To Be Greek/Cretan Is To Dance – Even If You Are A Monk!…

EDITOR’S NOTE: (Nick Stamatakis). Before some of you get excited – I guess for different reasons for each group – let me make myself clear: If by dancing you show respect to yourself and those around you and, particularly, to the thousands-year-old Hellenic traditions, where dance always was a cultural unity symbol and ta symbol of identity, then it should be perfectly fine and enjoyed by all.  On the opposite side of this argument, I have seen a priest – in a parish celebration around New York – jump on the table and dance “tsifteteli” (belly dance of sorts).  First jumping on a table is inappropriate and, second, dancing “tsifteteli” even more so…  If the priest would dance our “national” dance “kalamatiano” leading the circle of dance (in effect “leading the ancient “chorus” where the Greek name for Dance “χορός” came from) nobody would be impressed, and I would not remember 20 years later…

As for you, the gang of ecumenists/globalists and novelists around the Phanar gay brotherhood, you should not get too “happy.” As I said above, this is about keeping the most ancient Greek traditions and not about novelties. Hieromonk Evgenios in the video below, is dancing a 3,000-year-old dance depicted in vases and in ceramic art and wall pictures in Greece…

You have to watch THE WHOLE VIDEO… Please do not tell me that putting his hands around a woman was inappropriate.  The way dances go in Cretan and Greek villages, the women around Hieromonk Evgenios are VERY LIKELY family, close family… And this is how that dance is danced.  There are certain standard “steps” and “figures”… And the whole impression he leaves is that of respect to his fellow villagers and their traditions in Crete.
