From “Overselling” the Holocaust to Public Revolt: The Rise of Anti-Zionist America

From Capitol Hill’s Israeli-lobby liaisons to the pulpits of evangelical Zionism, decades of unquestioned allegiance to Israel are crumbling as Gaza, Iran, and Epstein-era revelations ignite the most significant generational break with Zionist power in U.S. history. All this is underlined by the “sudden death” of the mainstream media and the rise of independent podcasters.

For over seven decades, American public opinion on Israel was shaped by a wall-to-wall media and educational consensus. The Holocaust—one of history’s most horrific crimes—pervaded schools, documentaries, and public ceremonies, becoming not only remembrance but a moral imperative, enforcing unconditional support for Israel’s policies regardless of their nature.

At the same time, the pro-Israel lobby’s grip on Congress was unbreakable—from AIPAC’s political influence to sidelining dissent. Characteristically, each member of Congress has a permanent “Israeli Lobby liaison” in their office from the moment they step onto Capitol Hill. In television, film, and print, criticism of Israeli actions was virtually absent. Dissent existed only on the margins.

Another deeply entrenched pillar was “Evangelical Zionism” — the belief, rooted in eschatological commitment, that supporting Israel brings divine favor. But that, too, began to unravel. In June 2025, Tucker Carlson’s interview with Senator Ted Cruz exposed the underlying absurdity when Cruz, unable to cite the Bible verse he invoked as justification, was mocked in front of millions—marking a defining moment in discrediting faith-based political loyalty.  Recent polls showed that even among Evangelical Christians and especially the youth, support for Israel fell to about 33%!!  (The Guardian).

The First Fracture: Epstein and the Mossad Connection

Before Gaza or Iran, it was the unfulfilled promises by Trump, the DOJ, and the FBI to release the Epstein files that pierced the public’s trust. Conspiracy or not, many Americans concluded that Jeffrey Epstein, assisted by Ghislaine Maxwell (daughter of British media tycoon and Israeli intelligence operative Robert Maxwell), acted as a Mossad-linked operator, harvesting blackmail material to coerce political loyalty to Zionist interests.

When the promised disclosures never came, this suspicion spread beyond fringe circles into mainstream discourse. For the average American, it was a shocking moment of realization: Washington protects its own because it serves another master.

The Breaking Points

Then came the Gaza war: its unfiltered devastation streamed directly to citizens, bypassing mainstream filters. A broad coalition—progressives, libertarians, and parts of the populist right—witnessed the suffering and heard perspectives historically suppressed.

This culminated in the June 22, 2025 Iran strike under Trump, a betrayal of his “no new wars” pledge to his base, and proof for many of the military–industrial–AIPAC axis operating across party lines.

The Data Tells the Story

Polls now reveal the depth of the shift:

• Gallup (July 2025): Just 10% of adults under 35 approve of Israel’s military actions in Gaza—this is a record low.

• Al Jazeera (July 2025): Only 9% under 35 express approval.

• Brookings/Pew (March 2025): A majority (53%) of Americans hold an unfavorable view of Israel—up from 42% in 2022—with half of Republicans under 50 disapproving.

• YouGov/Economist (Jan 2024): Nearly 49% of 18–29 year-olds agreed that Israel is committing genocide.

These figures are historically unprecedented: they confirm not only a decline in support but an outright reversal among young Americans.

A Generational Realignment

The chart below illustrates a generational break in U.S. attitudes toward Israel, showing how younger Americans—once shaped by Holocaust-centered education—are now more likely to view Israel as an occupying power rather than a victimized state. This shift has been fueled by the decline of Christian Zionism through high-profile exposures like Tucker Carlson’s interrogation of Ted Cruz, and revelations linking Epstein and Mossad to political coercion. As mainstream media loses its gatekeeping role, influential independent voices such as Joe Rogan, Tucker Carlson, Hasan Piker, and others reach vastly larger audiences, openly using terms like “genocide” and “apartheid,” while social media amplifies Palestinian perspectives long suppressed by traditional outlets.

The Sudden Death of the Main Stream Media and the Rise of the Podcasters Is the Gravestone of the Pro-Israel Lobby

To make a comparison, the cable news channels (Fox, CNN, MSNBC) have a combined audience during primetime of about 4 million viewers!! And the rest of the mainstream channels, mostly now watched by the elderly, have a combined audience of about 14 million viewers!!  Audience numbers for leading independent podcasters and commentators reveal a seismic shift in where Americans get their political and cultural narratives. Giants like Joe Rogan, Tucker Carlson, and The Young Turks draw millions—often per episode—while even mid-tier voices such as Redacted or Breaking Points rival or surpass CNN’s prime-time audience, which now hovers near 100,000 in the key 25–54 demographic. This isn’t just a ratings slump—it’s the collapse of mainstream media’s monopoly over public discourse. Once the gatekeepers of political narratives, legacy networks are now dwarfed by a decentralized ecosystem of podcasters, YouTubers, and Twitch streamers offering long-form, unscripted, and often controversial discussions that traditional TV wouldn’t touch. What was once the national conversation has become a niche product for an aging audience. At the same time, the cultural and political pulse of the country is increasingly set by independent creators with audiences many times larger.

Case in Point: The Rise of Zoran Mamdani – possibly the first Muslim Mayor of New York

All these issues were evident in the pre-primary Democrat debate – in the election for Mayor in NYC:  In the lightning round, moderators posed the question: “Do you think Israel has a right to exist?” and “Would you visit Israel as mayor?”  Zohran Mamdani affirmed Israel’s right to exist as a state with equal rights for all its citizens, but he stopped short of endorsing it as a “Jewish state” specifically. He also said he might not visit Israel, instead focusing on building relationships with Jewish New Yorkers. This answer drew sharp criticism from rivals like Andrew Cuomo, who accused Mamdani of failing to affirm Israel’s existence as a Jewish nation fully and suggested he was unwilling to visit Israel. He came first in votes and he is now in a position to be elected the first Muslim Mayor of NYC!…

Hubris—The Fatal Flaw of Zionist Hegemony

Zionist political power in the U.S. arose from moral exceptionalism and emotional authority rooted in the Holocaust narrative. Yet that same sanctimony—shielding the movement from scrutiny—became its downfall. In refusing to acknowledge Palestinian suffering and by dismissing the rise of independent media, Zionist ideology overreached. This hubris, once protective, may now precipitate a comprehensive and historic reversal of influence in America.

The political consequences will be profound. As public opinion continues to turn—especially among younger voters—American politicians will be forced to declare their disengagement from pro-Israel lobbies before elections publicly. In most parts of the country, no one will be electable if they are seen as “bought” by the lobby. The reprehensible phenomenon of every single member of Congress having a “lobby liaison” assigned to them from the day they arrive on Capitol Hill must be ended.

There is also the distinct possibility of the Trump administration attempting to preserve the old order through other means—such as “pulling the federal budget strings” to pressure states and institutions, a tactic already tried without success. They could also try censorship initiatives. We have already seen this approach in the case of Columbia University, where federal intervention placed a so-called “censorship czar” on the College’s Board to suppress pro-Palestinian speech.

Yet history teaches us a clear lesson: censorship never succeeds in the long term. From ancient times to the Roman Empire, from the Soviet Union to the Chinese Communist Party, suppressing ideas has always eventually failed. In America, where the citizenry is armed and deeply attached to its constitutional freedoms, such heavy-handed tactics carry the grave risk of sparking a civil conflict. If people believe their most fundamental liberties are being stripped away, they will not simply protest—they will defend those freedoms with the tools the Second Amendment places in their hands.

The irony is stark: decades of unchecked influence, built on hubris and the illusion of permanence, may now collapse—not only under the weight of changing public opinion, but under the very overreach designed to preserve it.
