Syrian authorities were put on alert after a suicide bomber blew himself up inside the Greek Orthodox Church of Saint Elias in Dweilaa, Damascus, resulting in dozens of casualties .

According to a post by journalist Ibrahim Hamidi on X, an eyewitness to the bloody incident reported that there were two perpetrators , one of whom was waiting outside the church, while the other entered it armed with explosives, which he detonated among the numerous worshippers inside, several of whom were killed or seriously injured.
