EDITOR’S NOTE: PM Mitsotakis had a secret meeting on January 8 with AB Ieronymos, known for his leftist leanings, to discuss the legislation for same-sex marriage.  Sources tell us that Mitsotakis plans to bring the law to the Parliament for a vote between Jan. 28 – Feb. 10. He seems to be very worried about the split within his party – and the whole country – for an issue that has already been resolved with the “civil union” legislation.  Meanwhile, we are learning from Greece that an emergency meeting of the Holy Synod of the Church of Greece will take place next Tuesday, January 23, with only one subject on the agenda: “same-sex marriage” legislation!! Unverified sources suggest that the Metropolitan of Mesogaias Nikolaos will introduce the discussion!! If this is true, it all but guarantees a LOUD NO by the Church of Greece!!

Mitsotakis’ Secret Meeting With AB Ieronymos To Curb the Reactions of Hierarchs

The Metropolitan of Nea Ionia Gabriel comes forward, asking MPs “do not give land and water to the demands of the LGBTI community”.  The same with the Metropolitans of Nafpaktos and Drama.

Hierarchs of the Church also reacted strongly to the notorious bill on same-sex marriage and adoption, even suggesting popular gatherings and rallies, while Archbishop Ieronymos of Athens and All Greece watches helplessly and waits for when to convene the Hierarchy.

In order to overcome the reactions, a secret meeting was held between Kyriakos Mitsotakis and the Archbishop, according to what revealed a central news bulletin of the Star.

The meeting took place in the Archdiocese, after Kyriakos Mitsotakis has made it his personal bet to pass the bill, in order to advertise in Brussels how progressive he is, bringing a bill that SYRIZA did not dare either.

Mitsotakis briefed Ieronymos, regurgitating what was also known to the New Democracy MPs, namely how necessary the bill is to eliminate the discrimination and ensuring equality in marriage and legal rights for children.

The Archbishop, for his part, was content to reiterate the established position of the Church, as well as the opposition of hierarchs, and informed that he would convene the Holy Synod.

However, with each passing day, more and more hierarchs speak publicly, expressing their strong opposition to the government’s plans.

The Metropolitan of Nafpaktos stated that: “If the State starts legalizing all sexual orientations, then we will find nowhere to find an edge.” Metropolitan Dorotheos of Drama argued that if we have “two mothers or two fathers raising a child, research will prove that it harms the child”, while Metropolitan Ieronymos of Larissa and Tyrnavos wondered “If tomorrow someone asks to marry a tree, a frog, his pet, will we call that marriage too? Where are we going to stop the overflow of the term marriage?” The Metropolitan of Serres also asked for the immediate convening of the Holy Synod.

Metropolitan Gabriel of Nea Ionia, as a means of pressure on the MPs elected in his region, sent a letter stating:

“Please do not give land and water to the demands of the LGBTI community. Try to resolve several of their demands by extending civil unions and leaving the family intact. Please, the inalienable right of children to grow up with both models, namely father and mother. Please take care not to create another rift in social cohesion.”

Έντονες είναι οι αντιδράσεις και Ιεραρχών της Εκκλησίας για το περιβόητο νομοσχέδιο για τους γάμους των ομόφυλων και την τεκνοθεσία, που εισηγούνται ακόμη και λαοσυνάξεις και συλλαλητήρια, την ώρα που ο Αρχιεπίσκοπος Αθηνών και Πάσης Ελλάδος Ιερώνυμος παρακολουθεί άβουλος και περιμένει πότε να συγκαλέσει την Ιεραρχία.

Για να καμφθούν οι αντιδράσεις πραγματοποιήθηκε μυστική συνάντηση του Κυριάκου Μητσοτάκη με τον Αρχιεπίσκοπο, σύμφωνα με όσα αποκάλυψε κεντρικό δελτίο ειδήσεων του Star.

Η συνάντηση έγινε στην Αρχιεπισκοπή, αφού ο Κυριάκος Μητσοτάκης έχει μετατρέψει σε προσωπικό του στοίχημα την ψήφιση του νομοσχεδίου, ώστε να διαφημίζει στις Βρυξέλλες πόσο προοδευτικός είναι, φέρνοντας νομοσχέδιο που ούτε ο ΣΥΡΙΖΑ τόλμησε.

Ο Μητσοτάκης προχώρησε σε ενημέρωση του Ιερώνυμου, αναμασώντας τα γνωστά που ειπώθηκαν και στους βουλευτές της Νέας Δημοκρατίας, δηλαδή πόσο απαραίτητο είναι το νομοσχέδιο για την εξάλειψη των… διακρίσεων και την εξασφάλιση της ισότητας στο ζήτημα του γάμου και στα νομικά δικαιώματα για τα παιδιά.

Ο Αρχιεπίσκοπος από την πλευρά του αρκέστηκε να επαναλάβει την πάγια θέση της Eκκλησίας, καθώς και την αντίθεση Ιεραρχών και ενημέρωσε ότι θα συγκαλέσει την Ιερά Σύνοδο.

Πάντως κάθε μέρα που περνάει όλο και περισσότεροι Ιεράρχες τοποθετούνται δημόσια, εκφράζοντας την έντονη αντίθεσή τους στους κυβερνητικούς σχεδιασμούς.

Ο Μητροπολίτης Ναυπάκτου δήλωσε ότι: «Αν αρχίσει η Πολιτεία να νομιμοποιεί όλους τους σεξουαλικούς προσανατολισμούς, τότε δε θα βρούμε πουθενά άκρη». Ο Μητροπολίτης Δράμας Δωρόθεος, υποστήριξε ότι αν έχουμε «δυο μαμάδες ή δυο μπαμπάδες να μεγαλώνουν παιδί θα αποδειχθεί με έρευνες ότι βλάπτει το παιδί», ενώ και ο Μητροπολίτης Λάρισας και Τυρνάβου Ιερώνυμος αναρωτήθηκε «αν αύριο κάποιος ζητήσει να συνάψει γάμο με ένα δέντρο, με ένα βάτραχο, με το κατοικίδιό του, θα το πούμε και αυτό γάμο; Πού θα σταματήσουμε το ξεχείλωμα του όρου γάμος;». Να συγκληθεί άμεσα η Ιερά Σύνοδος ζήτησε και ο Μητροπολίτης Σερρών.

Ο δε Μητροπολίτης Νέας Ιωνίας Γαβριήλ ως μέσο πίεσης προς τους βουλευτές που εκλέγονται στην περιφέρειά του, έστειλε επιστολή αναφέροντας:

«Σας παρακαλώ θερμά, μην δώσετε γη και ύδωρ στα αιτήματα της ΛΟΑΤΚΙ κοινότητας. Προσπαθήστε να δώσετε λύσεις σε αρκετά από τα αιτήματα τους επεκτείνοντας το υπάρχουν σύμφωνο συμβίωσης και αφήστε την οικογένεια ανέπαφη. Σας παρακαλώ, το αναφαίρετο δικαίωμα των παιδιών να μεγαλώνουν και με τα δύο πρότυπα, ήτοι του πατέρα και της μητέρας. Σας παρακαλώ, μεριμνήστε να μην δημιουργηθεί κι άλλο ρήγμα στην κοινωνική συνοχή».
