή κάνει συχνά πυκνά λόγο για το «Σπίτι της Τουρκίας» στις ΗΠΑ, γιατί δεν ψέγει την κυπριακή κυβέρνηση που ενώ ο Ελπιδοφόρος πήγε στα εγκαίνια του τουρκικού σπιτιού στην Ν. Υόρκη, τον δέχεται με δόξες και τιμές ακόμη και σήμερα;

Η ελληνική κυβέρνηση, τάχα θιγμένη, κάνει το βαρύ πεπόνι. Είναι πιο ευαίσθητη η ελληνική κυβέρνηση από την κυπριακή στα θέματα της Κύπρου;

Γιατί δεν ασκεί κριτική στον Πρωθυπουργό Κυριάκο Μητσοτάκη που πέρυσι δέχτηκε να συναντήσει τον Ταγίπ Ερντογάν ως οικοδεσπότη στο «Σπίτι της Τουρκίας» και δεν απαίτησε να συναντηθούν σε ουδέτερο έδαφος όπως πχ. έναν χώρο στα γραφεία του ΟΗΕ;

  1. Does Melchizedek have a name? Is he a bishop, a priest, or an archbishop’s advisor? Is he Elpidoktonos himself?

    He should be seething; the countdown has begun!

    Why does he equate Elpidoktonos’ acts of treason at the Turkish House as equivalent to an elected government’s exercise of diplomacy?

    That government is Cyprus, and the little pea-brain thinks if Cyprus’ diplomats engage in diplomacy for the benefit of their raped country, he can go do it too!
    What audacity!

    The nerve of challenging and discrediting a journalist whose expertise and commitment to Cyprus is beyond reproach! Is it that journalist’s opposition to Turkey that bothers Elpidoktonos? Is that why the little janissary has divided the Greek and Cypriot community in the few years he’s here?

    The Greek government’s rejection of Elpidoktonos and his fools is only a start. Brace yourselves because we ain’t seen nothing yet!

  2. Tell me what spiritual advisor Karloutsos is?? What does this fraud in a priest collar know of noble behavior when he’s sabotaging holy Church?!

  3. The only reason that it’s was held in Athens and not at the Patriarchate is because Karloutsos will be arrested if he steps foot in Turkey.
